in canada
0:48
well hello everybody yes sir bob we're back hey buddy i'll just do this buddy stop
0:55
reading it's too late oh damn i was just getting my script all ready i was gonna say
1:00
hey anybody want to buy a canoe because auntie and i got a couple behind us here for sale so we're a new canoe company here now
1:07
uh we've uh we've decided to come at you with a couple of different backdrops we're still in pine post productions our uh our
1:14
really cool production facility and yes we both picked we both picked areas that have got
1:20
canoes i don't know about this whole building we picked you canoes in here
1:26
anyways i love your backdrop buddy that's right thank you this is actually everybody just did quickly this is our
1:32
our online editing suite where i'm sitting today so it's uh this is where joe does all his final
1:37
magic to make those fishing canada shows look so uh beautiful and wonderful i make ends and i look pretty so there you go
1:42
i was gonna say what did you do kick him out of his uh editing street but then i looked at the time it's 501. there's no way
1:49
to be there he was happy i came in four minutes too he says i'm out of here
1:55
exactly well welcome back everybody it has been uh a while in fact it's been two months
2:02
to the day if this was yesterday no way last spoke
2:07
so a lot has uh gone by obviously it was pre-christmas december 22nd
2:13
was the last time we were on here together and uh that was also uh the the day we did the uh the draw
2:19
for the boat motor trailer which we're going to talk about here in a minute um
2:24
right the redraw the redraw right right uh but i do want to uh just remind all
2:31
of you that we're all here tonight for a very special reason there are a couple of major announcements that will come come
2:39
your way uh in about 20 minutes time or so uh at the bottom of the hour uh we have two
2:46
very important folks who will be joining us we're honored to have both of them on uh lisa mccloud
2:52
who is the honorable minister of tourism actually it's heritage sports tourism
2:57
culture industries and uh the honorable john jacobski minister of natural resources and forestry they'll both be joining us at 5
3:04
30ish and uh both uh we'll be talking about some very special
3:09
stuff that's in the works for all of us as anglers and outdoors people so yeah people people have ideas et cetera et cetera
3:16
but a lot what we're going to be talking about but this is like the official announcement of it tonight so so there you go we're
3:22
going to um so without further ado let's get to the program first of all we'd like to congratulate
3:28
brenda kennedy yes i got it right this time brendan kennedy
3:36
kennedy kennedy from uh morriston ontario uh she is the
3:42
winner of the beautiful princecraft 14-foot yukon wt with the mercury four-stroke um 20
3:50
horsepower motor and custom trailer and a couple of quick things i want to say uh
3:55
about the army unit as well so right that's what's in there too so
4:02
she's got a sonar dude she's got she's better than us this year anyways needless to say it's a
4:08
wonderful package but a couple of things i just want to point out uh about it uh first of all she had 625
4:16
entries in the virtual drum so anybody who says you know it doesn't
4:21
matter how many ballots you put in you know it just takes one to win i agree it takes one to win but which
4:27
one was it of the 625 that she had in there regardless uh she worked hard for it you know good
4:34
point um and i just wanted to mention that uh the other thing too you know there was a little bit of
4:40
uh
4:52
it was a kaleidoscope of a domino effect of the wrong after wrong after wrong
4:57
after wrong after wrong is what it was it just was just we were in our bad luck zone so by the way look at uh i'd rather be fisher and
5:04
says hey is she looking for a net man by any chance
5:11
well i'd rather be fishing you know what's great about this thing um is that uh brenda and her husband
5:19
were in the market for a boat motor trailer they had already been scouring the internet to buy one and
5:26
they had made a commitment to themselves to actually get one this spring so how perfect
5:32
is that that's just wonderful the fishing gods blessed them that day for sure yeah
5:38
absolutely that's cool hey tony how you doing buddy uh nice to see you too man and of course
5:43
all of the regulars that are on here uh with us uh nice to see calvin up and around as well and all of you
5:49
out here oh there yeah okay nice yeah thanks we miss you guys as much as
5:55
uh you miss us by the way uh keep in mind that that when
6:00
when we did the last program on the 22nd of december we went into the christmas season and then shortly after that we
6:06
went into lockdown and all kinds of stuff and um you know as much as we would have
6:12
been it would have been great for all of us to get together say in the month of january maybe early february it just uh
6:17
didn't happen so here we are now finally um i want to remind you folks that we
6:24
still have the garment contest going on the site yeah baby tell us what that is mr bowman it's a
6:30
garmin panoptix live scope ice fishing bundle basically we've talked about before uh
6:36
is like the best of the best when you get on the ice and you just open the beautiful case for this
6:42
unit and everybody else around you
6:50
so you've heard us everybody's heard us live raving about live scope and that and now you can take it
6:56
out on the ice this kit of course is a portable kit that you can put in your boat once you uh once the ice leaves us you do a little
7:02
conversion for your transducer just got to get it mounted somewhere on a pole or something like that and you've got the best of 365 days of
7:08
fishing with garmin live scope and such a game changer we keep saying it but i'm telling you
7:14
every time out we're learning more and more and more about it and it's so awesome so it's great how would one win one of
7:20
those mr bowman well they got to go to fishingcanada.com and you'll get knocked in the face as soon
7:25
as you go there and that's the first thing you're going to see and you're going to enter and enter as many times as you can because if you as
7:31
you saw brenda 625 enters and she got herself some of the sellable owner trailer so you uh
7:37
keep persistent and give yourself better odds and better chances and you can win every 24 hours you're
7:42
eligible to drop a ballot in that uh in that drum so uh don't miss out on the opportunity this
7:48
i don't know when we'll have another one of these up again it'll be a while uh yeah that's march
7:55
31st right answer the uh the end of march we will be making the draw live
8:00
uh here why you gotta do that to me again i didn't know how about garden shears
8:07
and when your hand goes your finger goes close to my computer or any computer gonna shoot all right so here's some of the things
8:14
that we discussed after the tragedy that we had on december 15th
8:19
well that wasn't that was the start of it but the tragedy took place uh much later uh i think three or four
8:26
days after that but anyways uh how many of you by the way that that's my phone ringing
8:33
i turned it off but it's rigging anyways don't worry okay okey-dokey buddy yeah blame that on nick
8:40
so so the deal is this i love live okay i'm the only one
8:47
in this whole damn company that loves walking on a tightrope you know why because for 28 years i was doing live
8:56
radio programming every single saturday live and i love live because once once that
9:02
red light goes on it's like jumping out of a plane like everything is real there's there's
9:07
no makeups there's no oops oh yeah okay let's do it no and i love that and i love that aspect
9:14
of doing a live draw and so
9:19
everybody here wanted to do it off camera and then announce the winner and i said no no no and then for those of
9:25
you who have been with us from day one you know what happened uh there was some some technical errors
9:31
there was some human errors there was heirs galore
9:43
uh but after meetings several meetings uh afterwards you know
9:49
everybody suggested to me see that's why we don't do live that's why the nhl doesn't do their
9:56
lottery picks live that's why nobody does live well that's
10:02
fine nobody needs to do live but i want to do live are you better than nhl give me a little quick high five all
10:09
of you listening in that want to do live with me i like i like uh jeremy whalen's a
10:14
comment says hook sets like petey bowman baby that's all that's what it's about brother right there jeremy
10:20
just had him hard brother it doesn't matter if they get off as long as you get a good set in there it looks good feels good
10:26
so anyways so we're going to do it live we're going to do a live every every uh we're going to do the big one live on march 31st
10:32
and then we're gonna do all the rest of them live until further notice until i i screw up so badly that
10:39
i don't know the law won't let me do that don't say it buddy just okay good that moving on all righty then
10:50
the schweinster you're going to talk about the swag store a little bit the swag store yeah i don't know how
10:55
many you notice but uh i think in the last week or two maybe we quietly uh put up a a bit of
11:03
fish in canada paraphernalia um i i want to uh just mention this to you
11:09
that it is a third party sale meaning it's not us i want to be perfectly clear i don't
11:15
want anybody to say yeah you guys i thought we were in your store no it is not our store it is a third-party
11:21
uh company and we're experimenting just so that you know uh we do plan on
11:29
having our own store at some point uh inc in fact our entire website is
11:34
going to be changing very soon uh with with a store built right in it
11:40
et cetera et cetera but that's not happening for a little while yet so we thought we'd take this opportunity to see what works what
11:46
doesn't work the reason i'm telling you this is because i do think that there are some things with our current
11:52
fishing canada swag store that if it was mine only i would probably change
11:59
i want to know what you think rather than me put thoughts in your head uh let us know uh it's very important
12:06
that you communicate with us those of you who have gone there and are going there to let us know what what you
12:11
think david bridge made a great point says no hats in the store and that's one thing we were surprised at too david that's
12:16
not from us that is again the store's choice we thought of all things fishing canada should be selling hats of anything at
12:22
all you know what i mean so that again we're working on that one too so but you're right you're correct so nora wants to know if the fluffy rats
12:28
gonna be there someday one norms are hardcore on that isn't they
12:34
love it i hope to i hope to have it there norm we'll see we'll see uh anyway just want to let you know your
12:41
input is is highly valued and uh would be highly appreciated uh yeah i think the uh the shipping costs
12:47
are way too high but once again i i don't have control over it we don't know
12:53
that shipping is weird right you can go on amazon you can get you can get free shipping as two or three days without
12:58
even getting the amazon prime yet other items is going to cost you a fortune a quarter of the price of the half the price of the unit too it's
13:04
bizarre but that's just the way it is yeah all right what about icast you want
13:10
to talk quickly about that well we're talking about huge announcements there was a huge announcements just recently sent out
13:16
uh that i was personally shocked initially but i'll be very frank with you i i'm
13:21
you know i'm kind of settling into it now and i just want to quickly throw it out on the table see what you
13:28
think uh icast is the not arguably it is the largest single uh fishing trade
13:36
show not consumer show trade show in the world there are two other shows run by the
