destination for your outdoor adventures Hey good day everybody How you doing out
0:36
there and uh I know it's a different voice for you to hear For those of you listening for those of you that are watching you notice that uh my good
0:44
buddy Angela Veil is not with me today Come on now Ang had a a little mishap the other day I won't get into it too
0:50
much because I know he would he'll kill me if I tell what happened uh uh but uh had a bit of a mishap and today was his
0:56
doctor's appointment day and uh and we needed to get a podcast done this at this moment We are getting behind a
1:02
little bit and so my main man Dino said let's uh let's pull on off here Pety and let's try and do that So that's what
1:08
we're going to do today and uh so hopefully I can pull through this by myself and you know I can keep you with
1:13
me for a bit here We can keep you with us Dean and I sir for a little bit We're going to do what are we doing today Dean you got something special yeah So we
1:19
have a buildup We've been doing all of our fan questions from YouTube now Um so we but we still have people sending them
1:26
in over email all the time So we're going to answer a few of those right my kind of my favorite especially for by
1:31
myself cuz then you know then I don't get swayed by my buddy over here Angelo He can't sway my uh my answer and all
1:37
that stuff Not that he actually does but but at least you can get Pete Bowman's opinion of it Then we could do another
1:43
one We should do this do another one with just an sometime the exact same questions and see how it turns out and never let each other hear each other and
1:50
then and then go for it That'd be good So uh first a little bit of housekeeping Obviously we always talk about
1:55
fishing.com shop.fishingcanada.com store the merch stuff all the nice stuff We we sold a
2:02
whack of them at the sportsman show I mean uh mayhem and we had some old school stuff there too That that and I
2:09
think I'm hoping that'll stay throughout the uh on the on the shelves so to speak You know what I mean because cuz let's
2:15
let's be honest retro stuff uh you know it sells well and people are they're loving that that you mean our new logo
2:21
is great Our fishing can this fish in Canada logo right here It's an awesome logo but the old school logo a lot of people just love that kind of stuff
2:27
Especially when you get it on the right garment like a a trucker hat or something like that These guys I want that I don't you see some young kid
2:33
wearing a trucker hat with an old logo and you're saying wow boy that's that's cool That's nostalgic So uh
2:39
shop.fishingcanada.com or fishingcanada.com you can get all your FishingCanada merch uh listener feedback
2:45
So this is uh not a question This is just our feedback from
2:50
GFear24 via YouTube Uh in response to multiple Fishing Canada episodes Yeah
2:57
he's probably the biggest stickler we have on YouTube A stickler in saying in the sense if uh anytime we hold the fish
3:04
a little too long or do some commentary he's he's honest which is good He keeps us honest Absolutely He's always around
3:11
Really yeah Okay Well gear he's putting a gear into us I guess is what he's
3:16
doing Uh the the biggest issue I have with the show is like this is how long
3:22
you keep the fish out of the water My rule is to hold my breath when I take it out of the water and and get it back
3:30
before I have to exhale In my honest in my honest opinion anything longer than 1 minute is way too long and harmful to
3:37
the fish in the long run And uh you know what i totally agree with that I think Dean probably totally agrees with that
3:43
and uh an agrees with it Even Vulva not even a fisherman he knows you know he
3:48
can probably agree more than anybody because he sees what's happening The problem number one the problem is it's
3:54
not a problem It's it's our our hurdle is a lot of times we're explaining
4:00
something So I got this fish in my hands and oh my god it was a great fight Did you see that oh my god look at the scars
4:05
on the back of this fish He's got a great big bite wound and that and then we just sprayed eggs and all that and all of a sudden you're caught up in a
4:10
little bit of a moment So I think we're pretty good at it You must he must have uh I mean he might have I know Stevie
4:17
was holding him a little bit along that on the other uh on that episode that he did I think it might have been you was it something to do with that one too i
4:22
think it was that one Yeah So no offense to Stevie but Steve's new on camera So that's the thing right steve's uh u
4:30
doesn't have the experience that Ang and I have we kind of know we can shuffle along move it along get along go along
4:35
quicker and and he'll learn in time But uh we we agree with you 100% Um that one
4:41
minute rule even that's long if you ask me that's even longish because try hold your breath for a minute right now
4:47
Anybody sitting there just try and hold your breath for a minute and you're going to say "Oh my god that is very difficult to do." You're not going to
4:54
die You can make it there You're not going to die But so if you can get it back less than a minute it's is for sure
4:59
is better Um landing nets are a a great tool to
5:05
hold a fish in in the water So I mean there are times where we'll just have the fish in the net and talk to the
5:11
camera and he's just swimming around in the net waiting He's got the hook out waiting to go So that's another way we you know we kind of alleviate that
5:17
problem But we get that and we apologize to that We apologize to the fish We apologize to the audience And every now and then we just get caught up in you
5:24
know in yeping and yapping and uh it's unfortunate but I don't I I don't I
5:30
don't recall of any time Dean that uh and you've been on the boat with us a lot that we've actually held the fish so
5:35
long you put it back and it just turns over and dies And that's what I'm wondering about the analogy where you know if you if we were to go underwater
5:42
I mean I think I could probably be underwater for like a minute and a half before I have to come up a fish like
5:48
I've seen them like on stringers for hours half above the water and they still are it's I think it's a little
5:54
different I think it's a little different They can they can deal with oxygen better than we can deal with
5:59
water I think you know or air not oxygen but air better than we can deal with water So it's uh yeah I agree because
6:07
it's like a carp is a great example that thing freaking live forever It's unreal
6:13
the ability for them to live But um but yeah bass and especially trout like I
6:18
mean obviously brook trout brown trout rainbow trout you want to get them as
6:23
quick as you can back on the water and you hold them in the water while you're talking to the camera let them recoup a little bit and let them go And it's easy
6:29
if you're on land in a boat's a little more difficult but we get you buddy We get you and we will try our best I'm
6:35
going to slap Stevie in the hand and I'm going to beat him Now I can beat him up because he's lost a ton of weight so I can try and beat him up a little bit and
6:42
and we'll go from there So thank you for that And anybody else remember that uh via YouTube via
6:47
infoishingcanada.com Facebook Instagram send us you know listener feedback send
6:52
us questions Stay in touch with us We're uh we're happy to deal with it good bad or ugly So thanks for that Next Dean
6:59
conservation corner The conservation corner Okay we got to do a little conservation corner As you've been hearing Ang and I talk about the tench
7:07
another invasive species There he is up there A pretty be I I swear it looks
7:12
like a perch If you put a spiny dorsal fin on the back of that thing that would look just like a perch pretty much Like no no no scales just like a tiny scale
7:20
perch or something like that Like a mini scaler There's differences but but that shows you right there the head of that
7:26
For those that are watching for those that are listening we have a picture and you should try and maybe pull this out Do we have our site that same picture i
7:32
believe we do Y yeah So if you look at that picture look at the head of that fish right there And that looks exactly
7:38
like a yellow perch To me it does anyways And I've caught a lot of yellow perch in my day So I would I could you
7:44
know mistake that for it So uh people might think "Oh look at this perch Oh it was nice." And you caught it and you throw it back But you got to remember um
7:51
I'll read you the little blip that we have The the tench uh is a medium-sized
7:58
deep body fish with small scales as you can see rounded fins and a single barbble on each side of the mouth There's a giveaway right there compared
8:04
to a perch These striking olive color fish were brought into Canada illegally in 1986 and were then escaped and made
8:12
their way into the St Lawrence River which is a great pathway for a lot of them An easy pathway for a lot of
8:17
invasive species although not established in the Great Lakes They have been spotted as far south as the Bay of Quinty in Lake Ontario which is an area
8:24
that I frequent a lot So I'm going to keep my eye out for them They're highly adaptable in new environments They
8:30
compete with native fish uh like the small fish like minnows and bullheads suckers etc etc And of course they eat
8:36
all the food that those fish eat too So um they can out compete in a big way and
8:41
it typical of all invasives when they call it an invasive species There's a real there's a problem with that You know what I mean they come in there and
8:47
it just it totally disrupts the environment and they can they can wipe out stuff Certain fish can wipe out
8:53
other fish species our you know our main fish species To learn more about tench including how to identify them visit the
8:59
invasive species center website Uh you can uh if you see anything report them
9:04
It's an invading species hotline or
9:11
eddmaps.com edmaps.com And help uh keep our waterways free of invaders like the
9:17
tench Come on now Uh-huh And what do we got now Dino in
9:22
the news In the news This is a good one Read me the title Dean This is I don't want you to read me the title Lake Erie
9:28
had 90% ice cover this winter Environmental impacts Question
9:34
mark Yeah that's what you'll see on the website You're going to see this So it is on the website Uh Dean and I were
9:40
talking about this earlier on and I'll tell you a little story after this too Dean you don't even know about this story yet because it just happened
9:45
yesterday But um for a lake like Lake Erie one of the Great Lakes any of the
9:51
Great Lakes but we're talking Lake Erie this is when they uh be the N National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
9:59
satellite data Come on now Looked at Thank you NOAA uh said that 95% of the ice was covered
10:06
on February 18th in 2025 So that's not that long ago for us Um it's obviously
10:12
reducing now because of the warmer weather but it hit the peak of that cold spell But for a lake that size to to
10:19
freeze almost over is absolutely insane because I mean anybody that lives along
10:25
the Great Lakes here for those of you that don't live near us we'll drive all winter long along the 401 that corridor
10:31
and you'll look out to your south to your right or left doesn't I mean whatever right side of the road you're on and you're going to see the waves
10:37
pounding on these windy days It's open water 24/7 Yeah 365 right you don't even
10:44
see ice going out 25 ft off the shore sort of like that for so for a lake like
10:49
Erie to freeze almost over is absolutely insane to me I don't know Oh yeah And
10:56
you heard you looked up some stats for for other lakes right the other great lakes because I remember this time last
11:01
year we were covering a story that like 19% of the Great Lakes were iced over and there were all these like
11:07
environmental concerns because of it right so this year or so in the in in in
11:13
history the only one to ever ice over is actually Lake Superior which is
11:18
surprising because it's by far the biggest but it's also the most north Yeah But it's the deepest too isn't it
