[Music] and now another exciting episode in The Adventures of Outdoor Journal
0:06
radio well hello everybody thank you for joining us once again I'm Angel L he is Peter Bowman our usual uh lineup of
0:14
suspects vaa Nick and Dean sitting uh behind the scenes come on now yeah well
0:20
Dean nonetheless Dean's not really behind the scenes anymore he's kind of up he's got his own camera we have to
0:26
split a camera he's moved up but he's uh ceras two Cam he's got two cameras we
0:32
got one well we got one that's made into two or three so we got a three camera shoot here great program today by the
0:39
way uh aside from you being here with me you weren't here on the last one I don't
0:44
think huh no was it the last one yeah no the last one was our tamogami wasn't it
0:49
oh the the road again on the road but last one here yeah at headquarters not
0:55
maybe not yeah I missed one I know that HQ HQ OD jhq uh so welcome back thank you good
1:04
to be back were you having a good time were you frolicking in the sun I'm assuming I was you're not quite sure I'm
1:10
not quite sure I might have blanked out that day you never know I might have had the odd blank out day in my in my oh you
1:15
had the odd one all right no doubt about it great program uh joining us later on our special guest today we met uh I met
1:23
him pre pandemic uh when this stuff was just coming to the marketplace in the US
1:29
uh his name is Mike wisecarver and he's got a company called weam and a brand
1:36
product uh that's called booya clean that just taking the US by storm uh it
1:45
is the first EPA certified chemical that I know it's
1:50
going to be hard to believe that can be direct released into the environment that means oceans lakes rivers and
1:58
streams you uh this is a boat cleaner by the way boat and autoc cleaner that you can
2:05
actually pour into legally pour I don't know why anybody would want to but pour
2:10
into the environment and it would be perfectly fine perfectly safe no mass
2:16
destruction none of you wouldn't want to but it's nice to know that it you can do that if it's spiled if you knocked it
2:22
over if you did you know what I mean so we thought it'd be cool to bring them on the show because we don't have anything like that in Canada nor do we really
2:28
have any provisions place which we'll find out uh think about that in Canada I
2:33
buy this boat cleaner this is great look at it just took all that [ __ ] right off the boat and it beautiful it's wonderful but you don't think about the the other
2:40
stuff we soon will now that now that they've initiated so of the Border yeah
2:46
uh I'm sure that it'll U so we thought it'd be great to bring them on and talk about it we also want to welcome a couple of new partners to the program
2:53
yay woohoo uh first sale uh the outdoors uh wonderful retailer uh Canadian
3:00
retailer uh of outdoor goods that we were involved with uh the very first day
3:06
that they came into Ontario right correct in fact the very first exposure
3:12
we had with them was it not in a store in Quebec no Ottawa Ottawa we did our first
3:18
one in Ottawa right that's correct uh but they were all over the fishing Canada show for years and uh we want to
3:24
welcome them back to the podcast uh Network come on now and Dean and my right they're going to be a a network
3:31
Advertiser no no that's right I'm wrong about that all right all right as long as they're back some kind of capacity
3:37
thank you s for coming back we don't know where you are but what exactly are they going to be doing with us Dean see
3:43
I don't know anything about this they're a full title sponsor of our podcast so if you the Outdoor Journal Radio podcast
3:49
so if you see if you see the artwork the logos there they'll be featured on every episode so beautiful they're everywhere
3:56
wonderful and I can vouch for them in terms of uh wonderful environment when
4:02
you go to one of their Stores um but um now they've taken that same approach to
4:08
their e-commerce and you can buy uh products over I know it's it's me even
4:14
saying this probably think well it's kind of late we've all been doing that for years but no I'm just saying their
4:20
web presence is fantastic as well they got an array of product and they got a good little clearance section if you look up there in one of the titles
4:27
clearance you get some stuff 50% off stuff like that so it's a great place to shop welcome sale and the other partner
4:33
that we'd like to welcome to the show although we've I think talked about this in a couple of previous episodes is uh
4:40
fishfindermounts.com give me a hell yeah yes sir Stevie uh
4:46
did we say something that upset Nick I see left while I was in the middle of that what was that thing your dad used
4:51
to say oh what yeah that's Nick Nick isan can
4:57
you want to explain that before we get into this well let me finish with m.com I like these guys by the way
5:05
they're G they make a great product and they're good to deal with so go ahead that's it they're a great what they sell
5:10
shoes underwear what do they sell they sell Fishfinder mounts oh.com
5:16
oh oh that's why they're called Fisher mouse.com and the best part about our
5:22
relationship Angelo's minds and fishing cannon in general Dean even VBA cuz vula uses one of their mounts too is that
5:28
they listen to us we went in with some ideas boys they built it up they went to the Machine Shop built the stuff up in
5:35
