0:44
Peter Bowman hi uh the rest of those uh guys are there wow there's other guys
0:50
yeah deva uh Nick come on now whoa what is is that actually Nick i think so he's
0:56
got a new haircut but I think it is him looking pretty uh pretty cool and of course uh our illustrious producer Mr
1:02
dean Taylor give me a hell yeah yeah uh wonderful show as per usual but
1:09
uh mostly because we are going to have a gentleman on the program who's going to shed some light on a product that we
1:15
have been talking about for some time now um and that is Fishfinder mounts
1:22
wow and how they're going to change your fishing life completely he's going to be
1:28
at it for like about a year ago a full season of using it full shooting season we were mounting it about this time last
1:34
year etc yeah yeah uh Wade Van Pelt will be joining us he is the president and
1:39
CEO of fishfindermounts.com and uh I I understand he may even have uh some
1:45
breaking news regarding breaking news i love breaking news it's fun you know I I
1:50
sometimes I just break news that isn't even real just for the sake of breaking yeah I've done that before my goodness
1:56
just just for the sake of breaking it do you remember any instances that you I don't remember you know that why
2:02
are you asking me well because you remember doing it so you might remember maybe part of it maybe a couple of
2:09
keywords i'll tell you what I am excited about and I can remember every single detail and that is fishingcanada.com
2:15
well you don't forget that one now do you and uh and shopfishingcanada.com
2:21
yes you heard that right on account of all of those little beauties right there on the screen are there living there
2:27
every single day good ones we had a huge order uh the other day it came over the weekend I it
2:34
might be the biggest order I've ever seen one order like a single one order yeah single order was massive and Nick
2:41
Nick pointed out to me and holy smokes I don't know like they're outfitting a baseball team or something how many like
2:46
how many items like oh I don't even know I know I just look at the dollars I stop looking at the indiv
2:52
idual items just look at the dollars well that's I mean if you said like 20 hoodies I'd say that's some pretty good
2:58
dollars anyway definitely a small uh uh team of some kind small team but they
3:04
weren't small in sizes so it couldn't be had to be goodiz people okay wow that's
3:09
all i just wanted to throw that out there it's all happening at fishingcanada.com new products are coming up uh as well we've got do say
3:16
some very exciting new summer items that we can
3:22
summer nicer than others summer some are good some are bad thank you Dean all right uh that are going to be coming up
3:29
very very very soon that you're going to want to cover your body with for this
3:35
summer fishing wow i feel I got a feeling you're talking UV protection and
3:41
stuff like that aren't you i'm not supposed to be like why are you putting me in a position to break my agreements
3:46
and you just say I'm not allowed to say anything how about VU maybe there's some
3:51
VU stuff there yeah yeah there you go uh anyways coming shortly keep an eye out on fishingcanada.com and or the store
3:59
shop.fishingcanada.com well said Adorette well said uh listener
4:07
feedback richard Cluke come on now via Facebook richard Cluke you're
4:14
listening i love that yeah for sure uh in response to Ang and Pete's episode of
4:19
at Nordic Point Lodge that was a great By the way somebody called me yesterday
4:26
what' they call you i'll beat him up buddy he said he says "You guys into reruns
4:32
already?" And I said "What are you talking about we just started the new season." He said 'N no I'm telling you I
4:40
watch every Saturday morning on Global Television Network and I record them all
4:46
and this Saturday was a rerun so I said "Oh you're crazy Tony." Oh Tony i said
4:54
"You're out of your mind." Anyways he told me what episode it was and and I quickly did the math in my head we're
5:00
already into a second cycle yes we are that's That blows my mind time sure
5:06
flies my friend that blows my mind anyways he's right but he said "I enjoyed it more the second time around."
5:12
I think a lot of times that happens well you and I watch these things yeah yeah
5:17
so who know i didn't know i was shocked but anyways uh Richard Cluke via
5:23
Facebook uh says "In response to Ang and Pete's episode of Nordic Point
5:29
Lodge," he says "watch the show good job fellas enjoy your boat demeanor unlike
5:35
many shows you guys don't bicker at all wow uh more electronics than most people
5:42
use but other than that so he doesn't like that either well like I you know he maybe doesn't like us he can't relate to
5:48
it cuz it's just I like to watch you hauling fins there you go whoa hauling
5:54
fins hauling fins i like that um our boat demeanor i like that we have fun out there you know what I mean yeah but
5:59
what does he mean we don't bicker uh at all like most other shows maybe because
6:04
your reaction when you found out you didn't have a net was pretty calm you weren't that concerned when that fish
6:10
all over you and we always just had a little fun with it and stuff like that yeah maybe so maybe that's I don't
6:16
know i said he likes you instead of you know could have been very derogatory but I just thought you were you know you make a nice couple even that fish so you
6:23
know maybe he's just he's feel out of curiosity is it something that we just
6:28
don't do or is it something that Vulva doesn't capture on on tape or doesn't put through the final edit or doesn't
6:35
put through the final edit i don't I don't I find it like from a when I'm on
6:40
the boat I'm amazed by how quickly you guys can turn on like the TV mode where it's like he's right it's pretty amazing
6:48
how like like quick that is when something's hooked like you guys aren't that smoking a cigar all of a sudden
6:53
raining while catching a fish like it's it's not that you guys are that much different but it's all of a sudden like
6:59
super polished and it's like a t it's in TV mode like that quick so basically
7:05
what you're saying that normally we're just a pair of blumbbering idiots slobbering all over the place then when
7:11
the when the camera goes on we we become normal is what you're saying yeah kind of all right i'd have to agree with that
7:17
he might have a point he might have a point can't fight it i will say that regardless of uh what we think what's
7:24
important is what you think and Richard Richard Cluke um thank you thanks
7:29
Richard if you think that our demeanor is something that uh you enjoy then uh
7:35
by all means i don't know whether I agree that we don't bicker though because we do yeah we'll have to know
7:41
from here on in we're going to watch all the reruns and and we're going to see how much bickering actually goes on out there also obviously he says more
7:48
electronics than most people use but other than that I like to watch you hauling fins fins so he doesn't
7:54
necessarily like all the electronics but that's boy he's not going to want to listen to this podcast later on when the
8:01
folks are going fisher bouts joined us holy yeah no kidding anyways thank you
8:06
very much uh for the kind words i'm assuming they're kind i'm assuming that's a I think that's a good one even
8:12
the electronic and Richard please remember that yeah we're trying to cater to all of our audiences all everybody in
8:19
our audience so and some love electronics some don't care about it some say it's too much some say it's not
8:24
enough give me more so we just try to cater to everybody conservation Corner brought to you by
8:30
the good folks at Invasive Species Center come on now come on now grass carp yes
8:36
the good old grass carp what do we got here Ant i'm sure you got something i got something here you know that grass
8:42
carper is the one that puts all of our sport fish at risk uh because of the
8:48
eating habits of this unit this weed eating unit do you know what bothers me about grass doing this ad and it is an
8:56
ad don't make any mistake about it an ad in the sense that we're trying to add the ad this is an actual um ad that
9:04
Invasive Species Center wants us to repeatedly uh talk to you folks about
9:09
what bothers me about this though it's like so many things
9:14
that you don't have to face on a day-to-day basis so sometimes you hear this stuff and say "Yeah well but you
9:21
know there's we don't have grass carp here yet there aren't enough here yet to cause a problem." And yeah okay move on
9:28
get on to the next thing but this is one that does not fit into that square circle if you will because
9:37
by the time we do get or if we get there by the time we get to the point where
9:42
they are in and fully invasive it's too late oh yeah to be able to do anything
9:50
about it yeah yeah uh hence why we every week here we deliver this message to you
9:56
and hope that it starts resonating at some point because uh invasive species center needs us out
10:04
in the field to be able to be their eyes and ears and one of that's meaning
10:09
everybody listeners viewers everybody anglers anglers anybody who spends time on the water boers even for that matter
10:17
uh we are going to be their eyes and ears on this subject cottagers washed up
10:23
on a shore yeah exactly right yep so and the best thing that we can do is make
10:28
sure that we are properly um informed on identifying this creature cuz I'll tell
10:34
you right now it it's not going to be easy identifying this creature just the
10:40
first one that you see you're going to have to look at it four or five times to make sure you know you're going to say versus "Yeah we know what a common card
10:45
looks like as soon as you see it." But yeah and that's only if you have the tools to identify this fish correct
10:52
either record it in your brain or record it on your phone or someplace right otherwise good luck trying to identify
11:00
that and why is that important you say true because by the time I see it it means it's too late well it's not too
11:05
late because what happens is if you identify it if you report it then uh the
11:12
mechanism can kick into place and people who are going to be commissioned to that area to investigate further we'll find
11:19
out if this is an isolated case whether the horse is out of the barn and in fact we've got you know groups of these fish
11:26
there they will take over from that point but if we don't help them to
11:31
pinpoint these locations of first sightings man we're all screwed down the
11:36
road because if this thing gets out there and does its deal which we know it's capable of doing and that is eating
11:42
40% of its body weight each and every day that it's in the swim
11:47
you don't have to be a mathematician to figure out if there's thousands of these things in our waterways our vegetation
11:54
the landscape of what we call our fishery will change completely and it'll change overnight it won't take years
12:01
it'll change overnight it'll be ugly and it will be ugly for us we're greedy
12:06
we're selfish we don't want that to happen because it's going to affect our fish that we like to go after the people