11:23
isn't it it is the deepest Yeah Yeah So I don't I don't know if like if you compared Eerie's depth to Superior's
11:29
depth does one freeze faster or easier than the other i don't know Like I mean if both temperature easier right yeah I
11:36
mean that that north a lot right lake Superior starts at Sus Staint Marie and goes north of that So it's a you know
11:42
it's up there for sure Yeah So 1996 was when Superior froze over completely Wow
11:48
Uh Lake Michigan's best year was in 2014 with 93% Lake Hiron in 1996 had 98%
11:56
Wow Uh Lake Erie uh it froze over completely in 1978,79 and 1996 So I guess it has
12:04
frozen over before just like Superior And then Lake Ontario's best year ever was in 1979 with 86% Okay So Lake
12:13
Ontario is the least amount of ice of all of them And and Michigan is the farthest south and it froze over more
12:19
than Lake Ontario I I don't I don't know I mean they're so big Lake Ontario is kind of round So maybe because of the
12:24
wave action that's always going on there Like I said when we look out you always see white caps out there It's forever
12:29
And with the day with nowadays with the the way winds are all the time I can't see how it would ever freeze over again Does water move more through Lake
12:36
Ontario because of the river or is there more that's a good question but I' I'd have to say oh god I mean the south end
12:44
of Superior comes into St Mary's River a lot of flow there All these lakes they have their certain flow but yeah the
12:50
eastern basin of Lake Ontario would be moving into into St Lawrence River So that might get a little bit more but
12:55
that's one of the areas that freezes over which is one of my part of my story here So um one of my my question to to
13:01
anybody you you too Dean is would the water levels be more
13:08
affected by snow melting so lots of snow with not very
13:14
much ice in a winter you know what I mean versus lots of ice with very little
13:19
slow snow What would the water levels be i'm going to think lots of ice would
13:26
would make water levels higher because snow is like almost all air So the runoff of snow see I'm thinking the
13:34
runoff of snow going into the rivers into the creeks off the shoreline into the lake because Lake Ontario is low
13:40
every year now lately You know it's ridiculous what I've read um and they mentioned it They quoted a scientist in
13:46
this story who was saying the main reason that um lots of ice creates
13:51
higher water levels is because no water can evaporate in the winter So you're not losing any water Okay So I think
13:58
that's a bit that makes sense And if it was a warmest winter with no ice maybe
14:03
the water could evaporate So yeah that makes sense Okay So I've always wondered about that because we're the levels are nuts all the time now right so and
14:10
flooding and all that kind of stuff So anyways that's uh that's all on fishingcanada.com our news story If
14:16
anybody wants to check it out it's uh it's kind of interesting And when you start reading that kind of stuff do like Dean and I did we say "Hey what about
14:22
Lake Ontario what about the rest of the lakes?" You start seeing all these lakes that have done it and have froze over and haven't etc etc etc So um yeah Yeah
14:30
that's it Hey D Yeah And this brings us to our main segment Our main segment
14:36
brought to us by sale Brought to you by sale brought to everybody by sale home for fishing and hunting and camping and
14:43
everything outdoors And I haven't been to our sale in about two weeks So I'm hurting I'm jonesing I've got my uh I'm
14:49
going to go in there I think I'm going in this weekend actually Just get it get it prepped up I know every every week
14:54
now they're putting new stuff on the shelves and you got to get in there before everybody else buys it up So all the spring stuff's probably in there now
15:00
Probably getting in there right now Yeah The old sportsman show time and all that kind of stuff right so I think everybody's prepping up for the big sale
15:06
and all that stuff So so brought to us by sale Head over there either at at one
15:11
that's close by or at sale.ca and tons of sales at sale all the time Come on
15:16
now Okay So do you want to read the questions to me or you want me to read the questions to you um I think you can
15:24
take them if you want here This one is specifically for you because this is not my wheelhouse I'm I'm excited to learn a
15:30
little bit about this Okay All right So the first question we have ladies and gentlemen boys and girls total of ages
15:36
Adam Hopcraftoft I love that name Hopcraft I've never heard that name before I love when I hear new names too
15:42
by the way So that's cool Via email any tips on reading side imaging
15:49
Good You got you got you got her up there right now So this this will be beneficial for people to be watching
15:54
this on on YouTube versus uh just the podcast but I will try to explain it as best as I can in a quick fashion Um I
16:02
didn't really use a whole lot of side imaging uh until about four or five years ago and which is crazy that you'd
16:07
think I would have I used it here and there and but I just didn't use a lot of it And then I got thinking it's insane I
16:14
got this tool in my boat that is a perfect way to figure a whole ton of
16:19
lake around you You got to start using it So I started using it So the the first tip I would give anybody is put
16:26
your fishing rods down Maybe don't even bring your fishing rods out If you have a cottage lake especially leave the fishing rods in the dock Don't even
16:32
think about fishing for now Keep your your GPS handy and your sidefinder handy and the GPS hand You don't even need the
16:38
GPS handy but that's for marking way points and and basically get the best
16:44
transducer you can A better transducer gives you a better image So Garmin's world is a GT-54 and a GT-56 The 56 is a
16:53
better unit It costs more money but it gives you a much better picture especially with side imaging It gives
16:58
you that really clear good strong signal Good shadow is good everything else So and basically I like to go just above
17:07
trolling speed I get up a cup of coffee and I just sit there and I start driving around the lake and I just start going
17:12
back and forth and to and fro going You know obviously you're looking for um points or or anything on the shoreline
17:19
gives you an indication there's something good But this image right here be behind me u for those listening it's
17:26
showing a very nothing bottom for the most part farther out especially on the
17:31
right hand side but closer to where the boat is there's a bunch of marks a bunch of rocks so that's the kind of your
17:38
first indication you're just looking for something different Um look at it like a
17:43
if you were looking at a desert and then there'd be an oasis there That's where
17:48
you'd be Everything would be the little water hole the little trees and all that kind of stuff You're looking for these little clusters of stuff that are out
17:54
there And you're not necessarily looking for fish I look for for spots first and
18:00
foremost and then I might look for fish afterwards but usually these spots have fish on them So that's basically all I
18:06
do I I set the contrast nice and high because I like a contrasty look So in this picture here you're going to see good contrast meaning the blacks are
18:13
really black really dark and the lights are really light So there's a whole big variance in there It sometimes it takes
18:19
away from the picture It takes away from your uh ability to see fish sometimes
18:24
But when you you dial it into what your eyes like to see and then go from there And you'll see that on on these in this
18:30
picture all the rocks are bright on the one side and they're dark on the other that means it's a shadow So it's just
18:35
basically a it's like a picture It's like the sun is shining down on these pictures So that's all I do is I and I
18:41
just start driving around driving around and I look for anything different here I wouldn't even mark this picture right
18:46
here I wouldn't even mark but I would start scanning more in this area because I know there's rocks here now This is a
18:52
picture of rocks So I would definitely start really working back and forth and to and fro on the rocks That left side
18:57
over there there's something going on with that that those little ridges and all that kind of stuff It might be a
19:03
point coming down It might be some weeds over there There's something going on there versus this side there's not a whole lot going on So I would maybe take
19:09
the boat turn left and start driving around there and scanning And as soon as you see something good you drop a waypoint in So yeah Is there any other
19:16
pictures on there and you and you can actually um you can tap on the screen
19:21
where you see something and create your waypoint there I'll do that right now I'll show you with this picture right here So in this picture this is a shot I
19:28
took This was a GT50 a J 36 a GT36 back in the day So actually that's No that's
19:34
still a modern So that you see that on the left side it says a GT36 UHD plus GT8 HW What that is is the sidefinder
19:43
transducer itself is this guy and the down and the down imaging And then the GT8 is the flasher You put them both
19:49
together on a on a fiberglass boat and you can put a Y cable But the GT36 is the same as the GT-56 is the high
19:55
quality What this is is the left circle for those that are looking The left
20:01
circle is actually a musky And I only know that not because I can identify it here It's because the lake has musky
20:09
walleye largemouth and smallmouth on it And the there's no walleye in that lake
20:14
that are that big That's a big fish on that thing That's so that's a musky up
20:19
well off the bottom And the circle on the right is showing a shadow So basically my beam is scooting down like
20:25
this It hit the musky and boom over there leaves a shadow That shadow between the musky and the shadow shows
20:32
you how far off the bottom that fish is So that fish is a good casting fish That fish is a good trolling fish It's
20:37
something where your bait is up off the bottom But that's exactly what it is Now what Dean was saying if you uh if I saw
20:43
that fish and I wanted to mark a waypoint I would touch that fish icon and then the the screen pauses or I'd
20:50
pause the screen There's a pause button in the bottom left You see over there touch that icon and then in the top
20:55
right there's a little thing that comes up that marks your waypoint and you would touch that to mark your waypoint
21:01
Do not touch the mark that'll come down on the screen here That' be something that says mark on the bottom of your screen because that marks where your
21:06
boat is It doesn't mark where the fish is So it would mark to the left of that fish you know 10 feet or whatever it is
21:12
So I hope I explained that Does that explain it right exactly i have one more pretty good example here This one is
21:17
pretty crazy example of bait Yeah Um there's a great example of bait fish and that is essentially you know they're
21:24
pretty much they were they were pretty much right under the boat and uh and it could it could even be crappy You know
21:31
you never know Crappie sometimes show up like that They really bunch up close like that or perch or bluegill Um but
21:37
it's definitely small fish There's not a school of big fish right there You can just see the tiny little wee marks So easy to see in that black area That's
21:43
the water column Basically the water going down And it's just kind of a a black area that you just don't worry
21:49
about the bottom of that black area Just worry about everything in between you and that black area because it shows up
21:55
even better than over here So uh but that's another great example of bait You I wouldn't mark that with a waypoint but
22:01
I would definitely be looking around for more schools of bait like that Looking around for fish around this area of the
22:06
bait So it's it's a it's just a great tool to cover water and learn all about
22:13