no time sent it back let us know what you think that's the kind of company we're deal that's refreshing I like that that's refreshing but more importantly
5:41
they have got the products that we now need as we're using all of this
5:47
wonderful technology us they really are spoiling us when you think about how easy funny
5:53
it is funny because you would think the and and let's talk specifics here you know companies like Garmin that spend a
5:59
bazillion dollars in R&D when they're coming up with all this new wonderful products that we use that we're enjoying
6:06
that help us in our day-to-day fish catching activities but they don't think
6:11
sometimes of okay well how is an anger going to effectively use this wonderful
6:18
product of ours you know what I mean I don't know about that I I'm just saying I'm just saying they got they got her
6:25
down pretty good yeah I know but I'm just saying the uh Folks at fish finder mounts.com have kind of taken that next
6:32
step correct and correct they they are now they finding alternative ways
6:37
Al very effective ways as well so anyways where were we before what were
6:43
well you were just introducing a couple of new partners for us so and they are I'm assuming a Outdoor Journal Radio
6:48
podcast ask de I just on this show we do have we have a network announcement um coming up but uh
6:57
no announcements on this episode okay all right so those are the two say a word in other words saying nothing those
7:04
are the two latest uh Partners on this show let's put it that way awesome all
7:10
right uh shop. fishing canada.com yeah
7:15
you got it usually you don't say that weite as a rule good man I know because I don't like people doing that I want
7:21
them to go to fishing canada.com and then once you're there push the shop
7:27
button oh I got I see so you're trying to do the the non-direct route you're doing a an alternate route because you
7:33
know I think it's like then the Google Maps one is a direct route and then you add another 10 minutes to that one but
7:38
that 10 minutes can be productive you can see new scenery you can do whatever exactly I did that yesterday did you I
7:44
did something yesterday that is exactly what you're talking about you see know you know how often I go golfing yes like
7:52
once every five years only if I have to well yesterday I went golfing and I
7:59
could have taken a very direct route would have taken me I don't know 7 minutes to get there very direct nice
8:05
little drive one but no I didn't do that I went through the back way nice
8:14
Countryside Countryside and and Hills scenery it was just wonderful okay so
8:20
that's how long that one take you took me probably about 14 minutes so double your time but but I enjoyed immensely I
8:26
enjoyed it more than my golfing speaking of which how how did your golf game turn
8:32
out with a fiveyear Hiatus between rounds it has not you know I thought they would
8:37
have I thought it would have an effect on my game not playing all that time but I got to be honest with you buddy I
8:42
don't think I've missed a beat I think my game is as good did you miss a stroke did you have any whiffs did you say like
8:49
oh oh I missed the ball completely or no of course I that's what I mean I miss a be no okay I did that all day what are
8:56
you talking about I'm not talking talking about cing it off to the right if you had a video of my last game 5
9:03
years ago and put it up on the screen beside yesterday H you'd be hard pressed to
9:11
notice a difference notice a difference so so your consistent as hell oh my God the guys I was with they couldn't
9:16
believe it they said really you haven't played in five years and you look like that
9:25
really I love it God help me I don't know why I do it but every once in a
9:30
while you got sometimes it's it's a business thing right nowadays in this world in the world not nowadays it's always been that way is that especially
9:37
sales and stuff like that you get the group of guys on the course because it's very easy to get them there 14-minute
9:42
drive at the longest and then you get your buddies together you do your round you have a couple of drinks you have a cigar and wo okay boys we'll see you
9:49
later how easily we are distracted we're talking about the store the hell we get a uh shop. fishing
9:56
canada.com or go to fishing Canada and uh maybe we'll put a video up of
10:02
Angelo's golf swing how's that on fishing canada.com wow hey actually that's what
10:09
we should do is I know we've got video old video of me golfing I know there's
10:16
there's we do we should capture a a new version of it and see we'll go up to the
10:22
range bring the little osmo I love it I love it done consider it done uh anyways
10:27
if you go to uh our store you you'll see all kinds of goodies like the ones that uh Dean put up behind us just now I like
10:33
that and uh they they are they are these are the latest there's a new uh there's a new unveiling coming up in a few weeks
10:41
one I can't even talk about it who designed it I can't say you can say who design it no I can't even do that did
10:46
you design it how about the yes or I cannot uh confirm or deny can we do 20 Questions 20 questions right now yes or
10:53
no answer but there is a new design coming up very shortly so keep an eye on it uh list feedback Mr Bowman you were
11:01
not here for this episode I did 20 questions this morning with the wife I woke up you got this is going to freak
11:06