13:42
same people in other parts of the world but this one in particular in the us is the largest of its kind it's in its
13:49
64th year i believe wow yeah of course last year it was cancelled due to cohen
13:56
it takes place predominantly in orlando florida i say predominantly because every four
14:02
or five years they they kind of throw a curveball in there and and bring it down to vegas and then they bring it to orlando right
14:09
anyways um they just announced this year they're going live again
14:17
like hold on for business a full-blown show
14:22
july the 20th um to the 23rd they're going to be at the
14:28
orange county convention center for those of you who are not familiar with the orange county convention center
14:33
in orlando florida is is probably the biggest uh convention center certainly in the state of florida
14:39
maybe in the u.s it's massive and according to the orange county uh folks
14:48
they're saying we're good to go don't worry no worries no worries but they're
14:55
they just won an award because apparently in the last couple of months they've had 14
15:00
trade and consumer shows at the convention center in orange county um and they've actually
15:08
won an award for being the i don't know something about being the the
15:13
the cleanest and most coveted friendly shows uh in america yeah because there's no
15:19
other shows uh obviously we've been here if somebody's feeding us horseshit is the truth because we were
15:26
here and like there's a million something people that were dead from covet in the state of florida and now we're finding out
15:31
that it's not true so somebody i don't know what there's a disconnect here something going on because
15:36
according to the orange county folks um they're doing extremely well with
15:43
this whole covet thing wow and and they're so we're i'm confused
15:49
i don't know what to think in terms of great idea let's all go down to orlando and participate or not i i really don't
15:55
know i can tell you that i've been going to the show for some 38 years 40 years now
16:01
and there's no way in hell that i can see fit going to this thing
16:07
but yeah anyways yeah it is bizarre bizarre
16:13
by the way you know maybe maybe we're a little uh little on the farm i guess the flights
16:18
will go there but you got to come back and quarantine you got to get your hotel room for three days then you gotta go quarantine for the rest of that time so
16:24
i mean who knows by the time the show comes but anyway anyway by the way mike wants us to go
16:31
out west and do a show uh in the western branches i love it we love it out there it's fun calvin wants to know who uh
16:39
who's that muppet character on your office door behind you the muppet character
16:47
peter i'll let you answer that one is that the little picture i i'm assuming that i don't see anybody
16:54
else on that wall my kid i think is cool isn't it well hey calvin cole's only 16 right now but
17:01
i think he'd like to vote it's about time to go a navy boy right now i think he'd be gonna have a little round or two with
17:06
you if you wanted he's only 16 buddy so you might be able to take it i'm going to tell him
17:13
hot lake lodge says uh going to florida question mark not a chance in hell yeah i tend to
17:19
agree absolutely i don't understand what the hell's going on
17:25
but hey
17:31
some new bass regulations uh uh we uh david agrees with us of course i love it
17:38
um some new bass regulations were introduced this january we we did a piece on it
17:43
we featured it on fishingcanada.com and uh it's it's uh about a
17:51
exemption or change to the current bas regulations in zone uh 20 fish
17:57
management zone 20 here in ontario and um it's pretty drastic they are
18:05
opening up in fact it's been open since january 1 not many people are even aware of it or can take advantage of it
18:12
but opens to january 1 and will close on may the 10th and this is a total catch and release
18:20
fishery uh in uh fm uh 20 zone 20 which is basically the
18:26
north shore of lake ontario right and right at the st lawrence river on the interior
18:33
so uh one thing that they're now fielding since they put this up on their site is
18:40
tournament organizers writing in and saying hey wait a minute
18:47
um can we we're we're all about catch and release can we run tournaments in may
18:54
they're already on it the voice hasn't even left yet i mean if it's okay for people to go and
19:01
catch a few fish in april and may why can't we and uh there was a press
19:06
release that went out last week i believe february 7th from m r and it was pretty cut and dry
19:14
pete yeah so here's the deal this this new cats and release only
19:22
bass season smallmouth and largemouth bass season okay and they're kind of a little extensive here
19:27
and that is it's also when it's a catch and release it means there's a zero possession like that as well or retention you can't keep
19:34
any fish obviously you get and the whole thing when they put catch and release and there's zero possession
19:40
it means you have to you have to get rid of that fish as fast
19:47
as possible so as in a tournament if you caught that fish in the tournament okay we're gonna throw it
19:52
back but wait a second i gotta part on the scale i'm gonna weigh it okay marshall you see that weight there four pounds two ounces
19:58
yeah got it okay everybody's good good take the vet that's illegal you can't do that that is why
20:04
they're saying you can't do that tournament is to the point of even and this is something very important for
20:10
anybody that's going to participate into this because i've talked to the mnr today and i've looked into it and it's because
20:15
i'm going to be taking part in this too as well that means smart and that means of
20:21
course i am that but i'm learning why not why not it's open right that's what
20:27
you're saying so the other thing is let me talk and then you to rant afterwards let me give some
20:32
good solid information then you can rant all you want that means that even taking a picture
20:38
that taking the picture is not illegal holding the fish up for a picture is illegal okay there's a technicality
20:45
there so if you had a selfie camera you hear this like that and the game board and saw you boom you're busted believe it or not
20:52
you can't do that even if you're filming it on video if anyone filming on a video or something like that you just catch
20:57
the fish and throw it back of course you know you're not doing that you cannot delay the release of that fish
21:04
whatsoever okay so that's that's the law that that's going to catch a lot of
21:10
people off guard that's that's the one right there so i just want to say that and that's with the zero retentions you're at a zero
21:16
possession limit on cats and release season like of course that goes the same way in out of season as well when people accidentally catch a
21:23
fish you're not supposed to take pictures like that so so that's the clarity on the tournaments which brings it to the picture taken now
21:28
go ahead and rant all you want now well see now you now you're going to make me look like the bad guy like you
21:34
always do right because you're bedell no no you will make you look like a bad guy if it's possible you've already set this up for me these
21:41
bad guys it's fine i'll be the bad guy here's my take on it we have best bass fishery between
21:47
smallmouth and largemouth bass we have the best bass fishery on the planet
21:52
in this part of ontario and i'm talking about southern ontario right now we have an opportunity to catch as many
21:59
bass as we want we have an opportunity to catch to catch personal best bass every day that we go
22:04
out fishing for both small and large mouths that takes place from end of june to late as far as i'm
22:12
concerned late in the fall yep that's not good enough that's obviously that's not good enough
22:18
we want more let us have more let us go into that period of time when
22:24
these fish have a break and listen anybody who tells you that the pressure on bass has not
22:30
increased tenfold in the last five or six years is out of their mind and they're not of this planet so
22:37
those couple of months that's jack summers i am the bad guy thanks jack so those couple of months that they have
22:43
off now we need to go muck around with them yes i agree with you they're not on the beds in in april and
22:51
and early may that first week of may chances are they're not on the beds they may be in some places but for the
22:58
most part they're just setting out that's not what i'm talking about this is not about fishing betting fish which
23:03
i think we all agree is a no-no it should never happen absolutely all
23:09
i'm saying is can they not have a couple of months off is it that much is it just like too much
23:15
to ask for us we are getting a couple months off oh i think what they're giving them
23:22
so listen your buddies at the m and r did this it wasn't people it was a pmr
23:27
come on they just did they did this trust me trust me on this trust me on this okay
23:34
this didn't come thank you jim i i appreciate it buddy this didn't come without
23:39
pressure this wasn't and i don't want to poo this whole thing because this is an
23:44
evening of celebration and happiness because because we are getting some great news coming up in the fisheries here in a few
23:50
moments this didn't come without pressure though this didn't come without constant knocking on that door
23:58
that's all i want to say about it now the fact that it's open okay great doesn't mean we have to participate in it doesn't mean that we
24:05
all need to go line up which i know a lot of you are going through and i'm talking about you
24:11
mr nice guy mr bo what the other way you gotta point the other way you're gonna go like that
24:19
should you give those fish a break no no no no no no it's my god-given right i need to go
24:25
wreak havoc i need to display my dominance and superiority over those fish
24:32
i need to learn i need to learn about my trade i need to figure out anyway can we
24:39
can we do this can we do this now that i'm the bad guy now that i've admitted i'm openly the bad guy can we do a little pull
24:48
there it is so let us know what you think of the zone 20 changes by voting in our poll there's how you get to our poll and i i
24:56
don't know what how whether it's just yes or no uh no i'm assuming is going to be uh no i'm
25:03
against it and yes i'm all for it let us i'm probably the only guy on the
25:08
no no no no you have a lot of people again you justified in your opinion that's for sure you've got to remember
25:14
just because you want to you want to give these fish a break number one this is an experiment by the way this is zone 20 experiment right
25:20
you want to give these fish a break then why would they allow lake trout fishing to be open
25:25
until the end of september in certain zones and they spawn on october they're full of eggs but you can kill them full of
25:30
eggs september why would they have hike in zone 20 you can fish till march 31st
25:36
it closes till may so you know those pike are loaded with eggs on that ice out that's coming up very soon they're loaded with
25:42
eggs they're going to be spawning you can kill them you can fillet them you can do whatever you want there's no even now to catch and release how about those trout in in lake ontario
25:50
the great lakes open all year that are swimming up to go spawn and you're gonna you're
25:56
gonna hit them on the way up full of eggs it doesn't hurt the fish it's not hurt fishery fishery's not hurting is that
26:01
lake ontario fish you're hurting oh okay talk to me in a couple of seasons
26:07
okay hurting or not hurting you yeah talk to gord piser the doc who's got his fingers
26:12
advisor is against spawning fish fish on beds he's not talking
26:17
away ahead it's the total open season on bass that they have up in that district and
26:24