the water And then like I said if you have a fishing rod in the boat you're going to have a temptation to cast and
22:18
cast and cast Well in the case of that musky that's yeah it's justified But if you're just looking for structure bait
22:23
and all that kind of stuff mark your way points then come back and cast or just leave the rods in the locker on the deck
22:28
and then come back and say "Okay let's fish this area now." So yeah And we do have an article on the on the website that breaks all of it down It has like
22:35
screenshots like a bunch of them that we kind of break down and tell you what's going on And and there's another tip
22:43
take screenshots learn how to take a screenshot on your unit no matter what unit you're using But on the on the
22:48
Garmins basically on our Garmin uh Echo Maps we all you have to do is hold push
22:53
and hold the home button So it's a on a on a a touch screen You push and hold the home button and then all of a sudden
23:00
the screen freezes and then a couple seconds later boom a JPEG file has been saved to your SD card And then when you
23:06
have all these images you know throughout the winter throughout anytime even that night you go home I got to see what that was and you put it back in
23:12
your computer and you take a look at it and it's actually fun I I do it all the time I take screenshots upon screenshots
23:17
and then I go back and say "Look at this." Or you send it to your buddies say "Look at this what I saw the other day." They said "Where was that?" You
23:22
know I know one I'll give you one quick instance where side finding without seeing fish I was bass fishing in
23:28
October or November uh up north of here couple hours north And I just drove the
23:34
perimeter of this bay and I marked everything I could see So there's weeds and rocks basically Mark mark mark I
23:40
went about four or five way points Went back to the first one I fished it and I was live scoping it I didn't see
23:47
anything live scope And literally on my sixth seventh cast I caught like a sixb
23:52
largemouth And that was strictly to do with side finding Nothing else I found it I could use the live scope to see
23:57
where I was sitting on that rock pile But that six pounder came because of of uh sight imaging So I I'm bad for it Now
24:04
that I have live scope I have trouble switching away You It's the hardest thing in the world Yeah it's the hardest thing to get away from But you still
24:11
just like not have it and take like an old you like like my old one out and just try Yeah Yeah You know it's a good
24:17
idea but you get very reliant on life scope There's no doubt about it There's just it's it's part of the the modern
24:24
day fisherman now you know if you want to use it So but there hopefully that explains a bit about I mean sidebing We
24:30
could talk about that for an hour I mean all the the items in fish winding but we'll we'll move on from that Uh that
24:37
was from uh Adam Hopcraft Thanks Adam Uh next one is from Oh G Yates again is it
24:44
or is that Do we have Oh yeah you're right He He's I didn't realize he double dipped GH look at you Hey from YouTube
24:51
Question for an Pete and or Dean So good This would be a good one for Oh this is a real good one for Dean What is your
24:57
favorite outdoor themed book slashmov slashtv show besides Fishing Canada of
25:04
course And what and what do you enjoy about it do you uh want to take some shot of that
25:10
i I can do the books if you want Sure I got one book but I'll let you take that one Sure So I have a couple here The first one I recommend to everyone uh
25:18
even if the question isn't about the outdoors but A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Wheelup It's like he's kind of like
25:24
the godfather of North American conservation So it's not really a fishing book and it it it touches on
25:30
hunting but it's more um he was the first one to kind of put into words the idea that we should treat nature like
25:38
we're part of it and not something above it And that kind of translated into all of our conservation policies we have now
25:45
like only take a small amount Um you know that nature has intrinsic value
25:50
instead of just monetary value So you know a bass is worth being alive even though you can't sell it for money that
25:57
kind of idea Wow Um it's a really good book and it's well written Like it's it I read it almost every year It's
26:02
incredible Really yeah Um then uh The River Y is a a novel I think there's
26:08
actually a movie I think Um I've never seen it but when I looked it up um Amber Herd is the the lead you know Johnny
26:15
Depp's Amber Turd XY Yeah Yeah The one who was in the So if you want to see her she's in there No way Yeah Um but the
26:22
book's amazing It's a It's a bit of like a deeper book I guess like lots of
26:28
philosophy and stuff in it I don't know how cheesy they made the movie so maybe me recommending this is kind of cheesy
26:33
but it it it's definitely worth reading And then um the last one um A Good Life
26:39
Wasted I actually found this when we were moving out of the old uh Pinepost
26:45
studio Yeah Uh when we were cleaning up like the upstairs area where all the tapes were I found this in there and an
26:50
just let me have it and I read it I didn't think it would be Yeah You ever heard of it before never heard of it No But the cover was kind of interesting I
26:57
have it on the screen there but it's like a wine glass sitting on a rock Good Yeah Yeah Yeah And it's about guiding
27:02
And it says on the back um it's like it the quote was uh what happens to wild
27:08
people when the wilderness is gone And it's about people who are like immersed in the guiding industry and immersed in
27:14
like natural resources but then the area becomes more modern And I think it's
27:19
based in Montana They're saying the wild people being the guides etc Yeah the wild people being the guides and then
27:25
you know somewhere like Boseman going from like a like a town where lots of
27:30
like guides would be to like a city where people are just okay you know So it it's it's it's a pretty interesting
27:36
book Cool 20 years as a fishing guide There you go There's three of them there folks The only fishing book that I would
27:43
recommend to anybody and it's only because I've read very few of them is uh believe it or not is Roland Martin wrote
27:49
a book years ago Roland Martin's 101 Bass Catching Secrets And it's just a it's just a because I read it so long
27:56
ago it stuck with me you know what I mean it's kind of like one of those books that just And you see so many different he Roland's so good at
28:02
everything he does you know what I mean and from anecdotes to to truth to
28:08
stories it just doesn't matter He says what he I remember one he had a how he catch a spinner how would you catch a
28:14
bass Dean vertically away from the boat with a spinner bait
28:20
So you want a vertical fish from medial away Yeah With a spinner bait Probably
28:25
flip it let it get to bottom and like rip it up like a but it works back It
28:31
works vertically as long as you want it to H I have no idea So he fluked that
28:36
What what he did one day he was fishing up a row of trees and casting the spinner bait under the trees and finally
28:43
he went one and went through the tree limbs and it dropped in the water and he goes "Oh my god I got to get out of here." And he caught a bass doing it So
28:49
then all of a sudden he starts doing this He says the whole day he started throwing his bass the spinner bait through the branches of the trees
28:54
dropped it down He could vertical jig under the trees The spinner bait That's Roland Martin right there So So that's
29:00
him One of my uh query very quickly TV shows Um I watch a lot of fishing shows
29:06
I watch them for different reasons I watch them for the competition I watch them for you know whatever But uh God I
29:14
I don't I don't even know what to to say on that I know KBD's got a new fishing show out I I like it It's good He's very
29:20
good on camera Uh but it's very ba very much based on bass and and Michigan bass
29:26
and stuff like that Um I don't know what any sometimes the saltwater shows I like
29:31
watching some of the saltwater shows if they're crazy enough Um but you know I watch a lot of fishing TV but I don't
29:37
have a specific in there in that sense Do you watch any you uh I watch lots but like all kind of in our circle right so
29:45
yeah I don't I don't seek out a whole lot on TV other than just ours I watch I
29:50
watch uh my parents have always had Wild TV or now like sportsman channel So I've
29:55
always just watched everything I like the Lers I just watched theirs at lunchtime today I watched the Angling Edge They were on uh uh in Saskatchewan
30:02
catching big pike and carp uh so in Saskatchewan So I like their stuff and even the old fishermanmen I I like that still a little bit too So I watch a lot
30:10
of it but they just I scan through it There's so much of it now They just I mean these channels especially channels they're they're on all the time So um
30:17
have at her if you want So hopefully we answered uh Gates's question from enough Anyways Uh
30:24
John Shandra sounds right Is that right via email Are
30:30
there any bass lures that are effective for musky you're damn right there are buddy
30:36
But you don't musky fisherman won't tell you that They won't say that because they don't totally agree But for all
30:42
sizes of musky there's definitely um definitely baits out there that'll musky
30:48
will love Um okay there you go Right there That's the my my number one musky
30:54
bait right there A 15 Well that's a bigger one but I say about about an eighth of an ounce jig head on a 3-in
31:00
Ned rig I can't believe how many muskies I catch on that thing on certain lakes I just it's ridiculous And pike too So it
31:07
means that the EOCs love it for some stupid reason And I don't know why they just I mean if I don't get bit off um I
31:15
noticed I don't know if I told this on a different podcast I was telling Dean uh I was really watching these muskies on a
31:22
certain lake in the fall on live scope because I was throwing the Ned rig and I I caught on the weekend I probably caught five or six muskies at least and
31:29
broke off at least five or six more And I'm thinking what the hell are they doing but I caught a lot of them on the side of the mouth just like that right
31:34
on the outside in the mandible hooked perfectly but on the side of the mouth and I and I watched my live scope on one
31:41
of them before I looked at that hook and that and the fish had literally turned
31:46
up nose down It was staring down at my bait up above the bottom So like that like that and then all of a sudden I
31:53
felt the bite So what I thought was the bite I I literally think that they're doing like walleye do with with jigging
32:00
wraps They're pinning these baits on the side of their face against the bottom I really do believe that after seeing that
32:06
the way he came down like that and didn't take it in his mouth So I think they're actually bumping it and attacking it not liking it or or doing
32:13
something So but but that's not a good that's really not a good example of what he's asking That's just what I catch
32:19
most of them on I'll tell you one that is a killer bass baits a killer musky
32:24
bait is a chatterbait They faking love chatterbaits There's something about
32:29
that And they doesn't have to be a giant size chatterbait a half ounce uh something bright usually that yellowish
32:35
color but it doesn't really matter color either And they just love chatterbaits
32:40
you know And then bass size jerkbaits like 110 mm jerkbaits 120 mm jerkbaits
32:46
that kind of stuff They just kill that stuff So have they made a chatterbait that's like massive like that yeah I saw
32:52
one The sale used to sell one It would destroy your arm Yeah I I I would think it would too but but I never tried it so
33:00
I can't really say There's a Zman makes one called uh it's a big it's a larger size
33:06
Chatterbait I can't remember what they call it There's a name for it And it's got a a big blade That's what it's called A big blade chatterbait And it
33:12
