Angelo and Pete give their custom Princecraft "FNC1" a new facelift and then meet up with the "Bigwigs" from Princecraft Boats to showcase their pride and joy. As curious and eager as the Princecraft team are to see the transformed fishing craft for themselves, they would love to do some fishing too! The perfect meeting place is Kenauk Nature in the Outaouais region of Quebec. With brutal weather conditions dampening the entire trip, the boys hope they can still make a good impression with their fishing machine... and catch some fish too!

One of Canada's longest-running fishing shows, Fish'n Canada travels from coast to coast in search of trophy fishing opportunities. First started by brothers Angelo and Reno Viola in 1986, The Fish’n Canada Show has been on the air for over 30 years. Today, Angelo is joined by lifelong fishing buddy, Peter Bowman, and the pair continue to travel across Canada educating anglers using the experience they’ve gained over the years

Wow
0:09
that's the legendary epic c1 it's a hell
0:13
of a boat they gave our effort c1 a
0:16
complete makeover and it is absolutely
0:19
gorgeous it's one of the region's
0:22
biggest kept secrets yes until now oh
0:30
yeah absolutely we do it the fishin
0:36

to say that Pete and I are technique
1:01
freaks or perfectionist of our fishing
1:03
craft would be a tremendous
1:04
understatement we thrive on the
1:07
intricacies of all things gear oriented
1:10
parabolic curves of rods drag systems
1:13
and reels shapes and material makeup of
1:15
weights sharpening angles of hooks and
1:18
the list goes on in fact the list spills
1:22
out well beyond just fishing gear our
1:24
tow vehicle for instance things like
1:27
self-leveling air suspension is a must
1:29
for any serious boater all the latest
1:31
features and options means we can get to
1:34
the launch with boat and tow safely on
1:36
every trip and finally we can't forget
1:40
our boat the vehicle which we call our
1:42
office if you recall a couple of seasons
1:45
ago we started the transformation of our
1:47
Princecraft
1:47
expedition 200 to get into a fully
1:49
customized handcrafted beast we now
1:51
refer to as FNC one we're pretty sure
1:57
this proves just how serious we are
1:59
about our fishing bottom line is by
2:06
being technique freaks it allows us to
2:09
better our fishing craft and enables us
2:11
to convey our newfound knowledge to you
2:13
the fishing canon audience this is too
2:15
much fun for one person to have I'm
2:18
telling you
2:19
so what does this have to do with
2:21
today's show there's a new sheriff in
2:23
Princeville and we're gonna finally get
2:25
a chance to meet him he's steve langley
2:27
the new president of Princecraft boats
2:29
during his transition to Princecraft
2:31
he had heard through the grapevine about
2:33
our customized rig he said guys this is
2:36
something I have to see and by the way
2:38
can we do some fishing to our kind of
2:40
guy one of the things we can't wait to
2:45
show Steve is the rubber chucker plate
2:46
flooring that's right I said rubber it's
2:49
extremely comfortable to walk on totally
2:52
skid resistant and to our knowledge
2:53
never been offered by any boat
2:55
manufacturer not only is it functional
2:57
but let's be honest it looks pretty
2:59
awesome you got to admit since I've been
3:02
a muscle car lover and a speed freak my
3:04
entire life FNC one wasn't going to be a
3:07
slug in the water trust me with all the
3:10
modifications we made we inadvertently
3:12
added extra weight so a massive weight
3:15
loss program came into play without
3:17
sacrificing any structural integrity we
3:20
trim the fat so to speak and when pushed
3:23
by a fig Merc Verado pro 250 she came
3:26
out as a fire-breathing monster
3:35
this cockpit is command central
3:37
outfitted with all the latest mercs
3:39
smart gauges and a slick console mounted
3:42
shifter it's the heart of fnc one the
3:45
last thing we want to show the guys is
3:47
the electronics as well as give them a
3:49
few tips on how we use them we run three
3:51
Garmin touchscreen units all networked
3:53
together to give us the absolute best
3:55
fish finding technology little cast off
3:59
to the out the out a bit of this way up
4:02
here yep just a 10-foot cast out that
4:04
way where you said he was on that screen
4:13
how sweet is that
4:14
Oh him on the screen you throw it on
4:17
anybody supposed to be like if you feel
4:19
like that every day that's electronic
4:21
that it's battery that's that's
4:23
electronic Travis oh my god these super
4:26
computers as we call no show us detailed
4:28
one foot contours with Lakeview maps
4:30
they have the ability to scan the side
4:32
view and clear view and show us
4:34
real-time imagery with the amazing
4:36
Panoptix there's fish way out there
4:38
let's hope the bridge craft team is as