gord was an m r biologist absolutely you'd work in this field for many years as you know he
26:30
was 38 years with the ministry absolutely about the results so anyways let's move on the spawning
26:36
forces i agree that's that's bad for that i you don't fish on the bed so you know what fill up the fill up the ballots
26:43
or the pole let's see where we're at i and if i'm if i'm on my own on this fine i won't say
26:48
anything i think you're gonna be hired on the ballots i want to just say one thing i want to i wanted to say one name
26:54
skugog remember that because that was put up to a vote by
27:00
eminr and nobody wanted to listen to him they all say no we're good we're good we're good well guess what it's closed
27:07
they wanted to catch and kill their fish it's closed they voted to do right right we got to move around now you're
27:13
waving it up you're waving it up because they wanted to kill you you're saying that they want to kill their fish then they deserve it
27:18
absolutely we don't want to kill our fish we want to catch release and let them swim away and have a nice day beautiful all right
27:24
we've got a really important part of the show now and then enough for my and that was important okay don't
27:31
downplay that that was a very important part as well you know what i'm doing all right so uh
27:36
before we bring on our two very special uh guests um who will be with us sometime soon um
27:45
i want to just uh read you a quick little letter from one of our i don't even know what
27:52
to call folks anymore are you our fans are you are you no i'm serious i don't know look followers i
27:58
got whatever it is we have a great email that came in and it was so timely because we're about to
28:04
announce a very special program that deals with this uh tonight in fact so i just want to
28:10
read you a quick little letter uh it says please pass this on to angelo
28:16
and pete so he just sent it to fishing info at fishing canada.com
28:22
um don't see where else i can mail them so i send it to info at fisher county i want to thank you guys for your weekly
28:27
shows and contests it helps me with this covet virus and i won't repeat the word he used uh
28:34
not being able to go out etc uh i had a brain injury recently and
28:39
lost my house and now can't work but still i'm able to go fishing
28:44
to my favorite lake my favorite spot lake pete with my best buddy rick
28:54
rick's sister-in-law maureen owns the three outpost cabins on that lake
29:00
um she is a wonderful lady and gives us a great deal even though she's having a
29:06
really tough time as an operator and owner of the lodges she gives us a great deal so that we can
29:13
continue our fishing if not for onoping i don't know how i would function
29:19
with my disability when i get there it's so peaceful great scenery and of course fantastic
29:25
fishing now when i watch you guys every day and every week on your tv shows and your
29:32
youtube channel it makes me think of those great experiences in god's country
29:37
i'll be 63 in march and my buddy rick is 64. we sure hope that we can scrape up
29:43
enough money to be able to afford these trips right into our 80s
29:48
again i want to thank you guys so much i really don't think you understand just how much you help us uh i sure hope
29:56
uh i sure know now why you do this for a living and he goes on to give us the address if we're ever up in
30:02
that area to look him up and say hello and um we were moved by this letter
30:07
but we started an initiative about three months ago that
30:14
was focused on this exactly and that is operators in northern ontario because a lot of us
30:20
don't even think about them we think about and and we should about the restaurant owners and the local businesses that are
30:27
being crippled during this pandemic uh what we we just don't spend enough time
30:32
thinking about poor folks from up north absolutely you have nothing else this is
30:38
it they have no one exactly and also about people like this
30:44
gentleman who have got a disability and fishing and by the way disabilities don't have
30:50
to be just physical as we all know and fishing or getting outside participating in outdoor activities is
30:56
the only crutch available to them and so it's very fitting
31:02
that we make an announcement here tonight you know what it's not just disabilities too it's people uh affordability too people
31:09
expendable cash is very hard nowadays right it's not like it's the easiest of times either as well so just to throw
31:15
that in there that the you know it's you kind of hold on to your money until you have to or need to spend it you know i mean so
31:21
go ahead sorry no that's fine that's fine they're uh they're in the they're in the waiting room
31:27
so without further ado um i would like to uh bring on our two very special guests uh
31:34
to announce these these these just i i just tremendous programs uh that they have made available to us
31:41
uh first of all uh the honorable lisa macleod who uh represents the writing of nepean by
31:47
the way and currently serves as a minister of uh heritage sports tourism and culture industries
31:54
and uh a friend of the programs he's been on several times uh the honourable john jacquez feed minister of natural
31:59
resources and forestry uh from uh renfrew nipissing and pembroke uh how you doing guys
32:06
i'm fantastic oh there we are we're doing great wow how are you how are you guys doing good
32:16
we are so overjoyed that the two of you took the time to join us tonight i can't tell you how thrilled and
32:22
honored we are and uh and uh i don't know sometimes i get a little wimpy and speechless this is one
32:28
of them i just think this is great great stuff so john if you don't mind uh if i could
32:34
just address the one announcement first and then we'll get on to your ability i'm looking forward to hearing about it
32:41
going to be really too lisa right so we've been busy lisa we've been busy
32:48
for the last three months working with some of your um people out in the field
32:54
uh one in particular that you may be familiar with dave mclaughlin from dnl uh dnos northern ontario uh a
33:02
destination northern on ontario and he is a tireless uh ambassador for wild places
33:09
he is the best person i love him in fact if he's watching right now i actually call him d
33:14
diddy that's his name
33:20
i love it well david and i um and for those of you who might not be
33:25
familiar with dave mclaughlin i think it's important that you know who this guy is he is a lodge owner uh he is a third
33:31
generation lodge owner not only a lodge they own an airline they own like they're heavily
33:37
invested in northern ontario and um we've been trying to think of he's also
33:43
executive director for a destination northern ontario we've been trying to think of ways to come up to help
33:49
the the folks who run all those wonderful little businesses uh that we all love so much you know as
33:56
anglers and outdoors people and everything that we tried to do kind of came up blank yeah we could
34:02
promote market their businesses we could we could suggest to fellow anglers that they go visit them
34:08
and we do we do every week but every week we do that every week we do that on the show
34:14
but what what could we do to put money in their hands so we got together with david and his
34:19
group and we come up with a wonderful program that is called the great
34:25
ontario getaway giveaway and we've been able to put together uh
34:31
75 000 and growing by the way uh of money that
34:37
we're going to put right back into the hands of those operators what's going to happen is we're going to
34:43
have this huge and you know for those of you who have been with us for for a long time you know we've been hinting about doing this great giveaway
34:50
and and getting all of you folks that haven't maybe haven't experienced the fishing lodge in northern ontario an opportunity to
34:56
we have it finally here uh we're gonna have this wonderful contest whereby every month we're gonna give
35:03
away five for two so that's ten uh all expense paid trips into northern
35:11
ontario into trips of a lifetime absolute lifetime free of charge the
35:18
best part though is that the operator that that is going to host you gets paid for it in full so
35:25
so not only is is consumer going to enjoy this once in a lifetime trip but we're going to put
35:30
money into the operator's bank account at a time when believe me it's critical
35:37
it is absolutely critical that we help our own homegrown businesses and for people that
35:43
have never visited a fishing lodge just to let the fans that are watching that if you've never visited the fishing lodge i mean i was
35:49
one of those people was one of those people before we did the fishing we got very lucky television hosts but it is an experience
35:54
like no other really is such a we all love our fishing yeah we get that we all love the outdoors
36:00
to get this little trip into a gem of a place that's in the middle of nowhere catching fish after fishing you're gonna
36:07
stop i gotta stop catching fish i gotta check this back in the day just sit there play cards at night whatever
36:13
you have no idea how good a fishing lodge trip is it is that good so so
36:20
hopefully we will uh we will this is going to start sometime in march right now scheduled for the 15th but i have a
36:26
feeling it's going to be closer to the 31st of march that we're actually going to launch it uh it's open to every canadian over the
36:32
age of 18. uh there's no strings attached there's no it's totally free all you have to do
36:38
is go to fishingcanada.com uh click on the great ontario uh getaway
36:44
giveaway and and enter to your heart's content every 24 hours um you can put a ballot in now the way
36:50
it works is kind of interesting as opposed to the way we run our regular contest where it's just a ballad that
36:55
you drop in uh this was going to be a little different we're actually going to have you do a little bit of work to earn your
37:02
free trip so you need to go in there and put up uh an image a picture preferably in the outdoors
37:08
obviously a fishing pitcher would be great camping picture canoeing anything you do in the outdoors
37:14
and we need a compelling story very similar to the one i read you tonight from
37:20
one of our viewers and how fishing or the outdoors is getting you through this pandemic
37:27
that's what we want to hear from you and then people are going to be encouraged from all over the country to go in and vote for you based on your
37:34
story and your image and it's going to be great that's all you need to do is get people voting for you and it's going to be an
37:41
absolutely wonderful experience for all of us well lisa and i are experts at that
37:48
well not quite as an expert as you are there diac with your 75 percent victories
37:56
i heard you spent a bit of time up north this year lisa i was good good so i'll tell you all
38:02
about it was great time i went to an entire week with dee diddy oh it's so you know what i mean about you know
38:08
what it's so such a special part of the world and we take it for granted and i would love nothing more
38:14
than to have you know a lot of these folks that are going to win go for the very first time i mean it'll
38:21
be great if somebody wins a trip that they're already you know been to northern ontario but but that special first timer man it's
38:28
it's going to be just outstanding outstanding so uh we're really thrilled to be a part of
38:34
this thing and uh i think it's gonna be a big wonderful uh program that we are all gonna look back to and say
38:42
thank god we had something at that time to get us through this no kidding i see spartacus fisher there
38:49
are a comment and says ontario guides are hunting as well guys this this trip
38:55
will include guides as well if there's guides in there this is going to be an all-inclusive trip so if you're thinking
39:00