has much bigger blade even the same weight/ ounce You know they go up bigger 3/4 and even 1 oz But uh and you can
33:18
feel the difference between that one and let's say you know a 38 ounce You can feel the difference quite a bit So I
33:23
can't imagine what a musky one would do I've often said why don't they get more musky style chatterbaits out there
33:30
because I'll tell you what in the smaller versions the muskies crack them Now again they're not big muskies The
33:36
ones I'm catching you know I'm not catching these big St Lawrence fish on that And although I have done that too
33:41
Um but yeah and a spinner bait's another good one too So a bass spinner bait I'm sure if it's in front of a musky and
33:47
he's hungry he's going to crack it anyways right so but I'd say a chatterbait would be probably the best one So uh hopefully that answers John's
33:55
question Um Caleb Caleb Mallister via
34:00
email Caleb I love that name Caleb what do you guys fish for during
34:06
the shoulder seasons eg march and April when ice fishing is closed and open
34:12
water fishing is difficult I just remember remember the story I was going to tell you about ice fishing and I forgot We're talking about Lake Erie
34:17
Before we get to Caleb I got to tell this story because it's very interesting Marino Viola stopped in the office yesterday and he said there's a warning
34:24
on Lake Ontario right now as we speak that warning all ice fishermanmen to be
34:31
very cautious in the well I'm going to call it bath but I
34:37
don't know where I say the lake Ontario and from Kingston out to Lake Ontario so on that shoreline you know what I'm
34:43
talking about Dean I don't know if people can picture this the south uh southoutheastern part of Lake Ontario
34:48
between there and Ammer Mer Island There's a big island out front of uh in front of Bath area uh on Lake Ontario
34:55
and it freezes This is a gap that freezes every year and they're warning
35:00
ice anglers that there's going to be a gigantic ship that is going through from
35:05
St Lawrence River to I believe in Bayquini maybe to the cement plant or
35:10
wherever it's going and it's going to break up all that ice So if these guys are out there and they launch on the
35:16
mainland and they get out there and take their ATVs over towards the other side they're going to see this giant ship
35:21
coming and he's going to break up all the ice and all the access that they have back to the land Wow So I've never
35:27
heard of that before You know what I mean so could you could you imagine seeing a giant ship be terrifying Yeah
35:32
Yeah What about the people who like aren't online i don't know I don't know what they're going to do Maybe maybe
35:38
there'll be a cop there warning you know stopping them because the the boat launch of Finkles or something like that Maybe there'll be some police which they
35:44
should do probably have police say "Hey guys by the way you know if you're going to ice fish you better do it right here You don't want to get out there
35:50
past they would have to go onto Ammers Island and then they would have to drive all the way back to the east end of
35:55
Ammers Island and then they could take the ferry back uh with their ATV or their snowmobile or whatever they'd be
36:01
on I don't know what the hell the hell they get on it depending on their modes of trans transportation." But yeah that
36:06
was uh that was interesting And and I didn't even know what that effect would have You know how like the water
36:11
underneath the ice does that you know a big ship like that it puts huge waves out Now I know they don't go fast when
36:18
they're breaking ice but it's got to do something It's got to affect something right oh I'd imagine it affect it all
36:23
the way into the bay Like even if it's just pushing ice to the cement plant all the way down the lake you'd have effect
36:29
of that for sure Yeah there's got to be some a rolling effect and maybe breaks the ice and all of a sudden you're on a Berg that floats out and you're in
36:36
trouble and you're all of a sudden there's no you know no way of getting back to any land whatsoever So I was
36:41
terrifying to so hopefully nobody gets caught on that But anyway I just thought of that when Reno said that So back to
36:46
the What do you guys fish during the shoulder seasons do you have anything Dean that you do i do lake trout in
36:51
March Last year I don't know that I did this winter I think March late March is
37:00
probably when I'm going to be able to do it But the lake trout in the Great Lakes are always open Um and that's the only
37:06
time of year I like to go for them is like right when the ice is out Um you can get them casting and you can get
37:13
them I downrig them uh more towards like midappril but they're still they're in like 40 ft of water 50 ft of water and
37:20
they're like everywhere So from that March to that April they've already
37:25
dropped down that much Well they're probably in that all the winter too right yeah The last couple years it probably depends on the year Like we
37:31
haven't had a winter like this in a while right so this year might be a little different but normally Yeah 45 ft
37:36
50 ft Um but the nice thing like that time like they're so easy to spot Like
37:41
there are like and when you hook them like you can see down 40 feet like the water's so clear and cold and they're so
37:49
aggressive It's oh it's so much fun Right Now there'd be a good example where you could use your sidefinder to
37:54
see some fish Oh yeah But you're but you're trolling right so you have to you'd have to really be you'd have to
38:00
have a game plan because you'd see them You'd mark them with your with your sidefinder mark waypoint there Then you'd have to do a big swing back But
38:07
they're very scattered Are they not at that time of year yeah Yeah But this year my plan is to kind of cherrypick
38:12
them like we did on the episodes this year at Wabaka and Tmogamy I've never done that before I have my live scope on
38:18
the boat now I think that would be so much fun It should work the exact same I mean they're not I don't think they're
38:24
going to be cruising at at any high break neck speeds right i don't think so You you you look around you see one or
38:30
two fish you go and try and pop them off and then you learn what the bigger ones look like versus the smaller ones cuz there's there's smaller ones but Lake
38:36
Ontario has got some massive pie you know what I mean so we did that thing in February last year We took the boat out in February and that little worm spell
38:44
we had and and it was just a trolling bite but oh my god you're It was about 50 ft of water It was 50 ft deep The
38:49
fish were varied in depth going down But yeah we cracked them good I've got I almost do the same thing um as per the
38:56
question is but I I concentrate a lot on pike at that time of year So when that pike when the water when the ice goes
39:02
out in the end of March um and boat launches open up as long as the boat launches are available open up if
39:08
they're private then they have to you know obviously open and be available uh which they usually are But I try to go
39:13
for pike at that time of year So even um uh one of our first ones that we always do uh Mikey Burus and I is the Napony
39:19
River Mike's been on to that for years And the river being a river flowing water it opens up even earlier than so
39:25
by the end of March uh that's perfectly open And we you know there's there's no there's big fish there but I've never
39:31
caught any Mikey's got a couple of big ones But we got a nice feed of you know four to six pounders and we just have a
39:37
riot getting out there and catching the first fish of the year And when it gets good when you have that right day it's typical of pike fishing
39:43
They can be just loaded They can just fish everywhere and you're catching you know 20 30 fish days So it's a nice way
39:49
to to break up or start the spring from the winter time So that's pretty much my my favorite way of doing it I would do
39:55
bass if I could but and you can but I don't know how I don't know where they
40:00
are at that time That's my stump in April In April my god it's the best
40:05
month of the year for this for this zone 20 uh extended season It's it's unreal But in the end of March I can't get them
40:12
in the end of March If anybody wants to take me out guide me fishing I I I'm there We go largemouth fishing and in a
40:18
march I'm in So So I hope that answers the question Uh next one Uh Jake
40:26
Thornton uh via email Sorry a little pause there I'm just thinking of stuff Have you guys
40:32
ever witnessed someone poaching and if so what did you do about it as a matter of fact I did Well I don't you can't
40:39
call it poaching what he was doing but he was illegally fishing is what he was doing So I went into a spot one time and
40:44
I saw a guy and I at first I didn't think anything of it There was a bunch of people around the the shoreline They
40:50
were all communicating with with each other and uh I didn't think anything of it but you know I was fishing close to
40:57
them and and then all of a sudden I watched one of the guys and he's got a float out there and he's fishing with a
41:02
float and he's pan fishing Cool And then all of a sudden I see another float He goes to he looks at another direction
41:08
and he goes to another rod and he had another float So he had two rods fishing two rods in a one rod zone So basically
41:15
all I I just did hey buddy Uh you know you're fishing illegally there eh and of
41:21
course no offense to anybody here but of course it was no speak English I don't speak English I I don't know what you're
41:26
talking about You know he took me five minutes to to to communicate with him but I finally just said "Hold my fishing
41:31
rods up Two rods No." Boom One rod Yes like that Like that And he he went back
41:37
to fishing And then of course I I was around the area Looked back later and he was doing it again So I immediately I
41:43
called the M&R right there Uh tips M&R I think is what it is Actually you can get
41:49
it as soon as you pull up on the internet You can you can get the number And um although they I don't think they
41:54
came but I did know the the the vehicle they came in because there's only one boat launch in that area and there was
42:01
only one other vehicle there aside from mine So I took down the the make and took pictures of the car and then gave
42:06
the license plate to the M&R Never heard anything back about it but I I did call it in because you know piss on it I'm
42:12
not afraid to call it in You don't want to go up on the bank and start fighting with these guys especially when there's more than one of them You don't want to
42:18
get yourself you know probably beat up or worse But yeah if you if you ever
42:23
come to these situations don't be afraid to to call the M&R on them because uh what they're doing is illegal And uh no
42:29
matter who it is I mean rednecks to uh lawyers to everything in between if they're if they're illegally fishing
42:36
Have you ever seen it Dean you ever seen anybody i never seen anyone poaching I have kind of an interesting story from a tournament though So I started
42:42
tournament fishing when I was like I think 12 or 14 Too young to um be able
42:48
to do it on my own So I would always be like a co-angler in these proam tournaments Um and at that age I think
42:56
people normally like didn't want to partner with me probably because you're getting like a like a kid in your boat right but anyways I was with one guy and
43:02
we were struggling the entire day and we had four fish in the boat The if the
43:07
tournament ended at 4:00 it was like 320 when I hooked one and brought it in It was like 10 in There's a five fish limit
43:14
That's a five fish limit Yeah And in most tournaments that I've been in um 12 in is like the absolute minimum Like you
43:21
can't bring anything in that's less than that And I knew just by looking at this that this was not 12 in But he was like
43:27
"Ah why don't you put it in the live well?" You know we only have four like like it's not going to hurt And I was I was like "Well it is going to hurt."
