Angelo and Pete have been bursting at the seams wanting to unveil the latest Mercury Marine news BUT they had to hold off until today’s big reveal. On a recent trip to Lake X in Florida, they had the distinct privilege of getting a first hand look at the latest projects that Mercury have been […]
Angelo and Pete give their custom Princecraft “FNC1” a new facelift and then meet up with the “Bigwigs” from Princecraft Boats to showcase their pride and joy. As curious and eager as the Princecraft team are to see the transformed fishing craft for themselves, they would love to do some fishing too! The perfect meeting place is Kenauk Nature in the Outaouais region of Quebec. With brutal weather conditions dampening the entire trip, the boys hope they can still make a good impression with their fishing machine… and catch some fish too!
On this episode, we highlight the inaugural Canada Carp Cup Classic tournament, held in Long Sault, on the banks of the famous St. Lawrence River. This World Carp Classic qualifier event is the first of its kind, and had both highs and lows throughout the two rigorous days of fishing…with the ultimate high being the 2 winners catching OVER 1800 pounds of Carp… yup you read that right!
Pete travels to some of Ontario’s most northerly Largemouth Bass waters, the St. Mary’s River, near Sault Ste. Marie in Algoma Country. It’s October, the water is hovering just above 50 degrees, and the fall colours surrounding this great fishing destination are in full peak. Question is… are the Bass in full peak feeding mode? Pete ends this show with a quick trip to the St. Mary’s “rapids” and tries his hand at the world-renowned Steelhead and Rainbow fishery.
Angelo heads to the province of New Brunswick with good buddy and Muskie fishing nut Steve Niedzwiecki (owner of Chaudiere Lodge, Upper French River), as they seek Canada’s number one predator… the Muskellunge. You read it correctly, there “are” Muskie in NB and they are thriving in the waters of the Saint John River… one problem though, in this water they’re considered an invasive species and many of the old school locals want them eradicated! Ang and Steve try to bring new light to this magnificent sport fish and open up the eyes to the entire country saying “these Muskie are here to stay, so let’s embrace and take full advantage of this relatively new and exciting east-coast fishery”!
This Fish’n Canada Carp Hotspot is on Rice Lake in southern Ontario. Rice Lake, along with the rest of the Kawartha Lakes, is known as an all-round fantastic fishing lake, with Carp included. During a past Fish’n Canada shoot, we pre-fed the area with boiled corn as to draw fish in. Next, we cast out sweet corn, extra large flavoured corn, as well as Pineapple Boilies on various slip and bolt rigs, and waited for our bite alarms to start singing. We feel Carp fishing is here to stay, so why not join us in seeking this great sportfish!
This Nagagami Lake Hotspot is on a breakline off a shallow hump about a hundred yards from the previous Hotspot of the month. When a changing weather system moves in and the shallow water fish seem to disappear, the first thing that should be checked is the adjacent deep water. Look for breaks, along with anything different, like boulders, or even deep weeds, that may hold fish. Once you re-discover the school, it’s game on again! Live bait is the number one choice, simply because that pressure change has put the entire food chain on pause, and quite honestly, meat on the hook is the ultimate way to go. Working slow is the key.
This Hotspot is a medium sized hump rising from the depths of Nagagami Lake in northern Ontario. It’s a classic structure that will get even better as the season progresses. With water in the 50 – 60 degree area, you can try soft plastics on your jig, but always have a bucket of minnows on hand just in case. This structure tops out at around 8-10 feet, then drops off gradually to over 20, and finally plummets to 50 feet. Make sure you check all depths with your Garmin.