12:12
at the invasive species center remember too they're like they're like firefighters they want you get you
12:18
report it they're going to be on it this is one thing about them is they are instantly on it and working hard at any
12:23
information they get they hear a report they get out there and they look for these fish so so they do take their job
12:28
very seriously so and what do folks have to do Peter go to Asiancarp.ca you can
12:34
download all the imagery just read up everything about these the four different species let alone the grass
12:39
carp um and yeah and download into your phone get this like Ant said put it in your head put it in your phone have it
12:44
available at all times when you're around the water and near the water and then report it uh if you see it be
12:50
informed and uh having to do with information and being informed it's time for the news lawbreaking anglers to face
12:58
big fines in Manitoba during 2025 fishing season brought to you by J&B uh
13:05
your outdoor supertore JMBB Cycle and Marine Ontario's largest Princecraft
13:11
Mercury dealer uh they've been customer oriented since 1970 not a bad track
13:17
record let me tell you pretty good outboard motors or fully rigged uh Princecraft packages uh they are your
13:24
source for uh for buying the goods canadian made Frenchcraft oh Canadian
13:29
made sorry I'm sort of check them out uh they're they're called J&B but uh check them out at JB
13:38
Cycle.com and get the lowdown on all the wonderful packages that they do offer and all the other things that you can
13:44
get including by the way leasing boat packages unheard of as far as we know
13:49
they're the only ones in the country that are doing it uh so check them out uh
13:54
jbcycle.com in the news Peter in the news Angelo Manitoba they are cracking
14:00
down and I kind of like this no I don't kind of like this i like this a lot a lot okay the Manitoba government has
14:06
announced new penalties for anglers caught breaking the rules while fishing in 2025 so I'm going to give you the old
14:14
fines versus the new fines on this okay on what on these law breaking the law
14:21
into fisheries right basically fishing with barbed hooks well that's one of them there's many of them there's many
14:26
of them here this is This goes for all the laws all of them yes so fishing with barbed hooks used to be a $52 fine it is
14:34
now up to $220 fishing with barbed hooks 300% increase man in Manitoba barbless hooks
14:40
are mandatory for all fishing activities meaning hooks must have no barbs or barbs compressed to be in complete
14:47
contact with the shaft so you could buy barbed hooks take your pliers and squeeze them down or you buy barbless hooks we won't have that problem if we
14:53
fish in Manitoba this coming year well that's right we will not have that you know because you're bring lots of cash
14:59
so you can pay for those penalties i think you know for this reason in many
15:05
reasons actually they are one of the most progressive provinces in Canada with regards to their fishery right
15:11
they've been they've been barbers for a long time like a long time um I also believe their master angler awards were
15:17
something spectacular i don't I don't know whether they still do them or not but it really I think they might dean do you know if they do that or not yeah
15:23
they do i think they do it really really uh uh helps in identifying places where
15:30
where anglers might want to visit right uh obviously the people who are in the know fishermen who are in the know will
15:37
look for that master angler awards and and go back several years to see where
15:42
the majority of those awards come from and book a trip there absolutely it's
15:47
good uh it's good information uh uh over your limit no I'm I'm assuming I don't
15:53
know if there's any different species or this is generic from $102 to $390 so I'm not sure if the same fine
16:00
for walley is for small that's another 300% by the way yeah that's a dandy isn't it y bringing live bait into
16:07
Manitoba and possessing crayfish from $200 to 44 $433
16:15
that's another biggie that's not as as much percentage but yeah an unattended line so when you're ice fishing or bank
16:21
fishing well it doesn't matter there's a there's a certain distance that you have to have i was going to say what is an
16:26
unintended line what's the definition when you walk away from ice fishing you got your line sitting out there and you go to the bank and you're going to cut
16:32
some wood and then you're back to your 150 yards away from your hole and you come back out no you can't do that no you can't do that here you can't do that
16:38
on Ontario how far away can you go uh I think it varies on per province i think Ontario is what is it Dean is it a 50 or
16:44
100 yards or something like that i feel like it's 100 yards something like that yeah that's that's good distance yeah
16:49
yeah but that way you can set your you know you have your hut and then you set your lines out boom boom boom as long as
16:55
you get the legal number of them out there that's fine but if you go beyond that you're What's the idea behind that
17:00
gut hook fish like a fish eats a minnow and all of a sudden he's you know gut hooked i guess with barbless you could
17:06
get out easier but but no I think it's a good law you know you should be you should be around your lot you got to go
17:12
for a timber yeah you better pull that line up and and is there a a a period of time that you can be 300 yard
17:18
or 100 yards away no if you're walk that whatever that yardage is you take a step out of that if a gamewormer was around
17:24
and they measured it they would nail well you mentioned going for timber shed right you pull your line bring your line up you got to pull your line even if
17:30
you're within 100 no yeah you're good if you can see that if you're in line of sight well I mean pass down to your knees and I can't
17:38
guarantee that I'm going to be ready to go that rabbit and he's ready to wipe your arms but I guess the rabbit takes off you're going that way and That's a
17:44
great joke i haven't said that one in a long time so anyways another 10 lines so yeah
17:50
obviously Manitoba's cracking down on some laws there might be more than that even u but these are the main ones that they they announced to a dean found out
17:57
for us so um and I think it's good i think you have to I mean we have to there's a lot of poaching and lawb
18:05
breakaking going on around here people that nobody knows about a lot of it and it's getting worse and worse and worse
18:10
so we really need to to crack down i mean this is one start of it of of cracking down right by by increasing the
18:19
fines to this extent is a bit of an eye openener but you know you mentioned before you got to be able to enforce it
18:25
right so hopefully they will back this up with additional uh manpower to be
18:31
able to enforce I think they're doing a little better than we are I think in the man in the conservation officer manpower I think and they take it serious right
18:38
you know because you always hear these infractions and you're you know you're listening to this and they got a five
18:44
$1,000 fine for five deer or something like a jack lighting deer what the hell
18:50
there's never enough right so at least if they could start increasing these fines to a point where well you know what i I I better not do this because
18:56
it's going to cost me 10 grand or something like that you know that might be it has to be the way to go but hopefully it'll you know go right
19:02
through the whole system of hunting and fishing and and everybody gets the fines jacked up and not want to do it so much
19:07
hopefully but and these are just four items there's probably more dean do we have the whole story on fishingcanada.com is that the deal we do
19:14
it's all there excellent well check it out because I think uh it's important to know i think it's great yeah for sure um
19:21
we interrupt this program to bring you the much anticipated bonus code for the latest
19:26
fishing that was good you just surprised me with Did I surprise you i was hoping
19:32
you got me uh this week's bonus code is sonar s O N A R oh don't say that to
19:40
Calvin sonar he's listening right now and you'll understand why we use that as a bonus
19:46
code here coming up very shortly uh just type in that bonus code into the contest
19:52

20:05
current giveaways and for those of you who aren't entered yet well I like what are you waiting for
20:13
it's free when we did when we were doing the sportsman show those little talks those little seminars we're doing and I
20:18
did the one with Lauren from Radio World and and Calvin was in the on the audience and my natural tendency is to
20:24
say sonar i just I think you do too we both say it all the time every time I say sonar I'd look at Kelvin and he gave me like almost like the vampire cross up
20:30
there to hold my yard explain why well he I don't know i I don't know what the difference really with sonar actually is
20:38
he was in the Navy all of his life and he was the guy in charge of sonar right and apparently it's not the same as our
20:44
fish finding technology but we call it sonar i don't know why i guess it does the same idea to us in a simple form
20:49
right so and Calvin just said "Guys guys guys do not it's not sonar." He gave me
20:54
a dirty look every And I couldn't help myself i didn't do it on purpose either i just did it and I look over at Kelvin say "Shit I did it again." uh head on
21:01
over to fishcanada.com while you are listening to the rest of this podcast as a matter of fact because I know if
21:06
you're like me you'll forget by the time it's over it's you'll forget the fact that there's 10 free bonus codes
21:14
uh bonus uh entries uh waiting for you just all all you have to do is just
21:20
enter the bonus code of sonar and uh you will be up to date now back to the
21:26
episode come on now interesting f this is all straight yeah don't inspect that
21:33
too much never mind never mind okay
21:39
it's a mirror it's a guy cuz you see the conservation in the mirror and you see none of it i get it fan question of the
21:47
week fan question of the week that's why that's up there it's brought to you by the good people at
21:54
fishfindermounce.com fishfinderbounce.com i won't elaborate on that because coming up shortly is the
22:00
man in charge the man at the helm the main man of fishfindermounts.com uh but
22:08
um what do we need to do here fish fishindermounts.com so this is the fan question of the week it's submitted
22:13
by James Morland 38.99 via YouTube via
22:19
YouTube yes sir question i recall mentioning that FNC1
22:25
uh our custom princecraft is a custom layout of Princecraft could you explain
22:31
what you have done and the benefits i'm assuming is for ease of filming could you please also explain the benefits of
22:38
a full windshield a dual console single console and which is your favorite and
22:43
which would you choose for a personal vote if you weren't having to accommodate filming a television show
22:48
thanks that's a good question is this qualifying for anything this would
22:53
qualify if he hadn't just So he won a few weeks ago so he can't qualify again