43:32
Like you could do get penalized And and I didn't want to do it But he was it was it's his boat He was like the pro or
43:38
whatever So we put it in the live well and at weigh in he he gets called over
43:44
and they say "You know this fish is 10 in We're disqualifying you like half the
43:49
weight." And he was like "Oh like the kid really wanted it Like he caught it and he was so excited and he wanted it
43:55
in the boat and I was just standing in the c like in the audience like "Are you kidding me now?" Like it made me look so mad God So I had to go up to I I knew
44:03
the guy who was running the tournament at the time and I explained it to him and said "God by the way like that's not
44:09
what happened." I don't know how seriously they took me cuz I again I was like 14 or something but yeah but it was
44:15
pretty bad Yeah Yeah I I would imagine you sounded pretty sincere and all that but but that I can't I just can't
44:22
imagine why a guy a quote you know not the pro he's probably not a pro If he's doing that he's not a pro that's for
44:27
sure But you know this this older tournament fisherman get even telling
44:32
you to do that Like I don't even get that cuz you know there's a penalty Yeah Like as soon as the in the end of your
44:38
weight is combined no matter which fish you guys catch right it's both your weight I'm assuming Right And if we're doing that bad like just weigh in four
44:45
four cuz what happened is you got even less than four your four weight after that right so you're penalized You put
44:51
your four fish in and then they take away whatever penalty is on that little fish So that wasn't too brilliant either
44:57
No So I don't know if that's a poaching story but it's No but it's a good story It's a real Yeah And it's good reality
45:04
check for people that it's just it happens all the time Stuff like that right people Some people just don't give a They just go for it So so but
45:11
that's the only thing I've never I don't think I've ever seen anybody um you know even in my hunting days I
45:18
don't think I've seen anybody shoot anything illegal Yeah that's where it's a little sketchier on the water It's not
45:23
as scary I guess if you have to call someone in or have like a confrontation with someone boat to boat In the woods
45:29
that's where you'd be nervous to see something you're not supposed to Exactly Especially when you want to call them out and they've got a a 30 odd six in
45:36
their hand or something like that Right You know what I mean and it's kind of like oh what do I do now so that's when you would call the M&R right then and
45:43
there and be quiet about it and don't even let them know that you've called the M&R or something like that Like don't threaten them or anything like that because yeah it could get it could
45:49
get pretty ugly So but it's it's I guess it's a good closing on this question is
45:55
that it's good that we haven't seen a whole lot of it It means there's a lot of law biting because I mean we've seen a lot of anglers in our days and a lot
46:02
of hunters in our days right and for the most part they seem to be doing everything legally at least So which is
46:07
a good thing So we'll leave it at that on that one That was from uh Jake Thanks
46:13
Jake Um Travis Delaney Delaney Hey eBay
46:18
via email Is tungsten really worth the cost over lead uh tungsten is a big thing now right are there certain
46:24
scenarios where you would say it is more necessary well I don't use a whole lot of tungsten It's very expensive compared
46:32
to uh compared to lead And and the reason a lot of times I don't use a lot
46:37
of tungsten is uh because it's easy to lose it's as easy to lose as lead when you like a jig for instance when you're
46:44
when you're bottom fishing with a jig and those rocks we were looking at in the side finder like that you're almost
46:49
crazy to throw a tungsten jig down there knowing you're full well you're going to lose five or 10 jigs in a day Well five
46:55
or 10 jigs at depending on the the type of jig you got that's a lot of money going down and and is is the tungsten
47:02
really beneficial there It's It's better for feeling the bottom better feeling a rock bottom but it's not worth it if
47:07
you're hanging up all the time right so So that's one thing I'd say that with the jigs I'd mostly stick with unless
47:13
it's a clear bottom I'd stick with lead in that in case Um punching for largemouth bass
47:20
definitely tungsten You want the smallest heaviest weight you can find So even with worm weights all the when I'm
47:26
worming now any kind of a worm or a beaver bait or anything like that any plastics I throw tungsten all the time
47:32
with that I just uh I just feel I like the smaller size It penetrates the water better and you get a little bit better
47:38
of feel if it's hitting something uh hard Dropshotting No I wouldn't use it
47:44
dropshotting That's where it would I would be so hesitant because you lose so many ways That's exactly why That's
47:50
exactly why No matter what shape cylindrical versus round versus teardrop
47:56
versus whatever I Yeah I can't uh I can't see myself going I I Ang and I
48:01
both have used you know in certain situations we've used it like if we can find a nice if we're fishing the St Lawrence River and there's a nice run
48:09
where you you've run lead through there you know maybe a/ ounce lead 38/ ounce
48:14
lead and it's yeah they felt like we went through there two times to snag free Then we might drop a tungsten down
48:20
maybe because it's a little thinner it's a little smaller it'll flow with the current maybe a little different just to
48:25
try it a little different But if it's in a any kind of an area where there's Jeopardy you're going to catch lots of snags and all that stuff I Why do it you
48:31
know what I mean so and if it's tungsten I've I'm going to tie it on I'm not going to use a little clip in the but I'm going to make sure I tie at least if
48:38
it's going to break it's going to break fully off and then I'm going to get it make every effort I can So uh tungsten
48:43
definitely has a a benefit to it Uh like chatterbait they're making them out of tungsten now I don't know what kind of
48:49
benefit that's going to be It maybe cut the water a little different but I don't really know I don't know I honestly I
48:56
wonder if it's a marketing thing sometimes Uh no because I really do like the worm weights and the stuff like that
49:02
I really really have gotten used to to using that because it's such a nice compact slick little weight Nicely
49:08
colored You know they paint them green or black or any other color you want Usually pumpkin or black that you use Uh
49:14
you throw a little insert there if there's you know there's certain ones that don't have inserts in them It might cut your line So you have to think of that in in the sense too It might break
49:21
your line But so I do like a lot of that part of it But I think some of it is
49:26
just you know like we used to use flipping jigs Tungsten flipping jigs and I used to break them against the side of
49:31
the boat You know you set the hook and it flies back and sometimes hit the boat They bust in half The tungsten or would
49:36
bust off the hook Oh really i busted so many frigin tungsten jigs that I stopped throwing them now Maybe they're different now But that that was years
49:42
ago when they first came out but I broke so many of them and they hit the side of the boat and sound like a 22 going off and and all of a sudden the shit's
49:48
flying everywhere and all you got is a freaking hook and and everything else is gone So So I didn't I didn't like it for
49:53
that stuff either So I have a tungsten story in the hunting world I got roped in a little bit and I I just thought of
50:01
this when I mentioned the marketing thing A bunch of like hunters I was following I think they must have got a
50:06
sponsorship with a uh a turkey load that was filled with tungsten So I went and
50:13
bought some and they they were like $79 for a pack of six Holy Yeah it was nuts
50:20
So I bought them and I because I was all pumped and I was I was hearing all this like I was watching these videos about
50:26
the like the benefits and how you know because I I shoot one or two turkeys a year here So I'm like okay if that's
50:32
three years worth of shells Yeah You're not taking a lot of shots either right but then so what I did last year knowing
50:38
I had these normally I go out in March or early April and pattern my my my
50:44
shotgun So I take some shots and you make sure you're comfortable with everything and you know how many pellets
50:49
should be hitting a like the head of the turkey And the the year uh last year
50:55
when I bought these shells I decided not to pattern cuz I was like I can't afford to pattern this I'm not like that's
51:01
going to cost you 75 bucks just to pattern your gun Then you got to buy another box to use right yeah So I was like okay like I've never missed a bird
51:06
I'm not patterning I have these expensive shells It's going to I don't like where this is going Yeah So I go
51:12
out and I had like last year I had access to an awesome property and I was set up under a roost For those who know
51:19
turkey hunting that's where they go at night and fly down in the morning And I called it down and it he landed probably
51:25
like maybe 15 yards in front of me and just like sat there with his head up and
51:32
I shot and missed from that close 50 yards 15 one 15 like right in front of I
51:39
could have hit him with a rock and killed him probably and I missed him with a tungsten shot and it I'm not
51:44
blaming the the load like I'm sure it's fine I kind of got excited and it was my
51:50
first time shooting a a gun in a year but I I blame the price because normally
51:56
I go out and I go through a box before the year start And this time because
52:01
they were like you know 15 bucks a shell I was like I'm not taking a shot I'm good I've never missed before And then I
52:07
miss So ah that's a great story So I'm I'm anti- tungsten now You think because
52:13
I'm I'm I'm assuming that tungsten reacts different than lead
52:19
reacts different than steel Like all the different shots they all probably work a little different right bismouth isn't
52:24
there bismouth shot too So I'm wondering if that pattern was so tight on the
52:30
tungsten because they're so small and they're smaller and and hard Maybe it
52:36
went out just like a bullet like a slug and you had to be dead on that turkey head That's what I'm kind of wondering too like or or maybe they blasted out