4:40
impressed with our machine as we are
4:43
we're gonna give it the ultimate
4:44
makeover before we had to come out
4:49
and it is absolutely gorgeous before we
4:56
meet with Steve and JP we've got a
4:58
couple of more finishing touches the
5:00
first is to install a couple of side
5:03
pods to give F and C one better splash
5:05
protection and an even nastier look and
5:08
finally we're gonna give it the ultimate
5:10
makeover to clean her up before we head
5:13
to Quebec we decided to take our regular
5:16
one of the top design graphic companies
5:18
in the business Inc your right in Barrie
5:20
Ontario they eagerly took on the task of
5:22
taking FNC one and giving it a facelift
5:24
Ann's and I felt that subtle would be
5:27
nice but it still had to have a mean
5:29
feel to it when you let true artists
5:32
like these graphic experts loose on a
5:34
project like a fancy one the sky's the
5:36
limit
5:37
all we had to say was have at her boys
5:40
joining us now is Mark Kaduri he is with
5:44
ink your ride in Barrie Ontario and they
5:47
gave our FNC one a complete makeover and
5:51
it is absolutely gorgeous the
5:53
personalization of vehicles including
5:56
boats personal watercraft all that is
5:58
really opening up now people are
6:00
realizing the the films available the
6:03
the colors the finishes it's kind of a
6:05
really exciting time in our industry
6:06
because there's innovations happening
6:08
every day with the materials and it is a
6:10
great way to kind of stand out on the
6:12
water with your with your boat just on
6:15
the FMT one we had the black brushed
6:18
steel and it just it turned out
6:21
fantastic
6:25
since Princecraft is based out of Quebec
6:27
a perfect meeting place would be the
6:29
Canuck Nature Reserve situated just
6:31
north of the municipality of Montebello
6:34
Canuck is located in the o2 a region of
6:36
Quebec a 33,000 square kilometer area
6:40
which is made up of 80 percent forests
6:42
more than 20 thousand lakes numerous
6:45
rivers and two reservoirs located close
6:48
to Ottawa and Montreal due to a region
6:50
is unique with its proximity between
6:52
city and nature making it easily
6:54
accessible as for Canuck this place is
6:59
like no other
7:00
we call it Kanak it's an abbreviation of
7:04
a native word for turtle so we liked the
7:08
symbolism of the turtle it's something
7:10
that it combines water and land this
7:13
long-lasting it's friendly and then we
7:16
added on the nature just because of our
7:19
affiliation with the Nature Conservancy
7:22
of Canada and our commitment doing to
7:25
really conserving the natural habitat
7:29
deer on the property for the next
7:31
hundred years it's one of the region's
7:33
biggest kept secrets I guess until now
7:35
and whether you're looking to come up
7:37
for the day or rent a cottage for
7:39
friends or family or there's big cabins
7:41
it can even accommodate for a family in
7:43
reunion there's lots of room lots of
7:45
different sizes lots of different lakes
7:46
for you to come and finish the
7:48
interesting part of property we have so
7:52
many lakes there are over 60 lakes on
7:54
the property because of the geology
7:56
we're right on the edge of the Canadian
7:58
Shield there's a lot of variation in the
8:00
terrain which means a lot of variation
8:02
in the lakes we have a lot of variety of
8:05
fishing everything from rainbow choke to
8:07
speckle choke to Lake trope and then
8:10
also we have warm water species such as
8:12
bass and pike so there's a variety of
8:14
fish that people can come up here and
8:15
catch this is a brand new facility we've
8:19
just finished construction we have a
8:22
trout hatchery here that was built in
8:24
1930 it was remodeled in the 1980s and
8:28
we've just finished a complete
8:30
remodeling again
8:32
so we basically gutted whole parts of
8:34
the farm
8:36
and just built this big dome with all
8:39
these concrete raceways so that we can
8:41
produce better fish faster growing and
8:46
these fish are used for both stocking
8:48
the lakes here on the property and for
8:51
sales to outside fishing associations
8:53
private lakes the fishing here is
8:55
fantastic the average lake trout is 2 to
8:58
4 pounds with of course some larger fish
8:59
Pike over 40 inches are very common as
9:02
well as large and small mouth bass over
9:05
five and six pounds Wow finally that's
9:09
the legendary FNC one hook but I'm
9:12
really impressed with what they've done
9:13
it's a with our stunning makeover
9:18
complete it's time to head to Canuck and
9:21
let Steve as well as JP from Princecraft
9:23
give it the once-over with this being
9:25
Steve's first encounter with our boat we
9:27
have no idea what to expect
9:29
that's it if they're nice to us then
9:32
maybe we'll take them out fishing on one
9:34
of the many lakes that Canuck has to