22:59
but he he asked very nice questions so I wanted to put him up again i think it's a good question yeah so so you put him
23:05
up here knowing that you weren't going to give him the Well we have a policy that we c I think you can't win more
23:11
than once in a calendar year we We established that at Do our Do our uh
23:16
people know this do does our listening audience know this we said that at the start we've said that so may maybe James
23:23
Morland is just a good guy that just wants to give more hey you know what they used one of my questions maybe I'll just throw a freebie in here for I don't
23:29
need anything out of it i like the guys i like I want I'm really interested in this how many consoles we're having and
23:35
the dualies and the singles and the It just seems like an awful waste of time but all right let's go let's You don't
23:42
like that i think No normally we give 100 buckaroos away people used to ask them before we did that we saved 100
23:48
bucks bud think about it that way okay yeah we could get down yeah go down and have a beer or something somewhere a
23:53
couple spaghetti or something spaghetti that's what I want to know
23:59
okay james Morland wants to know here's the Well you mentioned a question right question correct so now uh we need to
24:06
deal with the answer even though we're not giving him anything for it we are going to give him the pleasure of getting an answer to some of this yeah
24:12
so FNC1 is in fact a custom uh Princecraft boat and we did it for
24:20
uh two purposes number one yes it was designed as the ultimate platform to
24:26
shoot the Fishing Canada show from so in order to have that we needed to have accessibility and walkways and whatnot
24:34
on the boat that the camera people could utilize it's very difficult in a deep hauled boat like this when you've got
24:42
big variances between the the floor and and the decks for a cameraman who's look
24:48
essentially looking through the lens to navigate through all the different
24:53
levels so the the the first design uh idea was on trying to eliminate some of
25:00
the big steps between levels in the boat so we accomplished that by making a um
25:08
the back deck is flat and level just like the front deck is so the camera operator doesn't have to worry about
25:14
stumbling although there was a flaw in the design the seats do kind of when you step on the wrong way we could have
25:20
fixed that we still can fix that right now i know but it makes it exciting for Boba when Boba we
25:26
hear it sort of sounds like that oh Bob hit the bad spot again yeah
25:32
although he doesn't do it very often no he's he's good he um secondly I'm a bit of a performance nut
25:39
i love uh taking whether it's a car or a boat in this case and pushing it to the
25:45
edge of its performance peak right getting it to to perform the way um it
25:52
should perform and that is always have it on the edge and so by making some of
25:57
the changes that we made in this boat we we kind of reconfigured the design so that we could move the fulcrum of the
26:04
boat and that the fulcrum is the center from a weight standpoint the center of that so that you've got equal weight
26:11
front and back of the center line to do that we had to obviously move a lot of
26:17
stuff around uh because it's not something that boat manufacturers for
26:22
the most part really think about unless they're into racing halls and then they
26:28
optimize the performance of the design by making sure that everything is balanced properly we did that with FNC1
26:36
so we moved the um the helm we moved it back 28 in I believe Pete oh god I can't
26:43
remember years ago yeah so by moving it back 28 inches we were able to to find
26:50
the perfect balance between front and back of the boat then we also did the
26:56
same thing from from a lateral standpoint so we moved it from north let's call it north to south nose to
27:02
tail moved the uh cockpit back for that balance and then we also moved it into
27:09
the middle to offset weight differences from side to side so when the boat is fully
27:15
operational running properly with everything at a at the you know weight
27:20
distribution within the boat is perfect that boat is just beautifully balanced and it's not just about the speed it's
27:26
performance in terms of economy when you're driving that thing you're first off you're saying this is aluminum
27:32
you don't realize you know a nice little one foot chop just like it runs as good good or better than any fiberglass boat
27:38
you ever ridden in you know what I mean so performs really well but he and he he missed out a couple things he said dual
27:43
console a full windshield dual console single console that's a that's a center console on FNC1 and he forgot to mention
27:49
a tillerboat no console you know what I mean so there's a bunch of different choices and it's that's very individual
27:55
on you know you know how many people Yes and no i got to have to argue about that one i think dual console for a fishing
28:04
boat i think it's almost a must if you fish
28:10
under adverse conditions right so it's the most popular there's no doubt about it you know what I mean and and and
28:18
um dual console as opposed to walkthrough windshield is also a must so
28:23
in the perfect scenario from what he's saying here the winner would be for my preference would be dual console mhm and
28:30
not a walkthrough windshield yeah me too that single console thing you got to think you're going to
28:36
have a passenger every now and then in your boat right and it's and it's not I don't know where uh James Morland's been
28:42
fishing but if he's fishing anywhere where we fish it's always windy nowadays always and the wind is you're not
28:48
worried about the wind hitting you you're worried about the waves hitting you because I don't care how big your boat is it's going to be some splashback
28:53
the wind is in the wrong direction and that that second console will definitely keep you drier it's not going to keep
28:58
you dry but it's going to keep you drier than if you have no console cuz if you have no console in front there man you
29:03
are in for a kicking of water that's for sure so so that's the that's the nice difference there is you got a
29:09
nice console the little glove box in front of you to put your phone in and your stuff in there and all that that second console is pretty handy so yeah I
29:16
I think it's a must personally but what do you think of the tiller boats the big tiller boats no i mean but that's a
29:21
whole different ballgame right that's wet that's one wet ass boat that's one wet ass boat and uh generally a guide
29:28
boat I would think generally and the interest the the thing about a guideboat
29:34
is that you want as much of the hall opened and accessible for your clients as you possibly can when you start
29:40
putting in windshields and consoles whether they're uh windshield attached to a console or just separate it it just
29:48
takes up room sucks up room you don't have it so in the case of a guide boat
29:54
I would think that that definitely uh the open concept would be the way to go anything beyond
30:00
that I I can't if you were if you were like stuck on largemouth and walleye I
30:07
think and and and musky like maybe I think a big tiller boat like that Prince makes a 19footer it's rated for a 90 be
30:15
a pretty damn nice boat if you had it set up right with all your electronics and all that so I don't know for for if you're fishing by yourself for the most
30:21
part you'll be a beast that would be a beast platform you know what I mean why do you need all that room other than the
30:27
fact that you want to be at the back of the boat when you're doing that kind of Exactly when you're driving when you're back trolling when you're speed trolling
30:33
and all that kind of stuff so trolling trolling is really nicely done with the tiller boat and yeah it's just again
30:39
goes down to a personal thing too right so uh hopefully we've answered your question uh James
30:46
um it is subjective there's no doubt about it the windshield boat would be the driest of all that would be for sure
30:52
the reason the guys run these big boats with the windshield full walk through they're the driest by far of all three
30:57
of them all right this next segment brought to you by Sale that's S A I L
31:03
your home for all good things outdoors fishing hunting camping it doesn't matter you do it outdoors sale is the
31:10

31:16
name very difficult name you'd be in trouble four letters that's about good i start out after that don't we about five
31:22
i start losing it but uh sale the outdoor store if you don't have one near
31:27
you uh it's too bad because it it really is an adventure just going in and immersing yourself in all that Yep
31:34
goodness yep uh called outdoors uh if you don't just go to sail.ca that's
31:40
sail.ca and uh check them out they've got sales sales on at sale all the time
31:46
they've got one on right now on some select items up to 60% off i think I got
31:52
that right pretty good deal you did get that right you did um you done good kid all right now our main segment our
31:59
special guest his name is Wade Vanpelt he is president and CEO of
32:06
fishfindermounts.com finally we get a chance to talk to the man welcome to the program Wade angelo how's Peter good to
32:13
see you guys on today you too you're looking good you're looking good with the big logo on there buddy have we not
32:21
had Have we not had fishermans.com on on a podcast yet nope wow no way we talk
32:26
about it we talk about it every week better get on boys yeah well overdue
32:32
it's a game changer i know i know so um first of all u I have to tell you
32:41
since we started working with you and mentioning this thing we've just been inundated with questions because people
32:46
sometimes think that uh you guys are into the actual electronics part of the
32:51
business um and we have to quickly tell them that no everything but and it's pretty much everything but because I
32:58
just went on your site again um to see what the updates look like just refresh
33:04
my memory and I got to tell you congratulations on cuz as you know we told you enough times the site was a
33:11
little difficult to work with at the beginning but man is it ever nice now congratulations it looks so Yeah thank
33:17
you it's it was a bit of a scary uh labor for us doing that because I I was
33:23
the one that created the uh initial websites for us and uh so this is sort of a migration away from Wade doing
33:29
everything in regard to the website to somebody else doing it so it's kind of
33:34
like you know letting go of your baby a bit right yeah yeah yeah but it looks great great job it's easy to navigate
33:41
you can you can you know all of the uh the little buttons take you directly to what you're looking for whereas before
33:47
it was a little bit confusing obviously but yeah and there's even a wizard on there Angelo there's a there's a wizard there
33:54
where you can just click on it and it just kind of guides you to where you you should go for your application so
34:00
fantastic yeah that helps a lot stuff like that helps a lot so first question uh that I have to ask you on a personal