you out of all people the most so you know me I have music music in my head all the time right it's always in my
11:12
head like I I can't get music out of my head I just the way it is I woke up this morning I I said Lisa you got I got to
11:19
play 20 questions because I want you to guess who was well she couldn't she hates that game so what I had Madonna in
11:25
my head when I woke up this morning wa Material Girl M and it was there for
11:31
until I put panta in there I I got erased it with some panta but I had that in my head where the hell that got I
11:38
have no idea that's one of the life's most embarrassing moments for me I would not have shared that with my wife I'll
11:44
tell you that right now oh I got to tell Lisa cuz she laughs her ass off you're such an idiot Madonna yeah woke
11:53
up so then I went in with I had to get rid of it so I used panta well thank you
11:59
for sharing that with us Mr Bowman I'm sure the uh the audience appreciates it I know boa appreciates it I know was a
12:05
Madonna fan he big would not surprise me in the least but big time
12:11
nonetheless listener feedback yes now you were not here for this episode The
12:17
Listener feedback on this episode is about episode 129 which is the episode
12:24
where you were absent I hear it's blowing up the feedback is blowing up no coin Ence that you weren't here that
12:30
it's any TV show that I'm on or any TV show that I'm not on rates way up there
12:36
we get million five 500,000 viewers then when I'm on one we get 13,000 because there's so very few uh that you're not
12:43
on that you don't manage to get on that yeah when the audience doesn't see you
12:49
there they say oh my God oh my God call Bill call Frank let him know he's not on he's not there all right thank God get
12:57
they T in [ __ ] off tune in everybody Tunes in to see that you're yeah he's really not there that's how uncommon it
13:05
is so is that a good thing or a bad thing listener that's a great question we should maybe ask the audience at some
13:12
point I think it's a fascinating question uh listener Fe why ha so much
13:17
that's what it is why do you hate Pete Bowman so much that'd be a great question of the week listener feedback
13:22
episode 129 uh was an episode that I did um
13:28
without me without Without You mhm but it was about the Gulf of uh of St
13:33
Lawrence stripe bass quota change I did hear about all this that's oh my God took place uh if you haven't listened or
13:41
watched that episode of odj I think you need to go check it out it's episode 129
13:47
and we talked about the new regulations that were being put in place as of July 15th of this year whereby um the quota
13:57
for strip bass in the Gulf of St Lawrence which pretty much means everywhere where Straight
14:04
bass are now are committed to Canada yeah yeah uh is now
14:09
tripled um federal fisheries Minister uh Diane leoti announced that she was going
14:17
to more than triple the southern Gulf of St Lawrence indigenous commercial strike
14:22
bass fishery which isn't that wonderful we had an expert on the program to um to
14:29
help us with some of the questions and some of the answers were pretty scary scary out there we won't get into the
14:36
numbers you need to go back and listen to that but the uh feedback on today's
14:42
program blowing up like crazy right all our socials everything about this thing
14:48
of Facebook is just like we're looking at just lighting up lighting up lighting up so it's crazy now are these all
14:54
people from you know that have got skin in the game Dean like it almost all of
14:59
them they're all from the east coast of Canada or Eastern part of Canada yeah nobody really gives a Fiddlers you know
15:06
what if they're from a great saying by the way I used to
15:12
I used to use that one all the time if they're from the you know left side of the country right right so that'd be the
15:19
both the striper people the salmon people well people everybody there's
15:25
everybody getting involved with that you have a stake in it so so uh the pros and cons we pulled out a pro and we pulled
15:32
out a con I guess uh is this the way this works Dean yeah because there's a lot of people on both sides but there's like hundreds of these so I just pulled
15:38
out two that kind of represent what each side is saying so the pro a striper side
15:44
uh there're saying uh and we don't know we we're not saying who this is it says at the end if we want to say it okay
15:50
that's from uh Mike Rous 64 Mike Rous yeah I guess he doesn't
15:58
mind he put his name on yeah uh he says they almost wiped out the bass fish re in
16:04
fact down to 5,000 fish years ago and now they want to do it again and line
16:09
their pockets with the profits uh that is one of the problems
16:14
the other part is pandering to the Deep Pockets of the Atlantic salmon Federation who blame stripers for
16:20
everything even though uh when the fish populations were low the salmon still
16:26
had no decent resurgence uh numbers so uh what was the scapegoat in those days
16:33
well it was weather water temperature uh spraying chemicals we've done shows on
16:39
that before um on the woodlands or the offshore fishing question mark he goes
16:45
on to say every angler in New Brunswick would be overjoyed to have a strong
16:51
Resurgence of great Point course who wouldn't is there anybody who would say
16:56
I don't want exactly uh but the reality is he goes on to say that they have
17:01
