Fish Talk – Set The Drag

Hiya folks,

I want to talk today about a mistake I see so many anglers make. And that is when they get a big fish on, they finally discover their drag isn’t set properly. So in the heat of battle, they’re adjusting their drag and, more often than not, they lose the fish.

The time to adjust your drag is before you go fishing, early in the morning or even the night before. I’ve got a dozen rods in the boat here with me right now. I rigged every one of those and I tested every drag last night when I was getting the boat ready.

You cannot set your drag properly when you’re fighting a big fish. Do not touch it once you’ve got that big fish on. If it’s set properly, you’re going to land the trophy of a lifetime.