34:06
level is is what prompted this what motivated you to start this company it
34:12
started in 2015 maybe you can kind of walk us through that yeah that's a heavy
34:18
question guys i hope you have all day we do we're good um it was like back in uh
34:25
2012 is when we've uh Alex my best best friend and uh business partner now too
34:34
um like I I'd gone through some some family issues and I'd also gone through
34:39
some work issues both and um as a result I just
34:45
decided that I needed to find a way to accelerate my income and start a business is the you know the answer to
34:52
that so um I just started looking around and thinking about whatever I could um
34:59
to come up with to start a business with and I always like I was in manufacturing for since I was 20 years old even
35:05
younger than that so it was going to be a product it wasn't going to be a service for me and uh I loved fly
35:11
fishing oh up in the interior and everything right so the this was always
35:16
in the back of my mind so what happened was we were out uh on a lake Rampart Lake years ago and um there was a guy
35:25
that came out with a fishing buddy you know like the the fish finder on the pole right you know like bottom line
35:31
used to make it and then Hummingbird bought them I think and then go go on from there and I looked at that and I
35:37
said "Wow that's awkward." Mhm i don't want to do that um so this was always in
35:42
the back of my mind and so when I was going through this time later on in the future in 20 2011 2012 in that area
35:50
um I came up with the idea of like this again like I should have a be able to
35:57
put any fish finder conveniently onto my float tube that's where we started and
36:02
so Alex and I started working on it and um we're very good at what we do and we
36:07
come up with things and ideas like we usually just nail it now is your background in machining that's what I
36:14
was going to ask you and Dallas's background is he's a red steel machinist um but myself I've always been in uh
36:21
well I started from the very ground up so electronics soldering and assembly
36:26
and all of that and then just work my way up into upper management and
36:31
ultimately I'm the highest management you can get in my company it comes at a cost doesn't it yeah it
36:38
does you know like anyone that wants to start a business it has got to be a labor of love and passion so the first
36:44
thing that people say when they see your product I I'm going to say probably 100%
36:50
of the folks who see the product before they use it just when they look at it is that man the machining on this it looks
36:59
so polished it looks like it's been around for a thousand years everything is so perfectly machined and that's a
37:06
trademark that you're going to probably take with you forever oh yeah we've had so many customers compliment us on that
37:12
and we have a lot of customers like you know we're all men here we're the we're Fisher men right um and uh so we have a
37:20
lot of men customers and there's women too but mostly men of course um that
37:27
just they are machinists or they're engineers of some kind and they say the same thing there is yeah fantastic great
37:34
job with the machining guys so yeah we love that kind of stuff whoa look at that oh my god look at that microphone
37:40
it's so cool i know it's up about us but but hey it goes and and not only does
37:45
the stuff look good for people listening that the stuff is works so well i mean it's perfect for the situation right so
37:52
uh anybody listening to this that has no idea what we're talking about well shame on you you haven't been watching and
37:57
listening to this program uh for sure for for a while um what uh Wade and the
38:03
rest of his company do they make um all of the wonderful gadgetry that you can
38:10
imagine to help deploy and use your electronics
38:15
most electronics companies well no I'll say all of them right now certainly the top group and certainly Garmin which is
38:22
at the top of the heap um they focus so much on the technology that they're developing every day uh in terms of
38:30
locating fish finding fish staying on top of fish they don't spend any time on
38:35
all of the accessories we'll call them on on how to actually uh make what they're
38:42
currently building more effective and that's what uh Wade and his group do
38:48
probably as well maybe better than anybody else on the planet right now and that is they make the poles and the
38:55
framework to hold the transducers to hold the screens every boat serious
39:02
angller's boat now has got multi-creens so it was very difficult trying to figure out how to mount the various
39:07
screens onto the deck of a boat these guys have made it simple and not just and people are thinking "Yeah wow okay
39:15
but you got to consider every type of boat from what Wade was talking about a tube to a canoe to a kayak to a bass
39:21
boat to a walleye boat to all these different you know boats pontoon boat you know they got they got a for
39:27
everything so you have to think that the Garmin is putting together a fish finding unit a transducer and a head unit okay there you go guys have at it
39:34
you can do it well you know what sometimes you got to change things around so Mhm that's right the the truth
39:40
is like the manufacturers like for whatever reason they they don't focus on mounting like we do we're the speculous
39:48
they just say "Okay put it on your transom of your boat like the conventional transducers and oh put this
39:54
on your uh your trolling motor when it comes to your forward facing sonar they're calling it a lot nowadays or um
40:01
your live sonar or live scope." I use the term live sonar because it's a generic you know term I've come up with
40:07
yeah rather than you know a company's term it's a generic term that covers it all right um but the problem with a
40:14
trolling motor as you guys know is you might be using spot lock and you've got your cables running down that pole that
40:21
that shaft of your trolling motor your minoder whatever it may be and then suddenly you put on spot lock the the
40:26
motor's going all over the place good luck with your cables well good luck and
40:32
good luck on staying on that fish right yeah that's it that's the problem and you've changed
40:40
all of that in one move you've kind of changed you revolutionized that whole concept uh of being able to spot lock
40:47
now I dare say that if spot lock or whatever term you want to use and that
40:53
is when you use your electric motor to stay on a particular location the motor has to work to kind of keep you there
40:59
right if you're not into that although I don't know how that would be the case
41:05
but but let's say for people who are who are more prone to troll as probably a
41:10
good example um or back trolling or back trolling even um this does not quite
41:15
apply but for anybody who uses that trolling motor or the electric motor on the bow of their boat for fishing
41:23
chances are you're you're locking onto a spot this this concept of using external
41:32
um positioning for your transducer your forward facing transducer it's I I would
41:38
say it's a must i think today it you can honestly say if you want to be effective
41:44
in um forward- facing sonar uh usage you have to have your transducer removed
41:51
from your trolling motor it's it's a nice I was thinking about also about the when you said about the back trolling
41:57
and the trolling but there's an advantage to the pole and that stuff too that we've we've noticed you know what I mean pointing it either forward where
42:03
you're going or better yet pointing it backwards and maybe off to the side if you're running planer boards and stuff like that so there's there you know and
42:10
you can't do that with a trolling motor you're running your your big motor in reverse unless you had it mounted on
42:15
your trolling motor and you use that kind of backwards to everything but it would be it'd be a difficult thing to do you know what I mean so it would be very
42:21
difficult to do and also if you're going forward searching for fish which we do I
42:27
would say at least half the time now when we're out in the water we're searching and if you're using your
42:32
trolling motor to do a slow search uh pattern same thing applies you know that
42:39
motor you're going to be moving that motor around not necessarily looking at fish that are on the side of that signal
42:46
with the pole we can do that and it's become like I say absolutely vital in
42:52
how we how we fish today completely changed and without poles you can't
42:58
Yeah it gives you autonomy you know like um while while your trolling motor is doing what it it should be doing uh
43:05
allowing you to travel where you need to go yeah exactly that's a good way of put
43:10
if you have it mounted like you know it's it's interesting because we have all types of fishermen pursuing
43:15
different species of fish bass boat guys they'll often want it at the bow right
43:21
at the boat uh maybe they're they've got a pal um up front that's fishing with
43:27
them and he's running the live scope while the other guys running the console you know that's steering wheel of the boat and then you have the pontoon guys
43:34
you know and um and all that kind of stuff so whenever I uh have customers call us and call me specifically I'm
43:42
always going to sell them what I would do for their application for their boat i don't sell them anything that I don't
43:48
think they need i sell them exactly what they do need so when you ask we're going to make it
43:54
happen yeah yeah yeah wade is there any u Have you guys ever studied or listened
44:01
to customers and is there any ultimate position of a polemounted transducer you
44:06
know what I mean because right at the front of the boat is it right there so you're standing beside your Garmin looking at your screen and doing all
44:12
that is it back a little cuz we had mounted sort of one up front last year and we had one mounted back a bit behind
44:18
and we tried to take advantage of both spots but is there is there anything along that gunnel that uh that tells
44:24
where the optimum position of a transducer would be our pole mount would be um so Peter I'm just trying to
44:30
understand a question a little bit better you have two transducers on your pole and it's on the gunnel edge like
44:36
either the starboard or the port of the boat is that what you're saying i'm saying even just one transducer we had two different mounts but let's say you
44:42
got one pole with one transducer where would be the best spot to have that or is there is there a best spot to have
44:48
that on the Yeah well like typically because like again uh sonar this kind of
44:53
sonar being on a pole that can rotate is 360° so you want to mount it so it's
44:59
clear of your keel or the very bottom of your boat right okay you're going to have a pole that's going to be And then
45:04
the other thing too is just not even that there's al also the ergonomics guys and you guys are aware of this too where
45:11
uh let's say you are a bass fisherman as an example um and you're standing fishing well you're going to want that