thrown millions of dollars in government grants for studies and tagging programs
17:07
for decades with no real result on improving numbers so why are they
17:13
allowing this to happen uh once again uh Mike Rouse 6004 thank you for sending
17:19
that you know you could almost take that comment and take it out of Atlantic Canada and bring it into
17:25
Ontario where we have spent millions of dollars working on uh bringing back the
17:32
freshwater Atlantic Salon I wonder how much money in total in Atlantic salmon oh my God salmon yeah from from Great
17:39
Lakes to right up to the east coast can you imagine number more than we spend on
17:44
the total fish re program and hunting probably and hunting too I bet you it sounds like it and what do we got couple
17:50
of salmon here and there uh how about the pro salmon comment Pro salmon uh quote Oh this is
17:57
from sh Clark uh he says LOL the question is can
18:03
our trout and salmon survive these eating machines wow so the spers are eating machines W folks used to blame a
18:10
lot of other factors for the decline of the salmon little do we know these monsters and the chain pickerel were
18:17
chowing down on all seun fish on all seun fish OK DOI there Sherman all of
18:24
them so every one of them has gotten killed by a striper or a pickerel yeah I don't know what else cun would be
18:31
involved in this discussion because is there not seun brookies out there somewhere on the East Coast or Browns
18:36
yeah but notri water not in striper water not in the golf yeah anyway I me it's pretty bold statement to say down
18:42
on all chowing down on all SE run fish hm Sherman knows something we don't know I
18:48
guess yeah and you know it's easy for us to gang up and and pick sides here
18:54
because you know let's be honest about it neither you or I are big into Atlantic salmon fishing but we don't
19:00
have anything against that fish or fishing at all but that's why I'm just saying it it would seem easy for us to G
19:06
up and and certainly my background and history on uh the freshwater Atlantic
19:14
salmon in Lake Ontario projects uh would would tell you that because it seems like I'm picking on those and yeah but
19:21
you're not I what I can read through this I know you you're not picking on the salmon or the salmon fishing or anything like that it's the monies and
19:27
the efforts put forward and monies that not really spent properly in the case of the freshwater Atlantic salmon what I'm
19:33
pissed off at and what I've been screaming for the last 20 years at is the fact that I love fishing period And
19:40
I was young enough to be able to enjoy the Glory Days of the other salmon
19:46
fishery in the Great Lakes shanuk salmon and coo Co and Browns not a salmon but a
19:52
brown and all I I would got pissed off is why are we spending all this money
19:58
with The Atlantics which clearly our Roi on the Atlantic is embarrassing right
20:06
so why are we doing that when we had we had and could have again a wonderful
20:12
shinook fishery in the Great Lakes with a little bit never mind the millions of
20:18
dollars that we're throwing at the Atlantic salmon just a portion of that money thrown at the other salmon species
20:25
would be great for sport fishing CU that's at the end of the day that's my interest tell you salmon are pretty revered obviously right when you see
20:31
this the these fights against and fight for and all that do you know you're a fly fisherman what are you what do you
20:37
hear in the world of of Atlantic salmon for both Ontario East Coast anything do you hear Do you hear it's still
20:44
considered prestigious out east but all the stories you hear are from you know
20:49
the 70s like there's no recent stories people don't travel up here for them anymore because you go out and get
20:55
skunked or you hook one like they're just a species that I think are being kind of Left Behind which is too bad
21:01
because fly pitching for stripers I got one this year and they fight like nothing else like that could be a
21:07
massive draw huge like it is so fun yeah and and there's a whole area that we
21:13
weren't allowed in because it's fly fish only so those guys could have it all to their themselves like it's a really cool
21:19
opportunity and I don't even care when when the Atlantic salmon was in the 70s
21:25
when it was going strong I don't think that could match the opportunity that you have hooking
21:31
into in terms of pound and size I don't think it would match the opportunities that available with stripe bass for fly
21:38
angler yeah today yeah it's really but you got to we got to look at it this way too it's like the purists the salmon
21:45
people will they ever will they ever tap out to the salmon and move into the stripers and the reason I would say that
21:50
is because you and I or me I'll just use me but I think you're with me there 30 years ago common carp were [ __ ] in my
21:58
mind get them out of every get I can't stand them now I love fishing for common carp so people can change if that's you
22:04
know open your mind yeah I think the die hards will always be that way like the
22:10
same and die hards are never but I was getting texts from buddies out and BC who I who I do steelheading with and
22:17
they were asking me about the East Coast stripers so those guys are as purist as it gets and they were they were cuz they
22:24
like getting their string pulled right they like going on and having fun so right on anyway I will never solve this