9:36
offer our home base for this trip is the
9:40
Papineau Chalet on Papineau lake unlike
9:44
most lakes in Canuck this lake has no
9:46
boat and motor restrictions making it
9:48
the perfect display room for FNC one
9:50
with a marina situated just down a
9:53
shoreline from our chalet we have the
9:55
perfect spot the showcase F and c1 and
9:57
all of our modifications my reaction
10:01
when I was invited by Angelo and Pete
10:03
was just excited excitement you know I
10:06
like to fish I'm fishing with my kids
10:09
and my friends and it for me it's a
10:11
great opportunity to come here and spend
10:13
a few days with you guys and they
10:15
discovered a boat that I heard about for
10:17
many years so I'm very glad to be here
10:19
this show is something special because
10:21
it's it's a longtime relationship it's
10:25
totally different I've learned more
10:27
typically we just go out and we fish and
10:29
it's good don't don't get me wrong but
10:31
this is something better I'm getting
10:33
more experience more fact and I'll leave
10:36
with something with some luggage in our
10:38
all be better as a fisherman in the
10:40
future
10:43
Wow finally that's the legendary FNC one
10:47
book the boat layout was significantly
10:52
changed but I'm really impressed with
10:54
what they've done rising the floor
10:56
by having more storage inside they have
10:58
put storage about everywhere which is a
11:00
feature that the every fisherman will be
11:03
looking for our unconvinced it's gonna
11:05
be very interesting to fish around the
11:07
center console fishing boat it's gonna
11:09
be the first time for me and such a
11:11
layout so I I'm looking forward to try
11:14
that center console I was not convinced
11:16
at the beginning but now I'm working at
11:18
it it's pretty convenient to walk around
11:20
the moats and everything with the nets
11:21
and rods and everything so really
11:23
impress me what they've done it's really
11:25
a West Coast custom type of boat which
11:27
is in my mind good thing they have like
11:29
three sonar and - they have one in front
11:31
I want them to learn me how to use this
11:34
tool and really understand how our
11:36
customer really work with that because
11:38
there's many things that those things do
11:41
I may be used 10 percent of it but I
11:43
know those guys you know use 80 90
11:45
percent of what they can do with that so
11:47
that's really what I I focus on and want
11:49
to learn more about I really like what
11:52
they've done with the boat they started
11:54
with a great haul a great hardcore
11:56
fisherman's boat and they made it their
11:58
own they modified to make it the central
12:00
console and had that storage here and
12:02
there and some specific improvements and
12:05
I think it's pretty cool I'm really
12:07
convinced that we've done the good thing
12:09
with the production boat this one is
12:10
really a niche it's something for them
12:13
but the one that we've developed is
12:14
placed on this wood so having the
12:16
airflow system built in with the
12:18
ventilation optional system that we have
12:20
plus the in - sonar plus are throwing
12:22
more apply for 36-month there's plenty
12:24
of other ideas coming out of that boat
12:26
but this one is really something that
12:28
impressed me because it's a it's a hell
12:31
of a moat right so it's really something
12:33
that you're never gonna see anywhere
12:35
[Music]
12:45
[Music]
12:55
today's great fishing destination took
12:58
place a Canuck nature and the you to a
13:00
region of Quebec to get there we first
13:03
grow feast on highway 401 to highway 416
13:06
North we next turn east on highway 17
13:08
and then kept traveling east on highway
13:10
174 to the Ferry and Cumberland once
13:13
across the Ottawa River
13:15
we took 148 East then north on 323 east
13:19
on cote a zelda north on KOAT on shale
13:22
and finally follow the signs to Kanak
13:25
nature's entrance gate now Anne's and I
13:31
know that although GP and Steve came
13:32
along to visit us and our big rig we
13:34
also know that both of them are fishing
13:36
nuts
13:37
unfortunately the immediate weather
13:39
forecast was nothing short of brutal
13:41
when we snuck out of our calm protective
13:44
Bay to take a look it was big wind rain
13:46
and the possibility of sleet and snow
13:48
add to that the fact that our intended
13:51
fishing area was about five miles
13:53
through this nasty stuff in the big
13:55
water a Papineau Lake we decided not to
13:57
put Steve and JP through that misery
13:59
trust me there are a ton of better
14:01
options on the Canuck property plan B is
14:04
to find a small protected body of water
14:06
and Jamie's got the perfect one in mind
14:09
so engine Pete right now we're out on
14:11
Otter Lake it's one of my favourite
14:13