45:17
pole sticking up above the gunnel um Peter this is a little bit off your question i'll get there but you're going
45:22
to want to have that pole sticking up high enough so that you're not stooping down every time you want to roll you
45:28
know rotate the pole yeah um and then back to your question Peter specifically is Yeah you want to get it down uh
45:35
optimally um below the keel of the boat so that if when you rotate that transducer and you could decide oh I
45:41
want to look back the other way that being on the other side of my boat um you don't want anything in the
45:47
way of that sonar because the sonar's this kind of sonar is shooting at a high frequency and high frequency doesn't
45:53
pierce uh hard objects like the low frequencies do on sonar so you need to
45:59
kind of keep it clear of any kind of hard hard surfaces hard objects like the bottom of your boat so I'm not sure if
46:05
I'm getting you there exactly here but that's interesting i like that the point I'd like to make on that though Wade you
46:10
guys have even you figured that one out too because all of your units you can extend by adding an extra 18 in or 24 in
46:19
so if you do have a configuration uh your hull is configured in a manner where where um the front of it might be
46:26
the deepest part or at least sitting in the water the most you can extend you could extend that pole if you want your
46:32
unit right up close to the very nose of the boat you just extend it and now
46:37
you've got an extra 2 ft that you can drop it down below it's it's you listen there's nothing you haven't thought of
46:44
with this stuff thank you yeah we just try to make things so convenient for the
46:49
fishermen there that they don't have to worry about once it's set up they don't have to worry about um the the mounting
46:56
or the like how to operate things we just make it super convenient so you guys can there you guys can focus on
47:02
just fishing yeah uh one thing you do extremely well is listen to folks pete just mentioned uh do you listen to your
47:09
customers and you obviously do i and I know that firsthand because when we first started with you folks uh there
47:15
were some issues there were some things that we kind of had concerns about and I
47:20
got to hand it to you because in most cases uh those issues were looked after immediately and changed and you
47:27
re-engineered and even a couple times surprised us with your solutions we
47:33
hadn't even thought of that we just knew this is a problem now how do we fix it well by the time we kind of gave it some
47:40
thought you guys already had prototypes in yeah they were making 3D printing of stuff guys this we were talking about
47:46
exactly like done in a day and and that's a sign of a well-run company that's a sign of a
47:53
company that's going to have success in its field because if you do not listen to the audience in our case audience in
48:00
your case customers you're not going anywhere let's be perfectly honest you are not going anywhere so um hats off to
48:08
you for for being able to do that one of the items that uh you introduced not
48:13
that long ago and I noticed on your site you're out of stock i want to talk to you about that is the twist grip because
48:20
I think that took you to another level right yeah like and actually just a
48:26
little plug on that too um as a preface is that we are going to be bringing the
48:32
twist panel to another level by adding a motorized aspect to it with a Bluetooth
48:37
fob in the future here i'm hoping it'll be ready for next
48:43
spring so we we've just started the project now gentlemen so I I I hope I'm not too much in advance no no no no out
48:50
of the bag a little bit um but the twist handle is is nice
48:55
especially for older gentlemen too or got anybody that has any kind of like maybe muscular or skeletal issues um in
49:02
their you know movements you know like maybe some health things are go are going on there so the twist handle
49:08
allows you to just take your hand and just twist your wrist as you guys know just twist your wrist exactly whereas
49:14
the other handles of course you have to move your entire hand around with that handle mechanically speaking right
49:22
it's so much quicker easier whether you have physical ailments or not um it it
49:28
just is a great way to it for us it was a game changer and and
49:33
hats off to you because once again you listened and people There you go there you go i'll give I'll give everybody a
49:39
little tip though for that these guys did that I hadn't seen anybody else do so what what And are talking about right
49:46
now is basically on this forward facing transducer when you twist that handle you're turning that transducer all
49:51
around three you know almost 360° uh so the other way was talking about is you
49:56
have to reach around and and pull a pole whatever most poles are they come up from the from your pole mount like this
50:03
and then there's a single arm off here so that's okay when you're doing this and you're you know working on but when you have to shoot backwards or out to
50:08
the side you have you could be looking all the way you know over there trying to book backwards but what these guys have done they basically said "Okay just
50:15
add another pole in the front." So they got a tea bar in the top so when you turn it that way you still got your handle right here too so it makes it a
50:20
lot easier that way too i've never seen anybody else doing that and that's a nice solution to somebody that doesn't have the twist and and they just added
50:28
something else that I just found out about today um like you guys just keep
50:33
thinking you're so far ahead so you know when you're when you're pulling when you're going to move or when you're
50:39
trailering the boat and you're going to lift the the the pole up yep right you
50:44
un First of all that clamp is revolutionary but and then and then you have to pull the you have to push the
50:51
pole down and lock it up into position solution for that too they now have one of those little additional little uh
50:58
sticks that you could just push down on the stick and and lift the shaft up you
51:04
don't have to pull up and down on the shaft anymore oh nice that's cool that is Is that recent because I hadn't seen
51:09
it before uh yeah it is it is recent i um Yeah I can't really put it a number
51:17
on when we actually did that guys but it's more recent i mean there's there's
51:22
nothing that the only thing that we could want at this point and you just answered it and we've talked about it before in fact when we were saying that
51:29
we do a lot of searching now uh sitting down at the console uh electric trolling
51:35
motor deployed and we're just searching uh quickly to find fish we've said for a
51:42
while now boy wouldn't it be nice if we had a fob that we could actually turn that pole from the se seated position in
51:49
our boat and we could just turn oh you just answered that question for us that's what we want to do for you guys
51:54
and for all of our customers out there that really want that feature is uh provide that you know like you're at the
52:00
console but you have your now you have your sonar up at the bow but you're back
52:05
you know mid detent in the boat so uh but you want to be rotating your sonar
52:10
while you're moving uh right now you know when you're like a lot of our pontoon boat guys you know the deck pontoon boat guys I say install it in
52:17
your um console where you're driving so that way as you're moving around you can actually operate if you're just one guy
52:22
you know you guys are often on the boat together so you have each other to rely on but if you're just one guy out there you're going to want that manual mount
52:30
right close at hand exactly but yeah wouldn't it be nice Angelo wouldn't it be nice that's going to be glorious as
52:37
they say yeah that's that's the one thing that that's one of the advantages we've taken uh that we've used on a
52:44
trolling motor mount is when we're sitting back in the seats and you drop the trolling motor in we use the remote
52:50
to do that we we do that but if you could do it with your you know with your pole separate than that you don't have to have your trolling motor down to
52:56
worry about damaging it or anything like that and then you know it just you Yeah it makes a lot of sense yeah and let me
53:01
let me ask you gentlemen um a question back from here is that would you prefer
53:07
prefer um a fob application or like there's foot pedals out there too a lot
53:13
of the companies I noticed they go ahead fob fob because then you're not locked
53:18
into any particular position you have the fob hanging around your neck doesn't matter whether you're at the back of the
53:23
boat doing something wherever you are you just click left and right and boom you're done see I I'd be I'd be greedy
53:29
and say both because because when you're fishing and you're hands on you can't you got to do that fob you're casting
53:35
you're doing like this so you have you had if you had both and then you can do everything covered that way very greedy
53:40
Peter very greedy so you mentioned pontoon boats u as just
53:46
one of the usage for these things but I almost think
53:53
that people that fish out of canoes and or kayaks and or you know inflatables I
54:00
think that they could actually get even more benefit out of fish finder mounts
54:07
than we do on our big rig because you're limited your mobility is limited uh
54:12
there's all kinds of factors that come into play if I'm thinking if I'm in a a kayak or a canoe wouldn't it be nice to
54:19
be able to just turn that transducer around with my wrist rather than have to
54:24
juggle it all over the place you're bang on there you're bang on there the kayak guys like I mean and then also like if
54:31
you don't have incredible balance or great balance in a kayak you're really stuck in one spot the whole time you
54:38
know in that kind of a watercraft so you're right Angelo like um it's just way more practical to have a twist
54:44
handle application if you can so um yeah you were going to ask about the stock
54:50
factor there were you Angelo on the twist handle if I can change gears a bit go ahead um we you know we've been
54:57
perfecting it to be like completely honest with everybody and we've we've
55:02
got it to that point now but as we've been making them and we've been doing them in small batches just to make sure
55:09
that you know the quality control and what we're doing and how we're doing it is just bang on so um right now we're uh
55:16
we're in between batches here so we're going to be back in stock here in about 3 or so weeks i was going to say you
55:22
better hurry up right you're going to you're running into the busiest time of year for most season donut boys i saw
55:27
one I actually saw that twist handle on the weekend it was on in fisherman and I don't know if it was the in fisherman's
55:32
boat or it was John Bondie's boat it was Bondie's boat maybe or something but they were on must on St clair or Detroit
55:37
River and they had the exact the twist hand hey I know that unit but it was and
55:43