22:31
issue um but go back check that check that episode on either uh YouTube on our
22:37
ficient Canada YouTube channel right or on a podcast we we had an expert on the
22:42
program on that episode that uh a scientist who says that if things go the
22:50
way it looks like they're going to go with this new increase we could see the total decline
22:56
of the strip bass fishing on the miror within 3 years yeah less than that 5,000 fish or whatever done wow Gandhi Wow
23:04
that's scary now that is frightening that is frightening and a shame but
23:10
anyways um moving along podcast Network highlights Outdoor Journal Radio podcast
23:18
Network for those of you who are not aware of it yes it is a network not just
23:23
a one show we are not a one trick pony our Pony can do
23:29
six tricks not just one uh one of those tricks is called eating wild and I got
23:34
to tell you I got to tell you and I got to tell you and I got to tell whoever is
23:40
willing to hear me tell Nick well Nick I can't tell ni he
23:48
G okay the prince's dog the prince like the prince not princess the prince's
23:56
prince's dog dog because my dad had the saying and I for
24:01
years I didn't know what the hell he was talking about D was the the best guy you've ever met I had no idea what he
24:07
was talking about and then finally as I started growing up cuz he used to use that he used
24:12
honestly Mom sorry for this God bless you but he used to use it with my mom all the time because what would happen
24:20
already funny every Sunday you know he'd wor he start up the 52 chevy and we'd go
24:26
to usually be Rice Lake Rice Lake yeah Bey Ontario and he would take us out let
24:33
us go out and do some fishing there you know as a family thing right he worked the other six days so it was Sunday only
24:40
and it and it was a normal thing we knew that you know we were leaving Sunday morning to head up there so everything
24:47
would be ready to go cars because you had to warm cars up back then you had to start them up and let him run in the
24:53
summer time oh especially in the summertime yeah so he's got the car started up everything's in the car the
25:00
picona basket with the sangu and all that stuff in it we got we're all ready to go and we're all loaded we're in the
25:08
car Reno and I are there dad's there behind the wheel waiting mom was just
25:13
about in the car and every single time she'd say oh just AE I have to go pee oh
25:19
okay okay yeah so he'd
25:24
say so for years I had no idea what that was and I it got older I finally asked him I dad what is that and you knew
25:32
literally I knew what the words meant but I and it means the prince's dog and
25:38
because the prince whoever the prince was um whatever Prince he was referring
25:44
to obviously some Italian Noble person um that liked hunting with dogs on
25:50
Horseback you know with the dog thing and he the his favorite dog his personal
25:55
dog the prince's dog every time that the the the horn would go off to go hunting
26:01
he'd have to have a [ __ ] and so all the hunters and all the other dogs and the horses had to wait
26:07
for the princess's dog to have a crap that horn was a trigger for his that was it Su
26:13
went D so that's what that means that's a Prince's dog Nick is the
26:21
prince's dog he is God love him anyways uh as I was saying I want to tell you I
26:27
want to tell you I want to anybody who will listen this uh new video that I
26:34
believe is going up or is upda it's up
26:39
um it could be the best thing I've ever seen in the outdoor food preparation
26:46
business wow and I've seen a lot of them you've seen a lot I'm telling you this could be I know maybe I'm a little bias
26:53
but because we had a hand in it but I got to tell you uh Anton
26:59
on camera with this subject matter and in this video is nothing short of
27:05
awardwinning and if you're into venison sliders of
27:11
any form or shape you must see this video je you a lot of uh these little
27:18
tricks and dos and don'ts but most people do this you don't need to do that I love way he gets just right to the point I did everything he said not to
27:25
like how I normally do it everything he said says most people do this but you don't
27:31
don't do that it's [ __ ] you know what I mean now Dean does it the other Antonio's way and it's perfect it's up now on fishing Canada YouTube channel it
27:39
is a how to make venison sliders is what it's called so it is a must really good
27:44
little watch speaking of cooking Mr Bowman uh as I mentioned at top of the show a new partner on this program is s

28:09
liberty of checking them out uh reviews and stuff before I came on and everybody Raves about them so I got to go and
28:16
check it out myself uh you can also check out water heaters and even ovens

28:40
sale.ca come on now in the news Angela you're going to
28:46
love this story Texas dad well you're not going to love it but you are going Texas dad 66 years old died horrific
28:52
flesh eating bacteria death I'm not laughing at that by the way he's going to be laughing at this if you think I'm
28:59
very morbid at this point no this is this is the part Angela will laugh at after going fishing while wearing
29:05
flipflops so so before you continue with the story uh I just want to tell you what the inside part of this is uh for
29:12
years I have frowned on anybody not just Mr Bowman although Mr Bowman is the only
29:18