you know you might have to spend extra on guides it's all going to be set up for you when you win you win big
39:06
so there you go now the only thing is you're going to have to get yourself if you're if you're from bc for example you know
39:12
it's going to be a little more expensive for you because you need to get yourself from vancouver to toronto
39:17
once once we come to a central hub then it's all included so that's the only drawback but hey
39:24
these are trips of a lifetime i mean let's be honest about it uh
39:29
it's gonna be it's gonna be fantastic anyways i just wanted to throw that out there uh
39:34
lisa now you now you know the whole story i love you guys why have i not ever been on this program
39:40
before i you know why because every time we tell john hey we're just with the other ministers on he said ah they're busy
39:51
that yak he wants the whole platform for himself you know well i'm going to say one thing um lisa um i just want to throw this out
39:59
there too i've known john now for some time and uh he is one of the
40:05
most incredible ministers of natural resources and i've worked with all of them from
40:12
liberals to conservatives i got to tell you uh there there's only one to john
40:18
and and that's it there's nobody ever been even in the same league and i and i
40:23
don't wow that's awesome well you you'll find there's only one lmac too uh
40:28
as you get to know this one what you don't know he and i have been seat mates off and on
40:33
for the past 15 years and we're currently seat mates again and
40:39
when yak called me to come on here i said they're so lucky they we don't go we don't have mac and cheese we have yak
40:46
and mac really nice
40:52
that's the first thing we wanted to talk about and you know we'll fill everybody in as we go here over the next
40:57
10 days like this thing is going to ramp up real quick we just made it official and signed all the paperwork and
41:03
all the teas crossed and eyes dotted last wednesday so it's all brand new and well you know
41:09
what lisa is doing to promote tourism uh this year as well you know with them throughout the province so
41:14
this i think it dovetails perfectly with that oh it's gonna be great yeah absolutely
41:20
now john you have another interesting uh piece to add to this that will also help tourism
41:26
and fishing the stage is yours my friend well i want to uh thank lisa first
41:33
for joining me because her ministry is is so tied into my ministry when it comes
41:39
uh to northern ontario because i mean there's three industries in northern ontario there's forestry there's mining and
41:45
there's tourism and in fairness the pandemic the impact it had on the
41:51
tourism industry uh dwa dwarfed everything else uh we were able to you know declare forestry
41:58
as a as a essential uh business mining is essential but tourism because it's something that
42:04
people you have to have the opportunity and make the choices it was one that was just and of course we were unable to bring
42:11
anybody from outside of the borders uh that it was tremendously injured by
42:16
this so i want to thank uh lisa for the absolute champion that she's been in in try doing
42:22
everything she can to help not only our resource-based tourism industries like we have in the north
42:27
but tourism all over the province culture sport everything uh we can thank uh lisa for so many of
42:33
those things so thank you for uh for being on here today lisa and this is very much tourism related
42:41
oh yeah so ange from the day i became minister of natural resources and forestry
42:46
you were on me like uh you know well none of these things that we could say on the on the air but you were on me
42:53
and one of the things that you know i had no idea about and i'll be perfectly honest with you it
42:59
just came as a right out of the blue and you said john why can we not have multiple
43:08
lines to fish carp i said i don't know what what do you what do you what do you need
43:14
well there's a there's so so much potential in this sport uh but you can't do it with a single
43:20
line i said oh man we i'm sure we can take
43:26
care of that fear that shouldn't be a big deal well then we find out that it isn't really we have to get uh
43:31
approval from the federal government because it comes under fisheries and oceans and so we made all those uh how i don't know
43:39
how many times we talked about this and we made the uh the pitch to the federal government and then of course
43:44
kovid uh has everything uh held up and for all kinds of different reasons so
43:51
within the last uh few months we have got the approval
43:58
from the federal government what to proceed with the regulatory changes that we proposed
44:04
so we will now have multiple lines in fact we have three lines we went for
44:10
we got you one next band you can have three lines to fish carp in uh
44:15
you know the fish zones in ontario that are most appropriate including lake erie
44:20
the saint lawrence river i have to make sure i get them or maybe i better read this um if i have it here but you know them
44:28
better than i do but all of the areas that would be pertinent to carp
44:33
st lawrence river lake erie lake sinclair lake huron georgian bay and uh all the zones management zones 12
44:40
to 20 throughout the fish management zones 12 to 20.
44:45
and so this is this is big news and we know not to interrupt you john but our
44:51
social feed right now is blowing up that's what you thought you know before okay
44:59
because you talked to me about this international carp tournament which of
45:06
course i knew nothing about and then you start to talk to me about some of the numbers here and the people
45:11
and the participation and what it does to lisa's point for tourism dollars
45:17
all across the world where they're able to hold these things and the people that come from you know we're not going to have people
45:22
from bc we're going to have people coming from although just because we're going to people coming from all over the world
45:27
when you and i know i've uh you guys are going to obviously organize this uh but at some point in the future we'll
45:33
be able to have that tremendous draw that international carp fishing
45:39
tournament right here in ontario so uh and and of course lisa's predecessor
45:45
michael tobolo we had a little chat about that at the sporting goods show one year
45:51
and i know that of of course uh lisa would be would be is the champion she is she would you'd
45:56
be just right on top of that as well but this is going to be this is going to be something tremendous
46:01
that are that that would have this in the province so angela i want to thank you and your folks for pushing me and
46:08
uh we're just glad we got it done and i i know that uh minister mcleod is probably going to be
46:13
looking forward to that we're going to we might even get on a boat together right lisa we we will i
46:18
we're doing it this summer because i told you that i would be back up in northern ontario and go visit one of the outfitters and
46:24
do something like this so so we'll make sure we do that at the same time john you know what i'd like to do guys and
46:30
without putting you on the spot i know that's a problem with live events but uh i'd like to see if we can get
46:36
both of you either separately or together to join one of us one of the winners and
46:44
just make it a really special event you know so oh we'd be more than happy to just give us
46:49
the dates and we'll try and yeah this is awesome also to both of you
46:55
um i you won't be able to take the smile off my face for weeks to come
47:01
this thing is so big you have no idea how big this is i i took the liberty of um calling europe
47:07
last night um to ross honey who is he is the guru and he runs the biggest
47:14
international carp events on the planet and uh ra ross and i have been talking about this
47:20
moment for some time and i told him about what was going to happen here tonight he's probably on
47:25
here watching is he on the line maybe ross is uh tuning in he's on the sidebar he was in there earlier
47:30
was he in there okay so i won't be speaking out of school so ross and i talked last night
47:36
and he says immediately as soon as you know we've got from reprieve from this pandemic uh he
47:44
wants to organize a media tour from europe to come over here
47:49
and do a quick little media hype on the fact that we just opened the vault
47:55
to the best carp fishing on the planet and he wants to bring all the top uh
48:01
carp media people and do a big big spread on this so it's gonna it's gonna go quickly believe me it's gonna be mike
48:07
can you put that ross's comment up there just to quickly if you can i don't know if it's yeah he's there
48:13
so he's saying that's really good news i run the world cup classic and have done since 1998 uh we have over
48:20
40 countries participate today and a direct reach to over 1.7 million
48:25
uh that have increased the numbers of rugs they're going to find this fantastic
48:31
this is exciting guys uh how appropriate that i'm wearing my ontario shirt by the way
48:39
you know what it's not just it's not just for for tourism too though because our our car fraternity here in canada
48:45
especially in ontario we have the most these guys are the most respectful those and muskie fish are going to be like the
48:50
most respectful people towards their species of fish most people still and there's still this
48:56
conception out there that carp or garbage fish well we have to stop that john hopefully one day we can class them
49:01
as a sport fish and then start working on limits and size limits and stuff like that i mean that'll be the future of
49:06
this now i think now that we've gained some some traction here but they're the the hardest core yet they treat their fish
49:13
with ultimate respect they're and they're so skilled at their game it's it's just a great thing for just
49:20
hopefully we're going to build a lot more carp anglers through this multi-rod rule because because you know what's one
49:26
of the easiest things to do you're you're shore fishing you don't need the bolt you don't need the you know the motors you don't need all the heavy duty gear so it's
49:32
it's going to be good all around for everybody that's the great that's a great point uh pete you know we're talking about the
49:37
tourism aspect but right here in ontario we've got people that are just going to uh
49:43
be uh so thrilled uh that this this opportunity is going to exist now absolutely most of them are watching
49:50
tonight by the way and commenting so you know how happy they are you know it just dawned on me that you two have come on here tonight
49:56
and you have covered the whole map of ontario we've got great news for northern ontario and we
50:02
just got fantastic news for southern ontario because as you know carp are basically a southern ontario species
50:08
so we got it all covered
50:20
anyways i want to thank both of you guys for for doing this and coming on tonight and uh
50:26
another thing guys we want to just touch on uh that you and i have been talking about too so we've made some changes as well to
50:32
bass fishing yes here in ontario um so um you know we we have the normal bass
50:40
fishing uh seasons in uh you know june to uh december
50:46
uh which is you know uh catch and take you can uh you have a limit
50:51
but what bass fisherman fishers have been asking for for years is some other angling opportunities
50:58
so now we have a catch and release for both largemouth
51:05
and smallmouth bass in uh fishing zone 20 uh i
51:12
believe it is fishing zone 20 from january 1st to may 10th
51:18
which is going to give anglers just so many more tremendous opportunities that enjoy that
51:25
sport um that's right buddy john buddy i love it he and i are
51:32
divided on this john i you know i don't i don't hold any punches okay pete and i are divided on this pete is
51:38