lakes up here at Kanak it's loaded with
14:16
rainbow trout and there's also some
14:17
pretty big bass hiding then around the
14:19
timber
14:20
as with the majority of the lakes on
14:23
connects property otter is a no gas
14:25
motors allowed lake to be honest I was
14:28
relieved at the no gas motor rule when I
14:30
first saw it
14:31
FNC one would be a bit much here
14:34
remember my need for speed
14:36
not gonna happen on this puddle you see
14:39
typically when I go in the new body of
14:40
water I'm reaching to those guys have
14:43
you been there before we look at maps we
14:45
talk about the moon the colors the lures
14:47
to use but basically what I hope is
14:50
after a trip like that is to learn and
14:53
then maybe one day I'll just stop call
14:54
them because I have more experience and
14:56
I'll be better as a fisherman myself
14:59
since it's October and we're limited to
15:02
transom mounted electric motors on small
15:04
Canuck boats trolling is our best bet
15:07
although you may think that spinning
15:09
gear while using light line is the only
15:11
way to troll for trout believe it or not
15:14
trolling flies on fly fishing gear is
15:17
also an extremely effective way to cover
15:19
water especially for suspended trout
15:22
small spoons and spinners are the
15:24
obvious choice for spinning gear while
15:34
either leech or minnow patterns on
15:36
sinking flies work best with fly gear
15:39
there is there is can you with one hand
15:46
a Doughboy
15:48
that's that's the way we do it okay
15:52
where's my friends there it is good job
15:56
buddy
15:56
good job got their beautiful little fish
15:59
yeah they are nice job not pretty and
16:07
that's good eating right there perfect
16:09
size to eat yeah oh yeah good stuff all
16:12
right let's get a few more yeah
16:21
go Steven go are you making out JP oh
16:25
that's nice are you doing JP hey bring
16:35
them all buddy nice job
16:41
nice stuff nice fish put them home buddy
16:44
let him go home
16:50
think that's two-nothing JP not counting
16:59
it's a good job oh it's a gorgeous fish
17:03
and it's not that I don't want to touch
17:06
the fish it's just because I'm freezing
17:08
[Laughter]
17:09
I'll get a fish nice fish though right
17:13
Beauty fish look at the colors alright
17:17
this is a scrapper
17:19
oh yeah it's fast it's fat that's a lot
17:22
oh my god yeah oh yeah it's bigger it's
17:25
bigger oh that's nice nice fish oh yeah
17:29
oh yeah
17:30
No yeah oh yeah attaboy oh that's a nice
17:34
fish oh oh we're in trouble now
17:37
JP is on to him now oh my
17:43
[Music]
17:50
since 1954 Princecraft is building
17:54
unparalleled experience for fishermen
17:56
that's that's really the mission that we
17:57
have since we are building notes we're
18:00
designing engineering and manufacturing
18:02
the best fishing boat fountains and egg
18:05
boats in Canada and in North America one
18:10
thing it's cool with this experience is
18:12
we're learning right and we don't know
18:14
everything so by those experience we
18:16
want to make sure we will increase our
18:18
our functionality make sure the boats we
18:20
develop will be built for our fishermen
18:22
based on those experience this is really
18:24
good for us to learn and build better
18:26
product out there and just look at us in
18:29
the coming years and you'll see that
18:30
it's going to continue to grow and will
18:33
continue to increase you overall I think
18:36
this was a great meeting with the Prince
18:38
craft guys they gave us some love some
18:40
likes and some not so sure on our custom
18:43
break the flooring has been
18:45
significantly changed I don't know well
18:48
why did you decide to go with that type
18:50
of flooring attic and as for the fishing
18:53
I'll bet the guys caught well over 20
18:56
rainbows on a half a day plus a couple
18:58
of bonus largemouth to boot cheers the
19:00
great relationships and fantastic
19:02

19:12
today's hot spot is Otter Lake in Quebec
19:14
skin' och Nature Reserve the waypoint on
19:17
your screen will get you there since
19:19
this is a small bowl shaped lake with
19:21
very little bottom structure we suggest
19:23
trolling for best results covering water
19:25
is the key to success here
19:27
the Princecraft guys did great rolling
19:29
flies while we did equally well using
19:31
small spoons variate rolling speeds for
19:34
better success for a break in the
19:36
rainbow action you can do as Steve did
19:38
and target largemouth bass as well
19:40
we highly recommend bringing a portable
19:42
gps sonar combo once you locate a group
19:45
of fish waypoint and stay with them
19:48
until the action stops then simply look
19:50
for another school and repeat the
19:51
process otter is an electric motor only
19:54
Lake contact Kanak and they can provide
19:56
you with a small boat and trolling motor