one who occasionally violates this particular fishing Canada law because
29:24
he's a bit of a rebel and he would he would violate it just because just to violate if I hated something I'd
29:30
still violate exactly ex that's what you're saying and that is wearing flip-flops on the deck of a fishing boat
29:38
like fnc1 or the Princecraft Adventure that we use today that is
29:44
Laden Laden with sharp little pointy little hooks and I'm not talking a
29:50
couple I'm saying it at any given time on the deck of one of our boats I did the math the other day by the way just
29:55
so that you want to know I took an average we have over 120 exposed
30:02
points of hooks holy crap that's a lot of hooks 120 exposed points and extremely sharp
30:10
Expos because God forbid should we use any dll hooks right they're extremely and they're just everywhere on our deck
30:17
and then I see this clown coming onto the boat with these little flip-flops
30:22
and I'm thinking are you like are you blind to all of this that's what the behind the story
30:31
story but they're so comfortable the back story they really are comfy I have to say I like to go naked when I fish oh
30:38
my but there's some things that you just don't do a hook in your wiener though you got to watch that that's not likely
30:43
to happen don't be doing that kind of stuff you know in other parts but not we did that whole shoot there with all those hooks and guess what I got one in
30:49
the arm didn't get remember I got one in the arm not my foot at all anyway sorry but now you'll better understand why
30:56
I'm laughing at this very sad story a man named Randy Bunch 66 years old
31:01
passed away within a week of becoming infected his family said eventually succumbing on June 8th so a few days
31:07
before the seasoned fisherman retrieved a Crab Trap in his native Freeport in
31:12
Shallow Waters off a boat ramp he frequented for years he did so in his flipflops so he obviously wanted to stay
31:18
off the bottom but he wanted to keep his feet comfortable I'm assuming his grieving daughter said on Monday a
31:24
decision that proved fatal as he already had a small Nick in his foot so he'd
31:29
already had some kind of an open laceration or something like that that scrape quickly became infected with a
31:35
deadly flesh eating bacteria called vibrio vibrio vibrio vibrio that is uh
31:41
commonly found in the Gulf same thing that makes you sick from eating undercooked Seafood also can get in your
31:47
skin when in warm sea waterer now do you remember I had a similar no fortunately
31:54
in my case it wasn't fatal but I had that kind of the same thing happened to me I saw the pictures of that it was the
32:00
gross thing seen pict I should have sent them to you so you could put them up on the scen no one needs know I just we
32:06
could do that in PO he can put that up in po I don't want to have to look at them I have to do that uh and that that was a um some kind
32:15
of bacteria that had gotten onto my foot and so I can tell you from personal
32:21
experience that that uh for whatever reason when you get bacteria into your
32:28
feet it's far worse than if you get it in other parts of your body weird yeah I don't know why but it's pretty gross it
32:34
is pretty gross so it traveled with you pretty quick didn't it cuz the pictures you showed me like a day by day started
32:42
like at the bottom and it was like all the way up your leg it was nothing first couple of days it was nothing I said oh I got then you know I I scratched the
32:49
hell out of it which is probably another part that you know wasn't smart but anyways yeah I crawled from my foot up
32:55
my ankle and then uh it if I didn't get into the antibiotics two two separate
33:02
series of antibiotics I I might have passed away that's how bad it so was it the same thing was it the I don't all
33:08
they told me is that uh that I I I got very lucky I got very lucky and was able
33:14
to stop were you wearing flip-flops no you weren't were you hey
33:19
no you weren't were you see it's not flip flops out of the culprit here my friend and not only that but they make
33:25
you look so ridiculously comfortable no relaxed no it's just so
33:32
nobody even sees your feet there's a rule see your feet like b i v sees it head and shoulders and all that stuff
33:39
baa and I both see it and we look at it we say is like what is going on here
33:45
it's very comfy so now we have to also add a third element now we're concerned for your health as well I just won't
33:51
step in the water I'll stay out of the water well you'll be in the water all right anyways car when he first started
33:59
to feel ill before the infection became visibly apparent pentagraph recalled first thinking your father was suffering
34:04
from a heart attack doctors were not immediately able to find anything wrong U the following morning after being
34:10
released he had complete completely changed uh Bunch recall he had a 104
34:15
fever he was lethargic talking all disoriented not making any sense less than 12 hours from walking and talking
34:21
and working still doing things that he loved to do uh he was on a ventilator and in the ICU and we're having to make
34:28
life-changing decisions extremely emotional panograph said so that's terrible that's crazy that's crazy and
34:34
it is a fluke of all flues but it did happen obious it did and does happen and because you don't think of where you're
34:40
