Vertical jigging baits like spoons, blade baits or even ice fishing jigs will all work here. Trolling crankbaits will also work during the warmer months. To allow for a clean, live release, try to fish water less than thirty feet deep. Sheephead, along with the majority of other game fish, is susceptible to an inflated swim bladder if brought up too quickly from deep water.