is 100 behind this decision i am a little bit leery about it and i don't i don't mean to hide it i i
51:45
want to see what the net results are going to bring us that's what i'm more i'm more interested in this uh hey something we didn't
51:52
mention by the way sorry to interrupt dance i just want to get this out because we didn't mention it earlier in the show is that in doing this i think the whole
51:58
decision to this came from the extension of the closed season now on small mouth in zones so
52:05
now the small moment also used to be the last or the third saturday in june now goes to the fourth and it
52:11
goes to the first saturday in july which is huge at two weeks those fish in lake ontario especially in zone
52:17
20 in those cold water areas they could be on the beds well you know in that old season they were on the beds
52:24
opening day if people went out to the dock islands there was fish all over my beds well this is going to really help that too so that's
52:30
i think that's where they did that the mr probably looked at that and then went out of protecting the the the species and the spawning and
52:36
everything else and uh but also to give those extra opportunities now for angling because
52:42
hey there's there's nothing like bass fishing for for fun i mean it is uh like uh it is uh
52:48
you you got yourself uh uh a nice a nice fighter when you're when you're hooking onto those bass oh my god
52:55
and especially especially on the great lakes those those big burly uh a small mouth on saint lawrence
53:02
and lake out there oh my god it's just unreal um james n guys the regulations look like they've been
53:07
updated so can we fish with multiple lines right now is this the official announcement
53:12
john god i'm just a minister
53:21
i believe that the news releases go on the website and it'll tell you
53:27
because if i was to get out of here no yes and then and then i was wrong and they got
53:33
charged man oh man oh man would i be getting the email in all fairness in all fairness to john
53:40
uh we got uh communication about five minutes before we went live tonight
53:45
and that communication was very very uh simple to understand do not make any promises
53:52
tell people at 5 30 today we're going to put our official press
53:57
release on behalf of mnrf and it will explain everything so let's start
54:02
on our comments the news release is on our website right now okay after the cast they can check it
54:09
out sort of things so perfect perfect always follow the rules folks always vote
54:16
now you barely do that john but she did say barely she didn't say
54:22
not you know that's a good point that's a good point now can i ask you guys something that's you know totally
54:28
unrelated to what we're talking about because i i talk about this with my colleagues all the time you know if if
54:33
i had chosen to get into politics and and you know run for for whatever it
54:39
is man i sure wouldn't want to have the bad luck of having it happen during this
54:44
pandemic you guys must be under so much fire every single day because hey doesn't
54:51
matter what you do doesn't matter what you do there's always somebody who's going to look at it as
54:56
being wrong right but never so much so are you under the microscope as you are right now it's got to be a
55:04
hell it's the only way i can describe that that's why we love doing something like this and because it gives us a
55:09
little bit of a diversion you know and and uh el mac
55:15
will she she's you know she goes through the same thing and different things at the same time because she has a
55:21
different dynamic in her city of ottawa but uh you know to me it's uh you know one
55:28
of the toughest things when you when you're in politics quite frankly is that period that we call a campaign
55:35
because you're being you're being examined closely every minute of the day during that but
55:41
that's a very short period of time but this is the closest thing that i could liken it to with this covet is
55:46
that we're we're almost in campaign mode and we're not campaigning but we're under that same kind of
55:52
pressure continuously because every day is a major decision because every day
55:58
brings new issues new problems uh the the the the the
56:03
reality of yesterday has changed for today and and i gotta tell you premier ford my good
56:11
god the stamina and the ability for that man to stand up to
56:18
everything that been has been thrown his way yeah is absolutely beyond uh description and so
56:26
yeah yeah this but we signed up for this i mean lisa this is this is what we signed up for we
56:31
we know uh and we've been around a long time so we've experienced
56:36
you know different times but i i for for people who first got elected in 2018 uh it's it's got to be uh wow uh
56:44
this is wow it's got to be a real wow factor for them yeah anyway it to me it's like it's like
56:52
working towards something all of your life and i'm talking about premier ford now
56:57
you know all of your life you work towards this one goal that this position you want to hold
57:03
at some point because you really want to be able to make a difference and you want to be able to to deliver your messages and you
57:09
finally after god knows how many years you finally achieve
57:15
that level and all of a sudden you have to go to war and that's what to me this is like you
57:21
guys are at war every day you guys are at war with this damn pandemic and it just it blows my mind and anybody
57:29
who says anything nasty about politician and i don't care what color that flag is
57:34
behind you anybody who says anything nasty about politicians during this
57:40
period that we're in right now man they need to go out and get a break somewhere else because because this is this is the worst of all
57:47
times it's it's to me it's war you guys are on i'm on the battlegrounds every day people are but it's it's challenging for
57:54
people too you know because lives have been disrupted in ways that they never expected and
58:00
we we understand that and uh you know many times it's uh the the shots are there uh because
58:06
people are frustrated but we understand that and we we we it's what we what we agreed to
58:13
you know so we're there to serve the people and we're going to working together we're going to get through this and i
58:19
also want to tell folks you know that these are two politicians that you can reach out to
58:24
and i can attest to that um you have a problem they're wide open they're open for
58:30
business uh one way or the other they will get your message don't be afraid of of uh sending it up up the flagpole
58:37
because these are two folks that take their jobs very seriously and uh we we appreciate both you guys man just uh
58:44
keep up the great work um we're going to uh we're going to
58:49
keep you in the loop in terms of having that that that event where we get both of you
58:54
either together or separately on one of these trips that we'll be giving away to northern
58:59
ontario here in the weeks to come i believe there's like 72 trips individual
59:05
trips will be given away so it's going to be huge it is the biggest event of its kind we looked into it never before has there
59:12
been an event of this magnitude involving free trips anywhere in the world as this and it's
59:18
happening right here in our home province of ontario and uh we'd be happier to announce it well thanks
59:26
and i just want to say it's also the year of the staycation so when it's safe to do so the ontario travel incentive is going to
59:32
be there it's 150 million dollars to encourage ontarians to safely reconnect um in their own communities
59:38
and when you talk about northern ontario there's a real opportunity here for people across ontario to really
59:44
um you know instead of spending their money in the in the south or in europe um to really look at some of
59:50
these authentic experiences that we have in the north um with our indigenous communities
59:57
and right around the province and and again you're going to get a 20 um tax credit uh for for your travel and
1:00:04
so it's going to be a really important year and we're going to continue to invest in our regional tourism organizations
1:00:10
like destination northern ontario we gave them 500 thousand dollars this summer uh to execute on that uh hyper local
1:00:16
initiative and we're going to continue to support them as we move forward and david mclaughlin is going to be um key
1:00:24
to that he's going to be on a working group i'm going to be announcing our task force later this week and he's really
1:00:30
going to help us refine a great authentic experience in the north and then as you said in the south and many of the the the lakes and rivers
1:00:37
that you're talking about on this program are in tourism areas that are signature destinations
1:00:43
that are going to need people to come back and so you know we may not get those 4.7 million uh visitors from
1:00:49
outside of ontario back uh this year but we certainly can get ontarians
1:00:54
um you know circulating and reconnecting when it's safe to do so right here at home and and again i like
1:01:00
to say we need to reconnect them but you know we're also saying it's ontario is yours to rediscover now
1:01:06
and so we've got to do that lisa how do you um can you just quickly if you don't mind
1:01:11
give us a little more detail on that program where i know folks can get up the 1500 rebate on their taxes or something for
1:01:18
traveling in at home yeah so it'll be a 20 uh
1:01:24
tax credit on your taxes we're still working with the industry and the sectors um to to land on the final program we're
1:01:31
working with the ministry of finance to do that um and we want to be in a position hopefully um
1:01:37
this this fiscal year where people are able to travel so that we can we can open it up um
1:01:43
within the province so you'd have to be an ontario resident at ontario taxpayer um but we feel that um
1:01:49
if we're getting if we're investing 150 million then we're certainly going to be able to circulate
1:01:54
a lot more cash in the province um because people will be spending their thousand dollars
1:01:59
for you know a weekend away so more details will be announced imminently and we're also looking at additional tourism
1:02:05
supports across the province and so we do have a budget coming up in march and that's our hope but um you know a lot of
1:02:12
this is when i went up to northern ontario for the week with uh with david mclaughlin and we didn't even
1:02:19
scratch the surface i spent 11 weeks on the road um in ontario this past summer just
1:02:25
looking at our authentic experiences and really encouraging people to uh to you know look what's in your own
1:02:30
backyard you know you know we forget how beautiful this province is and and that we can safely do anything um
1:02:38
when the conditions are right that we could do elsewhere but we sometimes overlook it and so i think it's really important that we
1:02:44
we start looking around you know in your own city your own village your own community what can you
1:02:50
do there and then what can you do you know 15 minutes from your own backyard and and that's what we really want to do it's really a hyper local year of the
1:02:56
staycation um and and really rebuild that infrastructure uh in tourism well uh this is
1:03:04
a wonderful night for uh for all of us in the outdoors let me just tell you uh and as you can tell by the messages
1:03:10
here on the side uh everybody agrees and they're so thankful and appreciative of what both of you are bringing to the
1:03:16
table at a time when when you know it might be easy just to kind of duck under the hedge
1:03:22
and uh and hope that things fly overhead you guys are coming out and making great statements and uh uh
1:03:28
just can't thank you enough uh and i just figured out how to get to the comment section
1:03:36
you know i mean that technology i love you i love you see i love you
1:03:42
