Do you want to learn a new lake river or reservoir? Do you want to catch more and bigger fish? Do you want to learn a new technique? Do you want to have a shore lunch but you don’t want to go through all the efforts of putting it together?

The way to do it is to hire a good, competent guide.

For all of those things that I just mentioned, the fastest route is to hire a guide. Now, I’ve been saying this for years and the Minnesota DNR just completed a study, and it bears out what I’ve been saying: On average, folks that do hire a guide catch two to eight times more fish than when they fish on their own. And while catching a limit—or at least killing a limit—isn’t the object of the game, when
folks hire a guide they are eight times more likely to catch their limit.

So whatever your reason to go out fishing is this year—to catch more fish, bigger fish, learn a technique, or to have a great shore lunch—hire a guide. You’ll be so glad that you did.