52:43
Maybe they're so small they disperse like I don't know the reaction Uh-huh Yes That's weird So I don't I don't know
52:48
what happened but I know for sure I'm patterning every year I go hunting now I'm not doing that again And I'm not
52:53
using those shelves No No Not toxic That's great Hey they got somebody's got to make money right god that's freaking
53:00
amazing Okay so hopefully Travis the the uh the tungsten talk we didn't give I mean a whole lot but I do I definitely
53:07
do recommend it in certain scenarios So uh Wade Callahan via email um can you go
53:13
in depth about leader material i.e when straight braid braid okay floral versus
53:19
mono wire versus titanium etc I can quickly hit into that one for you It's
53:25
uh I use all three um so of all four because straight braid uh definitely can
53:31
be a benefit to you uh as well So straight braid would be obviously your lightest leader That's if you're if
53:38
you're in an area and you might get a where I might get a pike or something like that but it's probably not going to
53:44
happen I'd run my straight braid or you know or just no leader at all with floral Um but it's it definitely is
53:51
stronger than a floral etc etc So but the main leader materials um so floral
53:58
versus mono Well I don't know how to explain that
54:04
one because most freshwater anglers don't use mono as a leader anymore but a
54:10
lot of saltwater anglers do still use mono and they use big mono They use 100 lb 200 lb stuff like that 300 lb we've
54:17
seen and it's big and it's thick and it's ridiculous So but I would say for
54:23
freshwater situations floral versus mono I would use floral just because of it just it's a bit of a stiffer material
54:31
You don't need the stretch of mono in there as much as I don't believe you need as much because it's only going to
54:37
be a 16inch piece if you're if you're casting at most 16inch piece So um
54:42
floral ties well if you're going to tie knots There's certain special knots that you use for that Um otherwise you want
54:49
to crimp some swivels on there or something like that Swivels and snaps on there Um it's all about line size right
54:56
i was talking to Oliver Nye there after he did his uh podcast with I was asking
55:02
recommendations on because he's done musky stuff and he's done lots of largemouth and small mouth stuff in Canada I was saying "What do you use for
55:07
your floral leaders up in in Canada when you're worried about muskies but you're fishing for bass?" And he was giving me some good recommendations So but it was
55:14
always about fluo for that kind of stuff wire versus t titanium The biggest problem with wire it's great stuff but
55:21
it k it kinks It's the only bad part about wire leaders that if you can if you can deal with kinks or cut them off
55:27
and put a new one on then go with wire because titanium is is more expensive It's harder to get etc etc Wire we use
55:35
those ones in Peter Leaders up in uh Mackenzie River He it was what pound
55:40
test did he say that was they were like 50 Oh no They were No they were like they were for for Mako sharks Yeah I
55:46
think it was kind of shark leader So it was really heavy duty His swivels were real heavy duty locking swivels and uh
55:52
and a heavy duty uh or snaps and a heavy duty swivel as well So and they worked really great being that heavy They
55:58
kinkedked but they didn't kink too badly So um if you can use wire leaders I'd
56:04
say get quality Any leader you need is quality You have to do not skimp when you're buying leaders because if a
56:10
leader breaks you're going to be pissed right off If it's if a crimp comes out if a snap or a swivel pops or a split
56:16
ring pops off at whatever you're using you're going to be so mad at yourself So never skimp on that The time I use
56:22
titanium leaders and I use a lot of them but I use it in very specific situations I do it for largemouth bass again or
56:29
small mouth in pike areas or musky areas And I'm using a bait like uh a Yozeri
56:35
110 suspending jerkbait Now you're saying "Well spending bait you shouldn't be using those leaders It's going to
56:40
throw it off." I go as light as possible with that stuff So I'll go with a a 15lb test titanium leader and just a short
56:47
one an 8 10 in uh leader like that just to alleviate some of the breakoffs
56:53
because these pike they love that kind of stuff And that little be tiny 15lb titanium leader does not make your bait
56:59
go any bad any worse whatever It gives you a piece of mind to be able to throw it I do it on uh on spy baits too Stuff
57:05
like that in water I throw a spy bait with a nice light leader on it a titanium leader on it Um tie it if you
57:11
can because they're tieable If not then you can tie on a little uh snap or a little swivel if you want And then it
57:17
makes it easier all around from tying instead of tying your line to the leader you tie your line to the swivel which is
57:23
attached to the leader So um yeah I hope that helps I don't know Do you want to explain that what knot do you use to tie
57:28
it cuz I find if you use a knot that has to like tighten on itself it kinks the
57:34
line like right at the bait almost on titanium Yeah Well the thing is you don't tie any knots tight Your kn your
57:42
loops are all they look it looks if it was a mono or fluorocarbon you'd say
57:48
"What the hell is that knot it's not going to work." And it wouldn't work It would all come out It would fall apart But you you know you tighten them up as
57:55
best you can But when it feels like it's stopping maybe a little touch more But do never try and tie the titanium so
58:01
that the loops can collapse on themselves So it really tightens up So you're going to see that figure8 if you
58:07
buy that titanium um not too kinky that that wire leader I don't know if it's still available or not They have knots
58:13
on the back of that That the recommended knots on the back of that and those knots are perfect for this stuff And uh
58:18
yeah just keep that in mind that you do not overtighten them That's the biggest key to it So don't don't be worried It
58:25
will not come undone once you pull it tight and cut it off the you know cut your little leave a tag end It will not
58:30
come undone even though it looks like it's loose So if that's that's a great a great question Dean because that uh
58:36
that's what most people probably don't want anymore try it or when they tie it they tie it wrong So yeah So hopefully
58:42
is that uh do you think that one Yeah No that's good I'm going to go to the last question here Dino Yep From Nate
58:51
Haroldson Okay Nate Harelson says didn't say from YouTube or whatever So we'll
58:56
say Nate from the good old Napony How's that napony Nate since you guys have been sponsored
59:03
by Yoi for a few seasons now do you have any favorite lures in the lineup so
59:08
after a couple of years we've had I think two or three years now right i think Yeah we've had as long as I've been here Yeah So um I know with Angelo
59:17
he's not here but I guarantee you it's the twitch bait for sure Without a doubt if he was sitting here beside me he
59:23
wouldn't even it'd be hands down He'd already said it and he'd already explained it because it'd be that fast because he loves it that much and justifiably so It's a great bait So um I
59:31
know he like there's there's two twitch baits that that I know of in the lineup There's the 3dB twitch bait which is the freshwater and then there's one called I
59:38
think it's the inshore which is a saltwater version a beefed up beefed up version with the saltwater hooks And
59:43
we've used both Um the saltwater one we use on Big Pike up in the Mackenzie River We use up there and we used it on
59:50
stripers Uh and the marish mashi marmashi Um and then anything in the
59:55
north here where when we're throwing up for big small mouth or whatever he does like the 1 oz size the most That's the
1:00:02
the biggest of the freshwater version So if you if you're looking for them the the biggest freshwater one in the 3dB
1:00:10
3dB version Uh and then it's there's the same size in the inore And there's one bigger than that even It's a it's a
1:00:16
bait It's a big one But I know and colors I don't we get this I don't know if there's a floating model There used
1:00:22
to be a floating model I don't if they do that anymore but they are slow sinking So that bait is called the slow sinking uh twitch bait 3dB or the
1:00:29
inshore You can't go wrong Any of the colors It's all about the action of that bait And it works with a leader works
1:00:34
without a leader It's just a fantastic bait Um so I know Anga picked that one Dean you got one yeah mine for sure I
1:00:41
mean recency bias for sure Uh but the the bait we used on Lake Baba the one
1:00:46
knock right especially in that purple color I went to sale right after that and bought every single one they had So
1:00:54
I don't think it's available anymore but that's the one I like Sold out You see a sold out So the three So no it wasn't a
1:01:00
3DB It's a one knock Uh um Oh my god What's the It's the uh
1:01:06
Rattland Vive isn't it rattling Vive So it's a rattle bait And as yeah as Dean
1:01:11
says it's it is an actually a really a really good bait It's it's a little
1:01:16
different sounding than a regular rattle bait too right it's got one bead in it right i believe that gives it the one
1:01:22
knock So a normal back the first ones that came out were rattle traps Everybody probably remembers their
1:01:27
rattle traps People even call rattle baits rattle traps or or whatever It seems to be a nickname And if you hold
1:01:34
one of those tight and shake it it's all kinds of beads in there right there's all kinds of noise So this is taking a a
1:01:41
direction away from that in that there's there's some silent ones too There's some without beads in them but um what
1:01:46
Dean's talking about is a one knocker tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk has got more of a you know it's not I wouldn't say it's quiet though No it's
1:01:52
definitely still loud with that one bead It's not quiet That's for sure Uh I've seen when that one knock stuff doesn't
1:01:58
work though We had regular ones versus the one knocks in the fall fishing
1:02:04
largemouth last year And the more rattles you had the better it worked So
1:02:09
the regular rattling vibe worked better than the one knock in that situ in the same colors in that situ Wasn't it yeah
1:02:14
I don't know what it was That was that was a weird situation So was that little high pitch rattling turning them on more
1:02:21