walking you know your feet are the that's probably why it's we would had a if you had a Band-Aid even over top of
34:46
that cut would that have helped you know what I mean like a a waterproof Band-Aid I doubt it but maybe I don't know a
34:54
fascinating story if you think a man's death is fascinating but it is fascinating only because we all spend a
35:00
lot of time uh in the outdoors ni red fish right there I'll tell you yeah that's a beauty fan question of the week
35:09
who's this brought to you by brought to you by fishfindermounts.com give me a hell yeah hell yeah let me say
35:17
that again fishfindermounts.com give me a hell yeah let Steve say that
35:22
again too give me a hell yeah and again just keep going Stevie take go
35:28
they made our lives so much easier and so much more fun too yeah we're having fun with the product without a doubt
35:35
check them out check them out go to Fishfinder going to use some next week fishfindermounts.com going to use it again next week yes sir coming up coming
35:42
up hopefully and hopefully on the big boat and on a little boat oh my God so they're the new segment sponsor
35:50
of fan question of the week by the way this one was submitted by uh a real lady
35:56
ha did you see that a real lady with the emphasis on r e e
36:03
lore via Instagram a real lady uncore is that the way you say that so it's at
36:09
real a real lady uncore yeah that's a little play on words right versus a real
36:15
lady a real lady versus a real lady so she's a real lady like a real lady real lady yeah yeah she could be a real lady
36:21
too I suppose yeah yeah she very much or could be a guy calling himself a real
36:27
lady now that would be tricky that'd be trickery Tom Foolery at its best think
36:32
about that one uh that would be that's brilant I don't know where we're going brilliant submitted by a real lady uh
36:40
doore by uh via Instagram I only say that because Dean they can submit it in
36:45
a they can submit it anywhere yeah anywhere at all any can they can they write you a letter snail mail yeah is
36:52
that any way you can get a hold of me I can get your question and then and then what happens you you have to make a you
36:58
have a team that helps you select the weekly uh yeah yeah do you have a whole
37:03
group I'm hiring yeah I'm sure they could send Dean a real letter they could
37:08
a real letter a real letter not play on words yeah you know that wouldn't be fair I'm thinking because you dump all
37:15
these into that bin that 45 gon I think that if you did have somebody submit a
37:21
letter you could feel like with your i c you could feel around for that letter so that would not be fair so I don't
37:26
recommend you send send a letter do it via um one of the other vehicles come on
37:32
now uh it says uh from a real lady who we have to believe is a real lady uh
37:38
with all the experience in well we have to I know I'm here I got these on st's
37:45
podcast she was on Doo Oh yeah she was on Doo yeah real lady oh okay perfect then now I know she sounded like a real
37:51
lady because I was starting to have these dark images starting to creep into my mind and I I don't like that
37:58
uh with all the experiences in fishing over the years you guys have been out there yeah we have we've been what are
38:05
some of the biggest differences from Back 40 years she's saying she's saying you're old by the way I don't know
38:11
whether you you picked up on that that should be a real old lady smarting up uh differences from uh Back 40 years ago to
38:17
today whether it be equipment fish Behavior people's interest in fishing science Etc and what is your favorite
38:25
and least favorite thing about fishing today versus 40 years ago she's kind of
38:31
hung up on that 40y year thing is it a she like that movie the 40y old virgin
38:37
there you go how did she even know we were around 40 years ago that's what I want see that's what she thought you were the 40-year old virgin that's what
38:43
she thought oh my so that's quite a complex question I have to say let's
38:50
break it down let's let's do it as it what do we have we had a guest to tell us that that would be a lot of baggage
38:55
to unpack yeah there's a lot to unpack there a lot to unpack there that's like there's a lot to a lot to unpack there
39:01
real lady that's good so whether it be equipment fish Behavior people's interest in fishing science Etc so
39:08
equipment it certainly has changed a lot um probably in the electronics world I
39:13
would assume the most right I would think from from 40 years ago we were
39:18
probably running flashers only were we back then no there's paper graph paper paper graph yep you're right paper graph
39:25
that was the the the most common method yeah yeah yeah to now uh to now with everything on the
39:32
boat this brand what was the brand of the paper graph no was the eagle and
39:37
laurance had paper yeah Eagle I'm telling you Eagle site tax was one they
39:44
came out a little later I think yeah that no the green Bo it was green well
39:49
the little green box was laurance no that was a the green the green uh there was a a paper oh I don't know I don't
39:57
know remember that one I got to check that out I know laurance was in that early in that game yeah they did it they
40:02
did the stuff but um fish Behavior that's a good one but I don't think it's changed it's not certainly changed a lot
40:09
fish are instinctive Little Creatures they need to eat they need to spawn and they need to protect themselves to get you know so I'd like to argue that just