listen most ministers wouldn't say that well it's a running joke with uh yaki
1:03:49
just learned how to use teams about a week ago but i i've been a seat mate over the years like many many years and
1:03:54
and teaching him how to use his iphone and the blackberry before that um the twitter twitter
1:04:03
on twitter long as i can use the fishing rod and rifle
1:04:09
boy is that a challenge i just detect a bit of a challenge there [Music]
1:04:17
i'm wheeling him in i'm reeling him right in lisa i got him i know
1:04:24
uh once again guys uh thank you so much and uh appreciate it we'll keep you in
1:04:31
the in the loop i i and and i'd like to invite you back to the program here once we start this event going and once we get the carp
1:04:37
thing in place i'd like to invite you both back on the program either by yourselves together whatever it doesn't matter
1:04:43
and uh talk to the folks uh again about it so uh appreciate it guys yeah thank you
1:04:50
thank you thanks johnny for those of you thank you this was a blast thank you
1:04:58
there guys wow fantastic finally is out buddy is it fine
1:05:06
i got a couple of uh i want to make a point here i saw a couple of comments yeah now they're starting to ask about
1:05:13
now and i are not experts here we're just kind of the the middlemen working between the carp anglers and the government here
1:05:19
the one was uh if he has three rods can use one for another species i do not
1:05:24
think you can i think it has to be three rods dedicated to carp only now there you go okay that's perfect so
1:05:31
so for now at least make sure you're all in cart because you might there might be a gray area there you don't want to be caught in that one
1:05:38
is no matter how many rods you're using more than one rod as soon as you use more than one rod if you say and
1:05:44
that the carb anglers are going to know this i'm talking about the general public here that doesn't really know much about this if you have two rods sitting out there and they got
1:05:51
worms live worms down there because carp will eat worms there's no doubt about it but so will every other
1:05:57
fish out there eat worms so you are illegally fishing the two rods then you have to be cart dedicated so there's probably going to be corn
1:06:03
or boilies for the most part it's going to be a plant-based base and stuff like that non-organic
1:06:10
non-you could use plant-based yeah it cannot be for example you can't grind up worms or
1:06:16
crayfish or or a fish in general so it has to be plant-based
1:06:23
baits also if you're going to be using the three rods you must have them within a certain
1:06:30
proximity of each other and i believe it's 2 meters
1:06:36
all over the place they have to be on a stand together or if not on the stand they have to be
1:06:41
within that that proximity but all the rules and regulations are very very clearly written on their site and
1:06:48
they're simple to understand now here's the thing guys it's going to be up to us not to screw
1:06:54
this up see people are already thinking okay how can i cheat the system here how can i get
1:06:59
we've been waiting for years to have this opportunity let's not have m and r field people come
1:07:06
back to the minister and say hey this is a disaster that goes for the
1:07:12
best thing too what do you say it's exactly for the bass thing too both these things we announced tonight are going to be we're going to be the
1:07:18
stewards of that gordy piser wrote a thing one time listen to this anglers don't typically get the
1:07:24
fisheries they want they get the ones they deserve through their actions think about that those are great words those are great
1:07:31
words for us we have to we have to really adhere to everything and you know what when you see somebody else doing
1:07:36
something wrong if you ask them kindly and they don't do it tips mnr call crime stoppers
1:07:42
write them out they shouldn't be doing this you know i've done it before and i'll do it again i have no problem doing that put on your phone
1:07:47
and rat them out make sure they know that they're doing something illegal so please unless i'll be stewards of it and
1:07:52
and and do it smart and do it legally that's a good point you know how many times have we been in a position
1:07:58
where we see something taking place that's illegal and yet we just say oh look at that idiot and i would just i
1:08:05
used to do that buddy i don't anymore i've called i have it on my phone and i have called them and they're very appreciative if they can't get
1:08:12
there if there's something else you can do license plate numbers i did that one time i knew where these guys were fishing i couldn't go over
1:08:17
and do anything with them there's too many of them and i'll buys by myself i could have got beat up and killed maybe but i went out i knew where they
1:08:22
launched they lost the same place that i did put the license plate number and i called the mnr up and given that and they said they took care of the
1:08:28
business so i don't know what happened but at least i did my effort towards uh what they they were doing illegal
1:08:33
actions you know what i mean so yeah it's very easy you put in your phone and you push and let me tell you i think
1:08:39
initially when this thing first goes out and we start you know maybe getting into may and june
1:08:45
um they're going to be out checking so yeah sure anything that that is
1:08:51
nefarious in the least because we're going to be checking and then we're going to have people yeah but
1:08:57
i didn't know that you couldn't use them where am i no it's very plain very simple plant based
1:09:05
bait only if you just think about that plant-based plant-based that's it it's all you have
1:09:12
to know that means anything that is not a plant cannot be put at the end of your hook
1:09:17
to catch carb if you're going to be fishing with more than one rod if you're going to be fishing with one
1:09:22
rod then you don't have to worry about it the sky is the limit yeah right besides
1:09:28
yeah so um let's just not not fool around with that three rod
1:09:36
like i said earlier and i are still gonna work towards for your carp guys we're still gonna and girls we're gonna still
1:09:42
work towards getting them classed as a game fish we really we'd like to see that next uh is bowl fishing is it needed nowadays
1:09:50
for people to shoot with bow and arrows well i mean that's a big thing with the carp anglers you know what i mean like these people are
1:09:55
they're in their little world of everything is done perfect and they treat these creatures with the best perspective and
1:10:01
all of a sudden somebody's walking down with a satchel full of dead carpet with arrow holes through them too there's that's a whole other
1:10:06
subject but if we can get them classed as game fish first and then get limits and then get size limits so that
1:10:13
people can't keep you know we can work towards uh the better of this floor uh let's put up uh mike if
1:10:20
we could put up a few uh comments and or questions we'll take them now and uh
1:10:26
we'll be on our way we can go have a beer or something celebrate this is an epic evening are you kidding me like this is
1:10:31
so exciting tonight i'm not gonna be able to sleep absolutely i don't know what okay got
1:10:37
jeff whaler he said somebody guys
1:10:44
he turned people in he says he got a a guy illegally fishing bass last summer eminr came and got him it was beautiful
1:10:50
yeah yeah well done and it didn't cost anything jeff anything but a phone call he just
1:10:56
made you know calls the tip seminar and it's done beautiful that is awesome somebody was asking
1:11:02
about the editability of carp where was that i just saw it and although i have not personally
1:11:10
eaten yeah stephen wants to know um i have no person i wanna i wanna this
1:11:16
summer this year i i'm gonna try carp i have to try carp i know that they're being uh they've
1:11:23
been eaten uh here before i've talked to people who've eaten them so they're delicious
1:11:28
i want to try it before i say no i need to try it and it might be new
1:11:34
have you ever seen the meat is it is it a red color is it a white flaky yeah right
1:11:39
it's nice leaky yeah really right yeah apparently it lends itself well to being smoked it's very similar to sturgeon
1:11:46
it's a very oily kind of product and and barely smoked is
1:11:52
fantastic uh but there's several different ways our good my good friend ian mutcher who you know pete
1:11:58
uh he's told me about it before they love it i mean it's fantastic you realize you're
1:12:04
knocking yourself in the nose now right you just got the three rod ruling and now you're starting to talk about eating carbs these guys are going to always say
1:12:10
oh i loved you for a minute now i hate you again no but you got to try new things you
1:12:16
know tipster just received a 20-size line counter reel
1:12:22
uh what line to use for five pound ball
1:12:27
interesting a little can you give us a little more information tim can i'm talking about downrigger and
1:12:34
something else a bass on one of the three is that
1:12:39
illegal can you keep the bass here we go here we go you know trying to
1:12:44
already find those gray areas right james see james i'm gonna say no you cannot
1:12:49
because you're a fishy or carp and if you keep that bass you have more than one rod in the water you're gonna get busted
1:12:55
bingo how's that bingo simple uh i'm so excited this is the angler
1:13:01
files i'm so excited for the return of the fishing canada carp cup actually i had my carp
1:13:07
cup shirt on before the ontario but i figured i'd impress the ministers more with the ontario um hey are you kidding me we're going to
1:13:14
be first in line as soon as we think i don't know whether this may i have might say it's not going to
1:13:21
happen [Music] we've been working at it and working out and it's just we can't do it guys sorry
1:13:27
about that it's just there's just no way of doing it comfortably yeah shooting our
1:13:32
shows to be honest with you and that's a small crew yeah yeah it just
1:13:39
right now there's no logical way of doing it without putting people at risk and this is all
1:13:45
about risk management right so when we think we've got a good handle on the risk management
1:13:51
we'll be back with the carb cop so i would not count on it for this year but ah man we gotta hope we gotta hope
1:13:58
for next year yeah for sure oh tim sturgeon so he
1:14:04
wants to use a line counter reel with this down rigger so i'm assuming he's great lakes fishing he's talking
1:14:09
about maybe up north and all that on the great lakes a lot of the guys run like a 20 pound fluorocarbon 225 pound fluorocarbon believe it or not
1:14:16
sounds heavy but i know a lot of my guys my buddies now that run that heavy a fluorocarbon line on their down regular
1:14:21
setup because because of the abrasion because the salmon have teeth etc etc etc so
1:14:26
so that's timmy if that's what you're talking about if you're running on an inland lake i would definitely not go as far as the highest 20 pound i would say it'd go
1:14:32
down to like a 12 15 pound or whatever because your your bait is not really there's nothing
1:14:39
on your bait you know i mean you're clipping it on a downrigger line so that's my suggestion i see i'm being called a
1:14:46
brown-noser for tonight's activities oh i like that i know i know exactly what he's talking about you're giving me
1:14:52
earlier and then when the minister got it so now that they're not on the line here
1:14:57
let me let me come come clean uh with with this and i mean it
1:15:03
with total and and by the way john yakubuski and i have had some huge blow-ups that you're not privy to
1:15:10
nor will i repeat them nor will i tell you when they took place nor will i tell you what it was about but we have had some
1:15:17
major disagreements like monumental disagreements
1:15:22
but at the end of the day what i love about john is that he's just one of us you can sit down across the table and