it worked good for them they were spotting fish i know yeah i have to ask you this question mostly for personal
55:50
reasons um from the time we first met to now you must have noticed an incredible
55:58
uh you know interest level in your products because quite honestly when we first saw them uh we thought what the
56:06
hell is this stuff what is this all about like there was very little known about it out there now it seems like
56:12
everybody's talking about it so you guys have got to be inundated with with consumer interest at this point you know
56:19
a big shout out to Fishing Canada there Angela you guys have been a big help for us um you know getting the word out
56:25
there and you know we've had a lot of customers that like like I just stumbled across you by googling you know I didn't
56:31
know you guys existed and and we've had that and that's sort of been you know like the the gorilla marketing tactics
56:38
that I've employed like just very small company when we started you know just doing everything ourselves you know just
56:44
finding ways to get it started and then customers have been telling people they're their friends their family hey
56:50
get fishfindermounts.com um so you know thanks again for all that you guys do
56:57
for us really appreciate you guys it's been a labor of love my friend trust me on that one and it's by Canada by
57:04
Canadian right now of all things right by Canadian canada boys
57:09
you're in the steel business in in a sense because all your products are metal
57:14
um any any worries about this whole tariff thing is it going to affect your
57:19
business potentially it hasn't affected us at all the tariffs have been really focused on large volume commodities okay
57:27
if you look through the tariff schedule which I've done personally multiple times unfortunately Trump keeps changing
57:32
his mind about everything that makes it difficult for people right um I understand what you know he might be
57:38
trying to do but uh he hasn't been doing it maybe in the most efficient way for the rest of us right um but uh no no
57:46
tariffs on fishfindermouse.com if our US customers which are really the main stay and primary
57:52
uh like group of customers for us if you take them geographically
57:57
um no no concerns about tariffs crossing the border there and everything good
58:03
perfect um the forward- facing sonar obviously has been in the news in the
58:09
fishing industry this past 12 months quite a bit uh not all of it positive um
58:16
any concerns of of this this possible banning or limiting forward
58:23
facing sonar at all yeah like um I have mixed emotions about it too because you
58:29
know I've been fishing like since I was a kid like you guys you know like my dad brought me up in a canoe right like we
58:35
go to lakes and camp in tents of all things you know do you remember tents guys oh yeah oh yeah um and we we we
58:44
just have the little canoe and my dad would be paddling and I'd be in the front of the boat hold my rod just just can't wait right um but then you know so
58:52
then when I was working you know obviously established the company and we're selling our products to let's let's let's focus on crappie fishermen
58:59
specifically uh crappie tend to you know uh gravitate to what they call brush
59:06
piles um or objects within water and so once you find that object you're likely to
59:12
find a very large pile of crappie uh hovering about it um and then suddenly
59:19
ly now with for forward facing sonar um as they're also calling it that that that there's a reason why that's
59:25
starting to come out i I believe that terminology um it's still live sonar by the way I
59:32
would call it as well guys but uh you know now guys can see all if there's crappie there or not and suddenly guys
59:38
that would call catch six fish a day now are catching 30 fish a day and that is very uh obviously uh tough on the uh the
59:47
resource itself right so you know I would I would uh being someone that loves just the outdoors and everything
59:54
that God's given us on this Earth especially fishing um I would just
1:00:00
caution everyone to you know practice like limits you know like set some
1:00:07
civilized goals about what you're going to catch and keep if you're going to Well as we move into our 40th uh
1:00:14
television season coming up in 2026 we've resurrected one of our original
1:00:20
slogans with the Fishing Canada show because it if it ever made sense I mean
1:00:25
it it made sense in the 80s when we first came up with it but if it ever made sense this is the period where it
1:00:31
makes sense and that is catch your limit but limit your catch and and I we're
1:00:37
going to move forward with that um in the uh series that's starting to I think
1:00:42
January of 26 is will be airing so you're going to see a lot of that messaging from our group uh because
1:00:49
because of that reason right because because fishing you know we almost hate to admit it but
1:00:56
um it's become a lot easier once you figure it out once you have the tools uh it it is a little bit easier and
1:01:03
therefore you're right we need to be cognizant of that and make sure that we maintain the resources so we can enjoy
1:01:10
it for years might be an eye opener right might be an eye openener for us now that we know we're getting more hey you know what let's start thinking about
1:01:17
this about the future you know for our kids to go out and catch some fish you know and the and the Ministry of Natural Resources all the DFOs everybody should
1:01:24
be thinking the same way you know what maybe we could drop these limits down a little bit i think anglers are are are
1:01:29
big enough people to say you know what I don't need to keep six of the species i could keep three of these species or
1:01:35
four of these you know what I mean we should all be able to tap out a little bit and and give in a little bit just to help the the fishery for years down the
1:01:41
road so yeah and and food for thought um the example that Wade brought out with
1:01:48
the crappy um not only be a little more cognizant
1:01:53
of the fish that you're going to harvest but but even maybe limit yourself when you get into a situation like Wayade
1:01:59
just mentioned you know do you really need to sit there all day long and and make contact with 50 whatever get get
1:02:07
the fish that you want to take home have a have a few uh moments of excitement catching a few more but you know do you
1:02:14
really need especially once you've caught your limit do you really need to sit there the rest of the day and and
1:02:19
catch fish right true so it's it's kind of a very good point because you know also when you are catching fish you know
1:02:26
like nod nod wink wink or whatever they say there um you're also stressing them
1:02:31
out you know and uh so you know if you guys want to keep coming back to those same body waters uh bodies of water and
1:02:38
having success and enjoying that that success you know we all need to think this way it's it's going to be vital
1:02:45
coming up in the future I think the fish get a little smarter too though you know what I that same school of crappies you
1:02:51
knock on that same school of scrappy crappies for three weekends in a row that fourth weekend you're going to say "What the hell?" Either they're not
1:02:56
there or you didn't kill them all they're not there or they're they're on to my little jig and my sonar and my
1:03:02
everything else too right so they get they're instinctively smart too so um now you've already kind of uh
1:03:09
answered this question our next question was going to be what's next for um fish
1:03:14
finder mounts and you've already kind of answered that you know Bluetooth fob
1:03:20
thing uh aside from that which obviously how do you top that but is there anything else you guys are working on
1:03:25
that we can have uh um since you put me on the spot I don't have anything that my mind has become cloudy suddenly um
1:03:32
but I'm going to say this is that we are always thinking like you said before Angelo we're always thinking we're always listening to our customer
1:03:39
customers um and so where it makes sense for us and where it makes sense you know for the masses where they need solutions
1:03:46
we're right on top of it um so sometimes like they're not as sexy as you know
1:03:52
remote control right have you know rotating pull um sometimes it's just as simple as oh I
1:04:00
need a bracket coming off my pontoon boat you know on on the deck so that that long run of pull that's coming up
1:04:05
from the rail all the way down to that water is further stabilized you know um doesn't sound that sexy but it's vital
1:04:12
or necessary for for all of our customers and fishermen there so we're always thinking always coming up with
1:04:18
new things all the time so what's your what's your favorite item that you've used so far from Fish Fanner Mountain
1:04:24
there's no question about it it's it's the twist yeah i mean it's just nuts you
1:04:30
know that just that was a game changer one thing I that doesn't get talked about won't get talked about a lot and
1:04:35
Wade kudos to you guys is is because we do a lot of not just our big boat we do
1:04:41
a lot of flyin fishing but it's all little aluminum boats you guys are really thinking about the portability of
1:04:46
stuff like that but the one item in in particular is that double clamp mount that thing is there's nothing else like
1:04:53
it on the market that holds the only thing that holds the transducer uh pole up and down otherwise they twist they
1:04:59
turn they bend they burn out that thing is amazing buddy that is so cool thank you yeah we when we did that one that
1:05:05
was that was a cool project because you know you we start out just assuming we'll get a sort of a Cclap really is
1:05:12
what it is right if you think generic term of it form factor so we're just like let's put a C clamp on a boat you
1:05:18
know and um and then but you find okay well the boat's material is very thin and the boat's boat side is angled and
1:05:24
you start running across those issues and then we you know uh shout out to my boys there by the way Alex and Alex
1:05:29
Caldwell and Steven Vans who's like right there with me side by side coming
1:05:34
up with these wonderful solutions um they're they're also there in the fish finder mount it's not just me it's it's
1:05:40
them as well but uh you have this angled boat and you got these so so the what
1:05:46
happens with the angle is that the the clamp wants to follow that angle yep so then we come up with a secondary jaw
1:05:53
idea and that jaw uh coincidentally pushes back against that boat so that it
1:05:59
starts to correct the angle so if you're mounting a screen like say guys um and
1:06:04
you want that screen to be uh you know straight rather than like your head being like this when you're looking at
1:06:10
it um you know that secondary jaw is vital and then we came up with even further like well the one one other
1:06:18
thing is with this the pitching of front to back so you know that's the secondary jaw
1:06:24
helps that as well and then we came up with a stabilizer plate because you can also have you know this kind of
1:06:32
