Fish Talk – Small Baits

Hiya folks,

Small baits—that’s what I want to talk about today. Y’know many, many times, we favour the “big bait, big fish” theory, but there are times when we’ve caught giant fish on small baits. Many times big Bass, big Trout—almost every species of fish—are targeting things like crayfish or small minnows or insects, and nothing replicates or duplicates those better than a small bait.

Now, you’ve got to remember, because they lack size, they lack profile, and they lack noise, you’ve got to put them in front of a big fish’s nose. But when you put it in front of their nose, it’s like presenting them with a snack like a candy bar or an ice cream cone rather than a T-bone steak.

So when conditions are tough, downsize to small baits and you’ll often catch the biggest fish of the year.