1:15:29
you can debate it he'll listen to your point of view he might not agree but he doesn't rule anything out that's what i love about
1:15:35
john and and he makes you feel like you're part of the process which is really important
1:15:40
especially for us as outdoors people we sometimes feel that the politicians don't have our backs because
1:15:46
because what do they care about what we do but this guy does and this guy listens and when he can
1:15:53
he does so don't think i'm just a brown-noser trying to get my way
1:15:59
with him i really like john lisa i think she's a great person we haven't had as much interaction with
1:16:05
with her uh as we have with john but she seems very listen just to come on this show for a
1:16:11
politician to come on a show like this that is outdoors driven is is a tough tough tough
1:16:19
demand i mean even on a radio show that we we used to put out every week on the fan
1:16:25
590 it was always a chore to get a politician to come on and speak the reason being they don't like to have
1:16:32
uncontrolled situations like this this is totally uncontrolled it's live stuff
1:16:38
comes out that they can't take back and so they're told by their their staff not to
1:16:44
do those kind of things hell my staff tells me not to do those kind of things so i can imagine the poor
1:16:51
politicians on a daily basis thank you peter for bringing that up but but that's what i
1:16:57
love about them and for for i know that about john for lisa to come on and do this this was
1:17:03
this was fantastic so that's all i can tell you call that brown nosing i don't care yeah maybe maybe i did maybe i am i
1:17:11
don't know maybe he has some cool
1:17:16
the queen of northern ontario tourism is on with us according to the internet carp are good
1:17:23
to eat uh you have to prepare it properly if you don't like fishy flavor carp are a staple part of
1:17:29
dice all across the world thank you carol carol caputo by the way
1:17:34
uh for those of you who don't know her um is i would say one of the most important
1:17:41
folks in the north in northern ontario she's in sault ste marie
1:17:46
uh i first met carol when she was with the algoma region and uh what are you doing in here hi
1:17:54
everybody look at this guy or not we're gonna find my stupid community
1:18:00
oh my god only you know only fish in canada could do this kind of wackiness anyways
1:18:05
uh with algoma country which is uh for those of you who don't know algoma country you will well you you if
1:18:13
you follow us you know how highly we talk about it but next week i think next week or the week after we have an entire program on television
1:18:20
that is dedicated to algoma country so you'll you'll know it better by then but carol um is instrumental in
1:18:27
getting a lot of the programs in northern ontario and is a real real ambassador for that
1:18:33
part of the country and she's a big believer in what we're about to do with this uh ontario uh getaway giveaway
1:18:41
so thanks for joining us carol uh merv ellis when the new contest starts do i have to
1:18:47
join again or will i be accepted with my information now no so i'm glad you
1:18:53
brought that up uh it is a brand new platform so what it means is that you have to go
1:18:59
back in and re-enter make like you don't exist you're going to come in
1:19:06
brand new and keep in mind one of the criteria now is that you're gonna have to open an image of something
1:19:14
there you are mr bowman nice to have you
1:19:20
so you're gonna have to re-enter and uh put up an image um if i could just take a moment i know
1:19:27
peter uh told me not to get into this but i want to get into this just quickly we had a real challenge as you probably
1:19:34
know on the 15th of december uh when we were giving away the boat motor trailer because at that time we
1:19:40
had very limited information on the contestants meaning all we had
1:19:45
to connect with you was an email address nothing else
1:19:51
no phone number no address no nothing hence it that became a problem as most of you
1:19:57
know um the new contest all require you to give us two or maybe maybe it's
1:20:04
even three points of contact so you will perform
1:20:12
plus the first board sure thank you um but you will have to give us you know
1:20:17
phone number i think uh postal code uh address full name like we need to know who you are
1:20:23
because we don't want to happen again what happened in december
1:20:29
let me throw this out too if you're entering the contest keep looking to see if you won keep your
1:20:35
contact you stay in touch too you know what i mean it's your interest not ours i mean we're going to give this away to
1:20:40
somebody we're going to give this away no matter what but you are part of this game so if you want to win and you're entering it
1:20:46
stay and stay on top of it hey fishing canada did i win yeah you know what i mean so please um i just saw a great carp
1:20:54
uh carp question kevin uh godfrey we can put that up uh mike if you don't
1:20:59
mind uh kevin is saying i think it's important to educate
1:21:04
uh car on carp care now that we've got three rod hey listen we're gonna be catching more car all of us are gonna be
1:21:10
catching a lot more car we're gonna have more contact with carp so in as much as
1:21:16
the general fishing community right now doesn't regard carp as a species or a game fish
1:21:23
shouldn't say species as a game fish um it's it's important to car for carpenters to not lighten up on this
1:21:32
um it's things like you know the proper way to handle carb carb release using
1:21:38
carp mats unhooking mats uh a live release match is vital and proper nets
1:21:46
because these are totally different the rules that you know we've learned bass fishing walleye fishing muskie vision etc they're all out the door
1:21:53
carp is a totally different animal and so this is a great time to also learn what those uh proper handling procedures
1:22:00
are going to be because let me tell you with three rods out in the water just think about it guys you carpenters know this you've been surviving without three rods
1:22:07
up until now and doing extremely well can you imagine can you imagine using three rods it's
1:22:13
going to be nice that's a great point too and that and lyndon and i talked lan perk and i talked about this yesterday is that
1:22:19
you got to use common sense here too folks in the sense of if and sometimes it happens on one rod
1:22:25
you know the the fishing is mayhem you're not gonna be able to handle three rods so don't if the fishing's that good
1:22:32
don't have three rods out there just so you can hook up three fish because your lines are gonna tangle and then what answers just said and the people are saying the fish are
1:22:38
at jeopardy again if it's that good drop down to two if it's really really good drop down to one rod until the flurry stops then put
1:22:45
the two out and it slows down and put the three out again so use your common sense here like and that's great you know and mine so
1:22:52
that's a great suggestion and we're gonna have to all get used to this is all brand new yeah it's gonna be brand new man we're gonna
1:22:58
have to get used to this whole thing it's gonna be it's so exciting it's unbelievable uh somebody was just saying
1:23:04
uh is it open now just to repeat for those of you just getting in to this conversation uh we had the
1:23:10
minister of natural resources john yakubuski come on the program at 5 30 today and that was the same time that the m r
1:23:16
f made their press release official and put it up on their site that as a 5 30 today it will
1:23:23
be you need to read the rules and regulations but you will be able to fish carp
1:23:30
with free rods a lot of stipulations including the fact that it's plant-based
1:23:36
uh baits only and there there is no sidestepping that
1:23:42
if they deem you to be mixing anything other than plant-based product in your baits
1:23:48
there will be a heavy fine and and they'll stipulate all that on the site so go check it out we have it up on
1:23:54
fishingcanada.com i believe as of 5 30 as well uh we just we broke the news here live
1:23:59
so the rest of the world will know about this tomorrow uh you folks are you and whoever else
1:24:05
you send it out to and you're in fact that'd be cool if everybody just sent it out to their social circles tonight and get the scoop on the regular media
1:24:12
on uh on what's taking place because this is historic in the fishing community for sure absolutely
1:24:19
what else we got there i don't know to be honest uh watch out for the scam
1:24:25
with the fish in canada what is that oh no no he's right he's right there the the extra fishing can on our facebook
1:24:31
pages those amberson you know what i saw that as well the beasleys are going through that right now cannon the rough is going
1:24:36
through the same thing right now somebody's imitating their their site and trying to get email addresses or whatever they're
1:24:42
doing so it's a it's ongoing and it's unreal we will never reach out to you i can tell you this
1:24:50
with total certainty so this will eliminate any scams we will never reach out to you requesting you
1:24:59
to give us information especially requesting you for credit card information it will never happen if somebody reaches
1:25:06
you to do that under our name it is a scam the only time that you will have an
1:25:13
opportunity to connect with us and share information with us is when
1:25:18
you come to us such as the contest such as the subscriber list such as the soon
1:25:26
to be announced vip uh segment of fishing canada when you come to us
1:25:33
you initiate that contact then there will be information sharing if you get an email
1:25:39
from fishing canada asking you for something throw it in the garbage immediately
1:25:46
so there beautiful i see mikey uh i see one about
1:25:53
uh david h how are you gonna fish wondering how you're gonna fish three rods well david h you need to go on on the
1:26:00
internet and look for some professional carp fishing setups in that you're gonna see what these guys do uh guys and girls do they have either a
1:26:06
rod pod set up and they can set three rods right beside each other and they'll cast it out like two out to
1:26:12
an angle one straight out or they'll have what they call bank sticks they're just two sticks that you stick in the bank and then one holes in
1:26:17
front of the paradigm rod you put three of those out and when the fishing's slow and and you know you're going to get one
1:26:24
bite an hour that's that's a great way of getting the advantage of getting that one bite an hour sort of thing like this so it's
1:26:29
very manageable as long as there's no mayhem like i talked about earlier it's very manageable and normally you can keep the rods the
1:26:36
the lines out that are out there and they won't tangle as a rule you'll see your fish where it's going if it's if it's coming towards one of your other lines
1:26:42
you might have to lift one rod up and let them go underneath you know there's going to be some mayhem but yeah but it'll be fun mayhem right
1:26:49
so very manageable you want to go on the internet and watch and let's take a look at some of these professional carpenters
1:26:55
it's so cool it's unreal what they can do uh mark mccombs got a an interesting
1:27:00
comment and question i've never fished carp uh but have heard that carport invasive species
1:27:05
what are the regulations for keeping them in ontario well right now as it stands there is no
1:27:14
regulation for carp meaning that there are no limits there's no open or closed season there's
1:27:20
no um well as you know i mean you can go out and bow hunt carp legally and take as many as you
1:27:28
want so there is no regulation yet other than the fact that we can now fish with them with three
1:27:35
rods which is kind of bizarre i know it's kind of weird for fish up until now wasn't even