or was it you know something else that or was the big knocking turning them off i don't know But it was definitely a
1:02:27
difference We could we noticed the difference Said "Wow what is that?" When you know that's what you do when you're out fishing when one guy is doing well
1:02:34
or when you're doing well and and you change things up and not do well And that's the whole thing about angling My
1:02:39
for me I got a few of them but I'll I'll I'll uh knock it down to uh in the world
1:02:45
of bass I love the 3dB 1.5 MR crankbait It is just a great
1:02:52
little allound crankbait It's small enough for for any species you know what
1:02:57
I mean but it's big enough yet you could you can crack some big fish And it dies to about six or eight feet deep Um tons
1:03:03
of colors The perch pattern is really good There's a couple of white patterns that I really like I like it especially
1:03:09
on um largemouth small mouth and walleye It's a great casting bait in the weeds So when you're in in weed beds 8 ft
1:03:17
deepish and you want to throw crankbait it is the perfect crankbait for that situation I don't know what it is about
1:03:23
it but they love it It dives perfect The action's perfect You can run it nice and slow because when you're casting for
1:03:28
walleye it's a really slow wobble to it So I say that the three uh 3dB 1.5 MR
1:03:35
and MR means medium runner by the way in case you're wondering about that And then the other one is um I wrote it down
1:03:41
because I keep screwing this up The 3DS 4in minnow It's I love that for pike for
1:03:47
early pike It's a smaller uh jerkbait smaller than the 110 and uh
1:03:54
and it's just got some kind of a different action to it Uh there's a holographic IU uh color that's really
1:04:00
good And that's another one that I just I absolutely love And then the the 3D or the walleye the uh walleye diver deep
1:04:07
diver I should have said that one too I caught my biggest walleye ever on Exactly It's crystal mental deep diver
1:04:13
Uh walleye It's a freaking awesome And the colors in those are awesome too There's like a bunch of them that I
1:04:19
swear by Silly colors Acid perch the midnight I like the purple with the blue dots Yeah And of course purple
1:04:27
wonderbread Purple Wonderbread is is my favorite color in that bait And we've done I have I've caught fish from north
1:04:32
to south with that bait Different size baits There's three different sizes of it Uh that same color any body of water
1:04:39
And it's a weird looking color but that's typical of walleye fishing nowadays The walleye baits that are made
1:04:44
by bait manufacturers nowadays they're just getting crazier and crazier all the time with color So and the price of those things are amazing for what they
1:04:51
are Yeah like compared to what like like compared to the quality they are compared to like what their competitors
1:04:56
are it's absolutely impressive When you hear of just look up
1:05:02
Japanese made u minnow baits or crankbaits or whatever and start looking
1:05:08
at the the varieties that are out there and then look at the price tag on these things It's like what a crankbait is
1:05:14
worth $23 You know what I mean something like that And then you look at the Yuri lineup and you say "Wow that's like 10
1:05:19
bucks less I can't believe it And you'd think oh they're not worth the money But I I honestly when Ang and I will tell
1:05:26
you and Dean will tell you now too And Steve will tell you these things are worth every dollar that they and and
1:05:32
it's very hard to get me to buy a $25 bait when I can buy one for $15 and and
1:05:37
it works just as well So it's uh they work They really do So anything else on
1:05:43
that Dino no I think that's good for me Did we uh what did we forget we do have one more question about rods and reels
1:05:49
if you want to get to that You want to do it yeah We're an hour and 10 in We can do one more Oh okay Okay Oh yeah The
1:05:55
Remy you got a good picture to accompany Remy Bushard via email Excuse me Remy I
1:06:01
love that name Remy Bushard Sounds like a a hockey player or something like that What are your
1:06:07
guyses remember that's a word now right remember that Your guys's I never thought it was a word I used to give people for saying that but I can't
1:06:14
do that go-to rod and reel combos Wow I guess he's I wonder if he's saying uh
1:06:20
literally as in what we have what we use or is there I thought it was a gear thing because we we get a lot of people
1:06:26
who ask us about that especially specific right yeah Cuz the carrot sticks we use on TV so often Yeah You
1:06:32
know that we we get a lot of questions about that Okay
1:06:37
Um I love it For those of you that are are only listening you're missing out on
1:06:42
a great old school picture Look at that Look at the camera Look at that freaking hairdo Look at everything about that
1:06:49
That rod and reel My god I like that shirt I wouldn't mind getting that shirt again though That's nice Pretty much a
1:06:54
rockstar on that thing Totally red red glasses line on there That's good So
1:07:00
that was taken a BC by the way I'm sure that was BC I think that was when we were vertical jigging for Halibet Quick
1:07:07
story on that We're vertical vertical jigging for Halibet and I hooked up and
1:07:13
I started to bring up something heavy I think and I've never caught a halibet before in my life I don't know if I've
1:07:18
ever told you this story Dean Um never caught a halibet It was myself Angelo and Phil Morlock was in the boat with us
1:07:25
and the cameraman Todd That's Todd there I'm bringing it up I fished my a fair
1:07:32
enough bit in my life even in my early 20s or whatever it was I put a lot of time on the water and uh and they said
1:07:38
"A halibet is going to feel like a piece of plywood with an eyebolt in the middle of it You're going to be pulling up just like that." I'm thinking "What the hell
1:07:44
is that?" Okay it was going to then it's going to move sideways a little bit and this and that even though it's going to come up steady So I started pulling this
1:07:51
thing up and it was just zero There's no life jacket by the way Look at that Oh yeah Hey pre- life jacket It was pre We
1:08:00
got smarter after that Thanks Bob That was Boba Right Thanks Boba He said Boba
1:08:05
noticed And uh so I'm pulling this thing up and I said boy this is not a fish I said Pete it's going to feel like a
1:08:11
piece of plywood with a freaking eyebolt in it That's not a fish either I says I know guys Okay I get that but it ain't a
1:08:18
fish So I was slugging my ass off getting this thing up And it was heavy It was heavy as hell And through the
1:08:24
whole fight I'm arguing with these guys and and because the camera's rolling right so it's like if if I fight it like
1:08:31
a fish and it's not a fish I'm the biggest complete idiot that ever I mean this is my start for fishing cannon I got to be the biggest idiot ever These
1:08:38
guys are coaxing me on Come on Come on And I get it right just enough where I can see it and I go there It's
1:08:46
a rock I caught a freaking rock in the bottom of the ocean I mean I don't Hey how'd you hook i don't know It was We
1:08:52
were using big heavy jigs right these big three three 4 ounce vertical jigs So it hits the bottom You drop it down hits
1:08:59
the bottom So I must have just hooked into this freaking rock And it wasn't it was about the
1:09:04
size half a bowling ball or maybe like a five pin bowling ball or a little bigger than a five pin bowling ball but heavy
1:09:10
as hell You know what I mean and I brought that in and an Morlock the look on their faces when they saw it First
1:09:17
they were stunned and then they laughed their asses at me all day long C me catching rocks Of course that was the
1:09:24
whole thing It was nothing about their mistake saying it was a fish It was a fish It was about me catching rocks for the whole day after the whole trip on
1:09:29
that So but what a but that was exact I think that was that trip right there So got a rock I've caught a few rocks in my
1:09:35
day So um rods and reels very quickly I'll go through uh some of my favorites
1:09:42
that I have and some here too I have my own I have some of my own stuff too at home obviously Um there's an extreme
1:09:49
example of a really high-end rod and reel of a Dia Ste rod and a Dia Ste reel
1:09:56
Uh bait casting reel and a bait casting rod It's a heavy action bait caster And
1:10:02
honest to God if you have a lot of money to pay for rods and reels because this outfit back in the day a long time ago
1:10:09
would be like a,000 bucks for both Like it's not it's not a lot nowadays It's still a lot but it's not you know the
1:10:14
peak of it all now But I'll tell you what that is one of the slickest rods and reels I have ever used Um it's it's
1:10:22
a specific It's a heavy 73 heavy So it's definitely you're throwing jigs with it
1:10:28
you're throwing I throw heavy uh beavers with it creatures with it stuff like that Um and craws but for for sitting
1:10:37
there and have smoothness and for having feel and the whole nine yards that thing is so sweet I mean and and when you buy
1:10:44
a rod that expensive whatever the guarantee is amazing on it because I've had a couple of mishaps with them It's
1:10:50
been replaced twice I'm on my third one and it hasn't cost me a scent since So that's something to to to keep in mind
1:10:55
is a good warranty Well you know about good warranties on rods and too right yeah that's what I go for now Especially
1:11:00
traveling like we do like you've been doing it forever but like putting stuff in the rod tubes and
1:11:07
putting them like in and out of aluminum boats all the time Like you just break so much stuff Yeah So I feel like the
1:11:13
the warranty is a big part of what I look for now For sure And you know what there's some good warranties out there You just got to look for them You got to
1:11:19
talk you know the more the higher end you go of course I think St Croy's got a great warranty right shimano's got a
1:11:24
good one I'm sure they all do I don't know Lumis I'm They would have to I mean with the with the high-end stuff like
1:11:30
that My favorite rod in my lineup right now it's very specific again rod and reel I I bought a couple years ago two
1:11:38
or three years ago I was pissed off with my chatterbait fishing I could not hook
1:11:43
a fish properly And I was throwing you know what I thought was at least something I could use to hook up these
1:11:49
fish and I couldn't do it So I bought an evergreen chatterbait rod um specific
1:11:55