And when it comes to live going back to that guys want things to be super stable so that old jaw system and um clapping
1:06:40
system as you're bringing up Peter it's almost like having a permanent mount on your boat already it's like screwed in
1:06:45
there it's insane good it revolutionized portable um transducer
1:06:51
mounts as far as I'm concerned I don't think first of all I don't think anybody's doing it and and secondly uh
1:06:57
it's it's a gamecher in that area as is by the way I'd be remiss not to mention
1:07:04
the magnet we have to talk about the magnet because that is spooky good
1:07:12
that's That was a fun one guys um so we did get a patent alex and I we worked
1:07:18
really hard on that product um because like you know how many magnets do you use
1:07:24
and all that when you start out right um so I was at a buddy's place years ago and he had a fish tank that's exactly
1:07:30
where you got I knew you got that cuz he had one and he did the same thing yeah
1:07:36
so the fish tanks they had this little like he had this little scrubber where the one magnet was on the inside of the
1:07:42
glass of course magnets don't stick to glass right right so it's one magnet on
1:07:47
the inside of that you know substrate or whatever that material is this in this
1:07:53
case glass and then the other magnet on the outside and then you can move it around for all the algae that would grow
1:07:58
in your fish tank you move it around that magnet on the inside would fall the magnet on the outside it would scrub the tank glass yeah yeah so I thought you
1:08:06
know what that's that should be on boats it just would just came to me right um
1:08:11
and then uh so then I started just testing things and um and everything
1:08:16
yeah the magnetic transducer has been fabulous like don't use suction cups guys no no no no just a massive hassle
1:08:25
that's a headache um fishfindermouse.com if you have a a kayak a canoe like
1:08:32
Angela's bringing up um like thin hauled openhauled boats um even transoms like a
1:08:39
lot of people like get mixed up like transoms aren't always like in your typical aluminum boats and that's that
1:08:45
really is the main stay of our our customer base for the magnetic transducer mount um you're you have even
1:08:52
on the transom the transom doesn't that's a thick part of the stern that the motor can clamp onto and it has
1:08:58
enough strength for that weight to be on it however those transoms in anything from like you know let's say 10 or eight
1:09:04
you know 8 ft uh watercraft all the way up when it comes to aluminum boats all the way up to 16 or so the transom
1:09:11
doesn't go all the way to the floor so if you want to put your transducer on a stern like traditionally the manufacturers tell you to do but by the
1:09:18
way you don't have to put your transducer on a stern you can put it anywhere i was just going to say yeah as
1:09:25
long as the water um that's coming underneath it is not like wash or bubbly
1:09:30
or you know voided because the water needs that or the transducer needs the water as its element to transmit signal
1:09:37
back and forth but going back to this transom things the transom only goes
1:09:42
down so far in boats up to that length being 16 foot sometimes even 18 foot so
1:09:48
you can always have a space where you can get our magnetic transducer mount onto the stern if you want to but if you can't do it there you can put it on the
1:09:55
side of your hall as well mhm somebody told me that they bought one of your magnetic
1:10:00
units and they use it on a on a tin canoe i think it was a
1:10:07
Grumman an old Grumman that Yeah and and they mount the magnet on the side of
1:10:13
their Grumman and that's where they have their pole with the transducer on it so
1:10:18
that as opposed to trying to run it from the back cuz it is a st a square stern but he just found it so much more
1:10:24
comfortable putting it on the side and still being able to manipulate it so that it's it's he doesn't have to lean
1:10:31
back so it's not although it was designed for transoms you're right it it will work in a minute uh on the side
1:10:39
question other than aluminum or steel can you
1:10:44
shoot through fiberglass with it sure yeah absolutely and plastics right you
1:10:49
know kayaks are typically plastics molded plastics
1:10:55
polyropylene usually um but fiberglass of course you can but there is a
1:11:00
thickness limit right um you know that was one thing we struggled with too because the magnets are very powerful so
1:11:07
what you do is you have the two magnets which again guys what I was trying to allude to is that you're going to have
1:11:12
one magnet on the inside of your aluminum hall let's say or plastic hole or fiberglass potentially and one magnet
1:11:19
on the outside um so it's acting like an invisible clamp so you no longer need
1:11:26
some kind of mechanical apparatus that wraps around something to clamp on right this goes right through the material now
1:11:32
so again Angelo going to the thickness of the material and this being fiberglass you're going to be like
1:11:38
wanting to be around 38 no thicker than 38 and where I was going with it initially was the power of the magnets
1:11:46
when you take the magnets apart uh I made this mistake when I first like I
1:11:51
just stirred wonder you know with our prototype oh and you you forget that these are very powerful magnets and they
1:11:57
want to attract to one another right and suddenly um I I got the two magnets went
1:12:05
right on right on here i think our screaming for a bit wondering do I
1:12:12
just pull it off or do I need some kind of tool to get it off my hat i think our uh our friend Dean Taylor uh ran into
1:12:20
that or I had a near miss i put it on a pontoon boat when we were on uh at Nordic Point and I couldn't believe how
1:12:27
powerful that was i had my hand in the way and pulled it out just in time but they're they're pretty intense you had
1:12:33
people people listening if you were to put these two magnets together like this there's no man alive that could pull
1:12:38
them apart like that you see how apart there's a technique you have to twist them and then pop it apart to leave them get the way they are they are so strong
1:12:45
it's freaky incredible how strong they are so they had to be because Sorry Angel go ahead i was going to say people
1:12:51
listening uh this is a solution to pretty much every every application uh where you
1:12:58
need a transducer mounted on a portable application
1:13:04
pretty much unlimited if it's a portable application the magnets that we're alluding to are the answer the
1:13:11
definitive answer there is nothing else on the market that is even remotely capable of doing what this does and it's
1:13:18
so for Yeah for Yeah uh portaging uh if
1:13:24
you're bringing units into the outback any of that stuff it's just it's it's
1:13:29
the solution it's for us flying trips guys flying trips sorry to interrupt flying trips are a must huge for us with
1:13:36
that absolutely so it's just another one of the many things that uh if you haven't been to
1:13:42
fishindermats.com you need to go our portable kit isn't so portable anymore we got so much in there oh my god
1:13:48
we got transducers upon transducers we got a 9 in screen we got all Wade stuff we got
1:13:55
Let's put it this way Wade when we go into a flyin now we
1:14:03
probably short of having multiple screens per
1:14:08
transducer i'll say I'll say maybe we don't sometimes we have a couple but in most cases short of multiple screens we
1:14:15
have all the capabilities on an Outback trip that we do on FNC1 or any one of
1:14:21
our other boats oh yeah oh yeah carry it all in one place and it's all due to your products all due to to what you
1:14:28
built because before we struggled I got to tell you flying trips were always fun
1:14:33
but we would go in knowing that we were going to be limited oh wait everything
1:14:40
and then they say "We have fish finders on the boats guys." You know and then they get there and it's the cheapest crappiest from 10 years ago that
1:14:46
nothing was give you a good signal and so it's like "Wow." And now we know when we go into a little out black flyin trip
1:14:52
we're going to have the same technology at our fingertips as we have when we're here on in home base so it's it's
1:14:58
changed our lives completely and anybody listening that loves technology that loves fishing with technology if you
1:15:07
don't have this product somewhere in your arsenal you're missing
1:15:14
out on the full capabilities that the technology whether it's whether you know it doesn't matter what brand the
1:15:20
technology is but you're just missing out on being able to use it to its fullest extent because this stuff is I
1:15:26
keep saying it is a game changer and uh thank you and you mentioned that earlier in the show Angelo if I may cut in
1:15:33
quickly um the portability so the funny thing is is like when you're transiting
1:15:38
or your your courier is getting your product and you're buying boxes to package your box uh product
1:15:45
in coincidentally the two things work together like you know you're going to have airplanes or trucks carrying your
1:15:51
product so having major long poles wasn't the best idea so um we came up
1:15:57
with this to answer both issues so from one from a manufacturing practical standpoint and the other from yeah if
1:16:04
you're an ice fisherman right or if you're a flying trip can you have a giant pool in a small little puddle
1:16:09
jumper water plane you know water landing plane or um you know whatever
1:16:14
kind of vehicle um so you know I came up with the idea of having segmented uh poles that you could screw together like
1:16:21
a pool cool pool queue and so our gen 3 and Gen 4 live sonar mounts they have
1:16:26
that feature that Peter was also mentioning as well yeah gen three and and and two etc if just for
1:16:33
clarification purposes generally um generally means the thickness or weight
1:16:40
of the of the poles because you know you've got the little small thin poles
1:16:46
that we would use for a outback trip and then you've got that big bruiser that we've got on our pull the heavy duty the
1:16:53
heavy duty poles yeah gen the Gen 2 Gen 3 Gen 4 really
1:16:58
mostly refers to like let's say chronology a time frame when we brought these products out and then we could
1:17:04
brought out you know Gen 2 and Gen 3 they're um index pin um systems and so
1:17:12
there is a slop factor in like you know like play if you will the you know your
1:17:18
receiver block and your beam going through and all of that so you have to have some kind of screw to try to take
1:17:23
that out because of the machining process and everything um but the Gen So
1:17:29
so that's that's what I'm saying not to get long-winded here is that that's more of a time thing but we do have um like
1:17:36
the Gen 2 is a smaller pole system too like a 3/4 in contiguous pull if you
1:17:41
will whereas the Gen 3 and four have that nice segmented cap capability and then also they're 1in diameter so they
1:17:48
become more robust over time fisherman like especially when you you're dealing with tournament fishermen um and guys
1:17:54