1:27:41
recognized as a game fish why couldn't we fish with 10 rods before there's no limit so
1:27:46
who cares about how many you take right that's kind of the thinking but this is step one now that we've
1:27:52
gotten the first step not even a word now that now that dfo and mnrf
1:27:59
have put carp in a category where they at least have a regulation now we start working
1:28:06
towards getting it regulated as a game fish because i think it needs to be right it used to be so here's the deal with
1:28:13
the rod the one rod rule it's still stands that allow that you're only allowed one raw rod in
1:28:19
the open water when you're battery when you're fishing anywhere except for the great lakes and you're in a boat you're allowed to if you're on
1:28:24
shore no matter what you're allowed one rod for any other species of fish that was including carp so that was a legal
1:28:29
point in fishing not in carp fishing in fishing in general now they've said okay if you're carp
1:28:34
fishing specific and you can prove that you are allowed multiple runs that's what the the that we gotta kind of read
1:28:40
into that calvin how you doing buddy uh when fishing with three rods what would you
1:28:46
do if all three got hit uh scream like a little girl and with all
1:28:52
the respect with all due respect to girls okay i would scream like a little girl poop
1:28:57
my pants [Laughter] we've had some moments we've had some
1:29:03
moments uh it's it's insane i bet you some carp anglers that have
1:29:09
that have gone abroad and fish would probably they probably experienced that it'd be neat to hear hear the stories that that happened to
1:29:15
me because it would happen i mean you'd have to tighten the hell out of a couple of drags and hope they didn't break and pull pull the rods off the pods and into the
1:29:22
lake and oh my god it could be uh it could be craziness for sure it would be craziness for sure i know
1:29:27
a couple of folks are talking about carp as an invasive species and just to set the record straight you're absolutely right invasive in the
1:29:34
sense that they were introduced to our environment uh but we're talking common carp
1:29:39
this happened over a hundred years ago so i don't know whether you could call a species that was introduced
1:29:45
inadvertently or even on purpose a hundred years ago as an invasive species and it's definitely not
1:29:51
now there are some carp uh asian carp being probably at the top of that heap snake head uh there are three or four
1:29:58
species or subspecies of carp not the common car that have just recently invaded our
1:30:04
waterways or are starting to invade our waters they are definitely invasive species and
1:30:10
we need to deal with them in a totally different manner and please do not mistake any of those
1:30:16
subspecies with the common carp or the mirrored carp which are the two fish that we deem to
1:30:24
be sport fish part of the world people should understand too like
1:30:29
smallmouth bass is a great example smallmouth bass is an african fish it originated in africa
1:30:36
south africa all over to north america dug along the railroad lines along the way north and they had milk
1:30:42
milk cans big jug milk jugs full and they dropped the idea was yemen are who did this but these these fish were introduced
1:30:49
from somewhere else and now they're in ontario everybody says that's an ontario fish right but it wasn't it was an african
1:30:55
fish that was introduced to ontario so it's the same idea but i mean the carp weren't introduced purposely
1:31:01
but uh but they got here so they're you know you could say if it wasn't under i don't
1:31:06
know it was under controlled conditions or not and you know when those train lines ran through was it uh the government that did that
1:31:12
or was it just guys that said you know what let's drop something it was individuals that were doing it
1:31:17
um and and it's funny because about 20 years ago there was a great study and i can't remember who
1:31:23
commissioned it um but it was a private study that tracked small mouth populations from southern
1:31:30
ontario all the way into the province of uh manitoba and the the whole study was based on
1:31:37
our uh our national railway system running through the province and
1:31:44
an old way of lakes that were known to have small mouth bass and i'll tell you there wasn't a single
1:31:50
body water at the time 20 years ago that was not definitely connected to the railway system yeah
1:31:56
there you go off the railway there's no smallmouth bass there you go and so you know back then the the
1:32:02
speculation was that there were uh a handful of um entrepreneurs big business people
1:32:08
maybe the the the railway uh executives that were doing this on the on the sny and
1:32:14
they were they were dumping them so they could go and enjoy them later on uh but that's how they got their foothold and now as
1:32:21
as we know i mean is there a lake that doesn't have them it's so hard to find a lake that doesn't
1:32:26
have they've done so well in the in the province it's unbelievable so
1:32:33
uh what else we got there michael
1:32:39
he's having a hard time picking them too [Laughter]
1:32:47
says ange you were not alone i don't know what michael was saying there but good i hate people i think he's talking a
1:32:53
good thing about you somehow i hope so i get enough bad things every time i screw up
1:32:59
oh by the way jack jack's left me there he wasn't
1:33:04
there he was in there earlier yeah anyway
1:33:09
oh carp's my favorite game fish to catch pound for pound one of the hardest fighting fish anybody who says that
1:33:16
they're not like what is a sport fish by the way peter what's what is a sport fish
1:33:21
well unfortunately it's just a quote classification of work right but what do you think
1:33:28
when i say to you sport fish what does that mean well in the literal terms i mean it's a
1:33:34
it's a sporting fish it's a great fish to catch fight fun have fun doing the whole nine
1:33:39
yards yeah the whole the whole uh idea of fishing you know you're you're angling for this this uh opponent
1:33:46
that you're trying to have fun with and have a sport with i guess you call it yeah that's my opinion so why is the car not
1:33:53
right guard pike is that a sport fish oh my god it should be for sure
1:33:59
love guard those things are awesome they're better than carpenters they jump
1:34:05
those two species if i could fish for nothing else other than carp and garfield i'm fine
1:34:11
i'm cool i've got no issues at all i'm fine with that they give me everything i possibly need as an angler
1:34:17
uh so to us you know we think of sport fish as something totally different sport fish is anything that you if you
1:34:24
go to the red river in manitoba and fish for those big 35 pound channel cats
1:34:30
oh
1:34:37
by the way there's uh uh james and has put up this i've been hearing a
1:34:43
little bit about this i don't know a whole lot about it but the canadian carp society launches march 20th perfect so there's
1:34:48
they look that up on the on the internet guys and girls because there's uh you know there's some big moves towards getting carp even more uh
1:34:55
popular important and get more involvement with it so check that out i i've heard rumor about
1:35:00
it i don't know much about us i can't say but it's a good thing so uh there's a great comment too uh
1:35:06
further to our railway uh discussion by ed duchette he says that uh he read that
1:35:13
railway bass were put there as a food source for rail repair crews which very well could be wow see perfect
1:35:21
you see there look at that yeah yeah so yeah thank you for that that's awesome
1:35:29
and we know they're delicious by the way i hate to say this on an open mic but
1:35:37
that's absolutely outstanding so i can understand that being the case you know i didn't hear that i didn't
1:35:42
hear that i hear nothing i see nothing
1:35:50
anyways i think we're done i know the boys uh behind the scenes michael and jordan and
1:35:56
nick they uh they need to get home it's been a long day today um
1:36:02
so i just want to uh thank all of you that joined us on such important notice absolutely we will from
1:36:10
here on in uh be on a regular contact with you on a regular basis we
1:36:15
will keep you updated on the uh great ontario getaway giveaway
1:36:20
that's gonna become that name is gonna be famous someday it's gonna be like peter
1:36:25
bowman gonna be like the name peter bowman come on now let's get realistic here bro okay
1:36:31
[Laughter] no we're gonna have a lot by the way just one more thing i noticed way back
1:36:38
somebody had made a suggestion and i didn't talk about it during the announcement because we had so much to talk about
1:36:45
somebody made a suggestion saying that hey why don't you at the end of this contest you know
1:36:51
maybe make a draw out of it and pick out a handful of people and take them
1:36:56
on one of your fishing canada boot camp adventures well guess what you stole our thunder
1:37:03
because that's exactly what's going to happen the the main leg of this contest is going to
1:37:10
be based on merit meaning that you're going to win these trips based on your ability
1:37:15
to get people to vote for you that's the only way you're going to win
1:37:21
you need to get people to vote for you how are you going to do that well it's entirely up to you first of all a compelling story is going
1:37:26
to work a great uh image is going to work but you need to work it every day yourself you need to
1:37:33
you get people to come in and vote for you so every month those winners are it's
1:37:38
going to be based on merit people who don't want to work for it that part of the contest
1:37:44
there is no luck involved right however at the end of that part of the
1:37:49
con and by the way there's going to be a separate um event
1:37:54
each month whereby one of the voters that's voting is going to
1:38:00
be so it's a draw a random draw they're also going to win a trip but at the end of all of this
1:38:06
keep in mind we've had all these winners and they're going to be out of the draw once you win once you cannot win another prize you're
1:38:12
going to be done you can keep entering the other contest on fishingcanada.com but not
1:38:18
the great ontario getaway giveaway however at the end of it all for all of
1:38:24
those who entered but did not win there's going to be a draw a grand draw
1:38:31
for five of you who are going to participate in the 2022 god willing no pandemic et cetera
1:38:40
uh fishing canada boot camp all expenses paid so there is going to be that's i'm only
1:38:47
telling you this now because you need to get yourself psyched up you might not have a chance at winning
1:38:52
the monthly prize because you don't want to put the work that it's going to take believe me it sounds all fun and games
1:38:58
but the winners are going to earn those trips they're going to have to work for those trips
1:39:05
however there is going to be an element of luck which will be at the very end when it's all said and done we'll have random draw for five
1:39:13
lucky people who will get the exclusive trip to the fishing canada boot camp for 22.
1:39:20
so that's going to be huge news and this will all be laid out to you once the contest kicks out kicks off you'll have all these details
1:39:27
um for you that's right boot camp don't think it's gonna be pretty folks we're gonna be kicking ass and chewing bubble gum and there ain't
1:39:33
gonna be much gum there okay no we're gonna go i think it's not like uh uh like they're winning but you
1:39:39
know what the only thing that's going to piss you off the most is when you get on the blowhorn at four in the morning five in
1:39:45
the morning to wake everybody up you still got a bit of a headphone full of beer so i love that that's the best part of my
1:39:51
job at boot camp is waking everybody up [Laughter] anyways uh we got to go brother hey
1:39:59