It's called the company's called Evergreen And the day I bought that rod and I I went I got a 13 fishing reel on
1:12:02
it a concept reel on it And that is probably my favorite rod and reel combo
1:12:07
right now bait casting wise that I have in my boat And it is so it has changed my chatterbait fishing so much One rod
1:12:15
the reel not so much It's just a good reel that I wanted to put a good reel on that rod And uh that rod has changed my
1:12:21
fishing so much for chatterbait My confidence is through the roof with that So um that's another if this is
1:12:28
what he's looking for is that kind of stuff A carrot sticks I'll give you one on the carrot stick You see us using these things all the time That's because
1:12:34
it's whatever's left over in the inventory There's none not that we know of any more new ones out there available or whatever Um we've had good luck and
1:12:41
bad luck with carrot sticks Bad luck is breaking a lot of them You get a certain line uh line of them because they made
1:12:47
different models and all that stuff And we cracked a lot of them this you know throughout our time But the one that has
1:12:54
lasted the best for us is the 8 foot extra extra heavy So it's a bait
1:13:02
caster It's a XXH XF is what it is Extra extra heavy
1:13:08
extra fast 8 foot swimbait rod And it was designed for bass in the US the bass
1:13:15
guys in the US But and it sounds extreme and it is an extreme rod for bass I don't I rarely use it for bass but for
1:13:22
pike uh it is an incredible rod We brought that to the Mackenzie River That was one of the rods that I had We had four of
1:13:28
them out there and we still have them The beauty of that rod is it's still lasting I don't know how it's lasted because it's the stiffest rod we have of
1:13:34
them So you'd think that it would just snap as soon as something caught it or hit it or whatever like that They have
1:13:39
lasted for us forever You put a you put a bait casting reel with 50 to 65 lb braid on that rod and that thing is
1:13:47
money in the bank when you get throwing the right thing with it I'll throw I will throw an A- rig with it too as my
1:13:52
A-Rig rod So um but it's uh that's the one carrot stick that I swear when those
1:13:57
ones are gone I'm going to cry because I don't know why I would never think I'd throw an extra extra heavy but in this
1:14:03
case it's a beast of a stick So we abused them last year Those might be the only ones left I think we broke three or
1:14:09
four last season Did Did we Steve broke a few when we were uh in the on the McKenzie no but we had the those ones I
1:14:16
think I think we had You guys had the probably the smaller ones and rod went I know that Oh yeah They Yeah we cracked
1:14:23
them things like crazy So you got anything that you uh recommend to anybody or uh So I fish mostly the I I
1:14:30
fish St Croy forever and I've kind of experimented with a lot of their line but I do the Premier and then I pair
1:14:36
that with a Shimano Altegra They're both like middle of the range price-wise but uh because those are higherend brands
1:14:43
you get the good warranty Yeah I find Yeah I've went higher than that in St Croy's line in terms of like price point
1:14:51
but I've never found a massive difference So the Premier I think is like right where you know you still get
1:14:57
the quality but you're not paying just insane amounts of price just for the name Cuz St Croy you can get up there in the $600 range too right their musky
1:15:04
rods for sure and all that stuff But yeah they do they do make a great product for sure I will give you reminded me Shimano I was gonna say we
1:15:10
wanted if you're looking for a really good reel that's decent money a spinning reel is there Uh the Stratic is still a
1:15:16
great still a great reel Uh the Vanford's a little more money but the Stratic is a great reel to they just run
1:15:22
So the the reels nowadays are so faking smooth that it's ridiculous Like when you get into that quality range of a
1:15:28
couple hundred bucks or whatever in that you know in that area of they are so slick and they just you say "Wow you
1:15:36
know this reel 10 years ago would be $600 sort of thing like that." So they
1:15:41
still make those They still make the Stellas and stuff like that that are probably close to a grand But yeah uh and they they're worth it if you can
1:15:48
afford it but nobody not too many can afford that So the the one I used to love and I still have a couple of them
1:15:53
but I think my dad uses them now and he's like obsessed with them is the Quantums with the trigger on it You know
1:15:59
those spinning rods with the trigger on the I do remember something Somebody out there's got to know what I'm talking about I do remember that It was like so
1:16:06
so you could cast with one hand You could like flip it open with a trigger and cast and then Oh Oh yeah Yeah Yeah
1:16:12
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah I remember those Oh my god They're old right oh so old Yeah Yeah He still uses He loves them Yeah
1:16:19
Yeah Ah yeah All the companies had that for a while I I do remember we were that's when we were with Shimano and
1:16:24
that's we Yeah we had that little trigger Actually a pretty slick little idea but you don't need it but it is a
1:16:29
slick idea for the onehander right so anyways that was Remy Bousard via email
1:16:35
Thanks Remy for uh I'm starting to put a French accent on that already The slight French accent Do that You know what I
1:16:40
mean hopefully I bet you he would Remy you know he's got a French name So Um thanks to everybody for their
1:16:46
questions Uh thanks for everybody that stuck with us and listened through this stuff Hopefully we've uh answered a few
1:16:51
more of the questions I'm sure you got a bunch more Dean that uh are waiting in the queue Yeah Yeah As usual that that
1:16:58
that did a dent of like a week's worth but we had a lot That's a week Yeah we had a lot of people writing in We do I
1:17:04
do have a contest announcement though before we sign off Yeah So J&B last week when we at the sportsman show we kind of
1:17:10
kicked off um the Mercury Avatar the 7.5 So JMBB Cycle is giving that away in
1:17:17
partnership with us So we're really excited about that We actually had it in our booth at the show It's such a cool
1:17:24
such a cool motor So did is there a retail value on that do you know a retail value on that motor yeah I think
1:17:30
with our dollar right now I think it's over seven grand So there you go folks There's a there there's a prize for you
1:17:36
right there to get a unique little piece of machinery that from what I've seen and after talking to Rob and Cameron and
1:17:43
guys like that that that have used it and been around it It's a pretty solid uh you know piece of machinery right
1:17:50
there works really well It's light Remember how light it was you know as light as one person you can carry like a
1:17:56
a normal six to 99 A 99 to carry They're
1:18:02
heavy a four stroke when they got they're full of oil and all that Yeah they're a heavy motor to carry They're a great motor but they're heavy to carry
1:18:08
This is a great alternative you know what I mean for people that you know maybe a a small dude like me women want
1:18:13
to carry a motor you know what I mean and a small little 14 foot or something like that The thing I like is that it
1:18:19
actually opens some doors I know when I lived in BC this was more common in BC but um lakes that don't allow motors on
1:18:26
them like like gas motors This actually opens up a lot of doors Can you do that though i believe so Because I've often
1:18:32
wondered about that you know if well there's no motorized boats here Well it's electric motor Well I don't care It
1:18:38
says no motorized boat versus no gas boats on those lakes in BC like the
1:18:43
trout lakes I used to use a trolling motor on them Okay And I know like uh there's a little conservation center in
1:18:49
Orangeville I forget what it's called Island Island Lake or something like that It's uh they do bass tournaments on
1:18:55
it but there's no motors allowed so it's just the trolling motors Can Can they put a bass boat in there and have the
1:19:01
motor out of the water sort of thing yeah you can Really see because that's kind of what if there was a gas leak or
1:19:07
something like that you know what I mean there's always that But I I like that because I think that's what if they just
1:19:12
would allow you to do that that'd be great Give us access to a lot more But interesting But anyways for those this this motor will go anywhere because
1:19:19
obviously if it's a a motorized boat is allowed no matter what you can take that anywhere you want even if the gas is not
1:19:26
usable or whatever So uh and that's on fishcanada.com And there's a bonus code that I got for you there Bonus code
1:19:32
There it is right here Okay And the bonus code for that particular motor is that correct Dean for that giveaway yep
1:19:38
And this week's code will be spring Spring has sprung That is all capitals S
1:19:45
P R I N G Spring Come on now Type that
1:19:51
in and get free 10 entries towards that beautiful Mercury motor electric motor
1:19:56
Oh I want that motor I'm surprised we haven't had one uh yet on the back of a boat to try it out You know what I mean
1:20:03
we got to get Mark uh to get us one and showcase We haven't had a trip that just
1:20:08
the last one we could have brought it on with like Hasty maybe Yeah could have been good on Hasty Yeah exactly It's Or
1:20:13
no like you were on you went to to Brace You could have brought it to Brace last year We went a long ways in that trip Oh
1:20:21
yeah Oh my god We went we went from one end of the lake to the other and that was well what's the I don't know what
1:20:28
the battery or life would be like I guess if you had a spare battery with you just in case It' make you nervous though It'd make you a bit nervous I had
1:20:34
two batteries I'd do it but that was a long trip I think that was like 10 15 miles one way sort of thing like that So
1:20:41
going in those little Yeah So that might be if you had a spare battery it'd be perfect for that But but uh but anything
1:20:47
else like like Hasty Lake and all these smaller lakes like that why if you don't need a gas motor for these lakes and you
1:20:54
want to be nice and quiet and stealthy and light and you got to walk in maybe carry your boat in or something like that That's the perfect motor for it So
1:21:01
perfect All right everybody Uh that's it then Dean We get the everything's done Perfect Thanks everybody for sticking
