Finally fishing season is upon us. Trout just opened a week ago and now Walleye on Quinte and soon to be everywhere else. I spent the Q opener with Jack from Radioworld along with his buddies Claude, Ramp (Larry) and Kenny. I knew I was in trouble when Jack emailed me at the last minute and said ” You may want to bring ear plugs. Claude and Ramp snore like 10 men!”… ouch!!!
I got there Friday night and we quickly went through a quasi game plan over some beers, ribs and junk food and decided to go out for a few hours after midnight. We boated 3 keepers & called it a night. I slid back a few more nips as to hopefully “die” through the up coming shore-a-thon. It actually ended up not too bad, I think I’ve found the solution; ear plugs + Canadian + Gibsons Sterling. Beautiful combo it is!!!
Got up the next morning and “ate them little yellow critters”… damn I love eating Walleye!
Went back out Saturday aft and caught 4 more good fillet fish along with an S-Load of little Walleye
(they’re always in the same spot every year, you would think I’d learn).
Rest of the weekend was basically the same… lots of small fish but it even got tougher than on Saturday.
All in all it was a fantastic weekend with fun had by all.
It should turn on pretty soon! By the way the water is at least 2 feet low already this season! Go to Hay Bay for now, the water is warmer and dirtier and the fish are biting.
The catch of the day was definitely the double of Perch I took on a worm harness. If you look at the image you will see just how deadly I actually am. Now if you look closely you will see that not a hook is in either fish’s mouth. That’s because I have such a good set of hands that if a fish smells my bait (bottom fish) I’ll nail the SOB, and if one’s even close (top fish) I’ll just snare/lasso them as well (not sure if I’m a poacher or a genius).
Thanks to Jack and the boys for the invite… awesome outing.