that like you guys that are fishing a lot they're going to beat up their gear so that's what that was part of the
1:18:00
other thing and and then also Angela when you're talking about um the big
1:18:06
bruiser mount that you have there that's the heavy duty we don't call that any generation that's a heavy duty uh
1:18:14
product and uh you know when we went from the Gen 3 to the Gen 4 the Gen 4 is
1:18:20
really based around that heavy duty concept of that vice we go from a receiver block and the reason why I call
1:18:26
it that is like a truck your truck hitch it's a receiver hitch right same thing
1:18:31
with it so I called it a receiver block but the way that it works you know you slide something into it you know engage
1:18:37
that way uh whereas the Gen 4 um really Steven was the main uh progenitor of
1:18:44
this idea was having a vice imagine being in your shop and wanting to clamp
1:18:49
something to work on it while you go to your vice of course and what shop
1:18:55
doesn't have a vice in it guys in the world true right yeah
1:19:01
that has been a huge like just the the uh stability and there's no movement
1:19:07
rockid rock solid yeah no one has that it's just us so I we've bestowed all of these
1:19:14
wonderful accolades on you and uh and all the great work that you've done and how wonderful the product is
1:19:21
however however having said all of that I do have uh it's not a complaint but if
1:19:29
if I have um an idea that you should look into
1:19:35
and that is some of these guys you mentioned tournament anglers you mentioned you know pros you mentioned
1:19:41
guys these guys have got you know arguably I don't know anywhere from 150
1:19:46
to $200,000 tied up in these beautiful rigs to the point where everything is just
1:19:52
beautifully colorcoordinated and they've got all that wonderful sparkly red flake and the gold flake and all that the one
1:19:59
thing I've gotten from a few of my buddies that are in that position is why in the hell don't they make this in
1:20:08
colors so that on my red boat I can get an anodized red pole as opposed to the
1:20:18
silver or chrome whatever stainless steel finish that you have on your stuff now so I'm just throwing that out there
1:20:24
you're putting me on the spot Angela oh I'm just throwing it out there buddy i'm just throwing it out there don't worry
1:20:31
you got the right guy in the show here right now so uh the reason why is we use
1:20:36
hard clear anodizing and hard anodizing doesn't allow for uh a variety of colors
1:20:42
when it comes to anodizing so when you go to Walmart and you buy your fancy BMX it's all anodized uh bike you know that
1:20:49
is um they're using just a clear anodizing that's not hard hard is
1:20:55
actually it it the surface of your uh aluminum becomes very hardened so that
1:21:00
it it can endure much more you know robust applications whereas um you know like
1:21:07
when it comes to like making things look fancy uh you can't use hard clear that way unfortunately impossible guys have
1:21:15
asked for black or whatever they don't like the the glint of the sun off of you know something shiny like our mounts um
1:21:22
but you know I really think it's more important myself um and I'm the guy where the buck stops within this company
1:21:29
that it is it's tough as nails to endure whatever it can be and some guys do actually coat our mounts i've seen guys
1:21:36
spray them or whatever and and and coat them themselves so Oh okay never thought of that i guess that's a a solution but
1:21:43
at the end of the day I think that's great because first of all the explanation you just gave us I knew that
1:21:49
already as you guys have told us before uh but also it makes it very distinctive looking and you can tell uh fish finder
1:21:58
mount from just about any place else by the finish on it something about brushed
1:22:03
aluminum brushed stainless again it's a guy thing you just look at I like that
1:22:09
that's so cool you know what I mean d checker plate you know diamond diamond plate whatever you call it like oh
1:22:15
that's so freaking cool so uh any uh thing that we should talk about in terms of specials anything going on in the
1:22:21
site that you can uh alert our viewers to to maybe key in on well we you know Angelo Lake and Peter we I have to say
1:22:29
I've been remissed with we want to have a product up there for Fishing Canada there um we're working on that together
1:22:35
so uh uh we've been a little bit remiss on getting that done because we're again we only have limited resources we're a
1:22:41
small company and right now when it's open water season and it's buzzing you know our customers come you know
1:22:47
obviously first you guys are the customers too um but yeah we our Gen 4
1:22:53
is on sale um and uh you'd have to look around the site guys i just don't have
1:22:58
anything off the top of my head but please go to fishbindermouse.com if you're listening to this guys and just
1:23:03
like you know I I'm a guy that puts a library of solutions in his head as he goes through life and you know like you
1:23:10
start out in your dad's shop with your dad falling around as a little kid you know like what are you doing Dad like
1:23:15
that does that this does that okay okay so like I've never left that that's
1:23:21
never left my you know my mental state in my life and uh Alex and Steve are like this
1:23:28
too so when we go and we see something new that could solve a problem it may
1:23:33
not be any problem we have now today but we we keep it in our mind because like
1:23:38
oh that was cool whatever problem that one solved keep that in mind because if we come to that problem we want that we
1:23:45
need that that's a great way of solving that problem so uh that's a long-winded way of saying I'm not quite sure
1:23:53
i'm sorry i got I got one more for you i got one more for you Wade you're the
1:23:59
only company that I've ever I've ever seen but the company name has in the
1:24:05
name normally was that a big decision how did you come up to to that idea like um you know like I was torn a little bit
1:24:11
with that because of the generic feel of it like people like like the like a rail
1:24:16
blaza or something flashy I had you know I could have done that too but like when we started out um the you know what
1:24:24
makes a company run is money right we need customers and you know I I
1:24:32
you know I'm pretty good on a computer and the web so um you know I just really thought that maybe when we were small
1:24:40
the best way to serve ourselves is just say fishfindermounts.com and be like because
1:24:47
you you got a lot of elderly uh fellows out there like myself that maybe they're not the best on computers but everybody
1:24:54
knows from the.com right that right so fishfinder mouse.com type that my
1:25:00
computer i'll get there to fish true it's brilliant when you think of it no and we were lucky that that sorry Vel
1:25:06
just almost done here um that property that digital property or that uh URL still existed and it was open nobody
1:25:13
ever wanted it or it's brilliant that's good it's brilliant i think it's absolutely Alex just saying why don't we
1:25:20
just you know because we started out as float tube fanatics because we were focused on that small inflatable market
1:25:25
at the very beginning to get into what we do uh and then as we grew and we started doing mounts for aluminum boats
1:25:31
and canoes and kayaks and all that stuff too um you know it was really more Alex I think that kind of was like "Hey let's
1:25:38
do call us just simply fishpinermounts.com." And that's what we are now today it's brilliant absolutely
1:25:44
hats off to you for that um we do have to get going but I want to I want to just throw this out on the table for all
1:25:50
of us i would like to because we we haven't done justice to to to the
1:25:58
individual products as far as I'm concerned what I'd like to do in the future and uh Dean uh mostly to you I
1:26:05
think in the future when we schedule the boys on the show we should key in on one or two products and have them here and
1:26:13
have them there and let's talk about specific products right visually we can
1:26:19
yeah because we've we've we've thrown a lot of stuff out there today and I know
1:26:25
that the majority of of the folks who maybe haven't been on the site or uh haven't had a chance to see the product
1:26:31
firsthand are we might have caused a lot of confusion and and I think moving forward if we do on a regular basis we
1:26:38
key in on a product you know like the magnets for example you know I think it'd be great because then folks
1:26:44
can see it they they've seen the inner workings of it and they can make an intelligent decision to go on site and
1:26:51
order it or not if I may just quickly interject here is uh also guys we have a
1:26:57
fabulous YouTube channel that I've done you know hundreds of videos now on there of our products um and you guys have you
1:27:05
know obviously helped us so much too on your show and this podcast and podcast
1:27:10
um you know people if they can't go into a store to see the products I was really
1:27:16
very aware of like that's how I like to do things be able to touch feel see things the next best thing I could think
1:27:23
of to help people really know that hey this is what you're going to get and this is really going to work is to
1:27:28
create videos right that's where everything is going visual visual visual
1:27:34
so I I that's what I did as along with building the website and building the products and everything was the message
1:27:40
was really YouTube so fishfights.com if you look us up in YouTube you're going to see a huge resource there for seeing
1:27:47
our products and here fishing Canada thank you guys again no problem helping
1:27:52
us with that as well you've uh you've helped us out tremendously yeah it's fun working with it it's a riot thank you
1:27:59
guys uh Wade thank you once again and uh we will uh we'll we'll see if we can get
1:28:04
a schedule a regular schedule of having you guys on the show and we'll we'll key in on particular products that I think
1:28:10
could be very useful to to folks uh that are into what we're into so thanks again
1:28:17
thank you Fishing Canada thank you gentlemen all right brother talk to you wayde Van Pelt uh president CEO of
1:28:24
fishfindermounts.com yeah baby uh I know we probably talk
1:28:30
about them a lot more than than normal because uh not only are they a a
1:28:37
valuable partner to this product um but they're just such a damn good
1:28:44
product we it's changed it's changed our fishing company absolutely so I I highly
1:28:50
recommend if you're in the market for anything even remotely close to uh either mounts we didn't even talk about
1:28:56
their mounts for screens no which is which is another mindblowing product that they have it's it's it's just
1:29:04
changed our uh settings for screens on the boats completely so uh if you're in
1:29:10
the market for anything like that at all just go and check them out that's all just go to fishfindermounts.com and and
1:29:15
check them out that are it my friend did we pretty much uh exhaust that subject
1:29:20
we got like an hour in there bud uh do you know we got anything uh to uh
1:29:26

1:29:31