40:16
for a moment go ahead because I think what she's referring to and I I would certainly refer this I think fish
40:24
Behavior has changed drastically drastically they're a little more
40:29
cautious exactly not just cautious they've they they're constantly evolving
40:35
meaning that baits and colors and presentations that work 40 years ago
40:41
they slowly genetically handed down um through the genes that that's not a good
40:46
idea to hit that you know call it but are those ones that worked 40 years ago are they obsolete or could you catch a
40:52
fish on them now you might be able to if they were back then we've gone full cir
40:57
prob could you go back to that dirty old paper graph versus all the Liv scope you got now no you couldn't do that right so
41:04
I think that Electronics is higher than fish Behavior though I do agree with you people's interest in fishing I don't know how that's much that's changed or
41:10
not that's a our numbers you know they've gone up and down during the pandemic people were nuts for fishing
41:16
but that's because they it's all they could do basically right so that was a maybe back then but I don't know about
41:21
now ice fishing's probably seen the biggest ice yeah maybe people being interested in that that's mostly
41:27
technology too cuz it just exactly it adds like an entertainment element exactly it makes it more fun to do sort
41:35
of thing and I think the Advent because we're Going Back 40 years it was pre- internet I think the Advent of the
41:42
internet has changed fishing drastically because we've been able to share information yeah technology would be
41:48
that one right that that that we weren't able to before and I think it just brought in a
41:54
different a different Angler that maybe would not have come into the
42:00
fishing scene were it not for the technology absolutely that's a biggy and then the last one she wrote down was
42:07
science I mean science is science they they progress at a kind of a a slow but
42:12
steady rate and it's always eye opening to us when you Stephen cook comes on here I was going to say if you talk to
42:19
Dr Cook I mean science has been there for was there day one right they have
42:25
some new tools yeah to to help them in the science part of it so maybe that would be yeah I don't know
42:32
I think maybe equipment or what Angel say and technology in the sense of the internet that may be the biggest one right I think the internet's probably
42:37
the biggest what's your favorite and least favorite thing about fishing today so I don't even know how to answer how
42:43
do you how do you what's the least let's go least favorite least favorite thing about fishing the wind the wind the wind
42:50
heyo got it the wind kicks our ass all the time and I hate the wind okay there
42:56
you go and that has Chang it never used to be this windy it never there's something with the climate are
43:01
serious body never look at us at Nordic Point Lodge even he said I know I know
43:08
now but I'm thinking back 40 years ago we had wind we should get a wind guy on
43:13
we could get a win guy I know I know who's the you know the producer the show myself okay thank
43:19
you maybe that would be a good program a biggy that's a biggie cuz I'm sure it was never this bad like constant Bang
43:27
bang in the face every day you're looking at the forecast we got to go shooting so and so and so place oh my God 30k steady with the 62 gust next day
43:34
is four you know 40 and the next day is 25 the lowest one is 20 steady with the
43:41
ites seem like there's more wind in our life isn't there that's inter de I like that for the least favorite I like I'm
43:46
going with Dean on that one the most favorite I don't know I don't know that's a good that's another tough one I love the advancement of technology I do
43:53
love that I just think it's so much fun and it's brought me back into the electronics game German has literally brought me back from sort of used to
44:00
love reading a paper map and all that stuff and then go out and you and I you know we used to go out and there our flasher or whatever that old paper graph
44:07
and you try and figure things out like that but now I got away from that kind of stuff and now just like oh my God I
44:12
love my guy my maps here I got this here I got that and I sit there have a coffee and just sit there and watch your stuff
44:18
and say okay now what can I learn today similar but for me it's GPS I think GPS
44:23
has changed it's my most my most favorite part of fishing today is is the
44:30
the whole GPS technology that has allowed us to go back to same areas has
44:36
allowed us to track our way safely from point A to point B all these things that we take for granted today we didn't have
44:44
I mean a triangulating a spot was the best that we could do and triangulating
44:51
was you know it's like saying uh within 100 miles that's how bad it was but you
44:57
picked three spots on Shore so first of all if you were offshore fishing there
45:03
was no triangulating going on but if you were fortunate enough to have three um
45:11
onshore something whether they were a barn or a tree or a bridge or something
45:17
that you could see and you kind of triangular there was even remember the little triangulating Gadget that came
45:23
out no one point really yeah you probably them in Barkley oh yeah you put
45:29
it up and and with one eye you see it here and then you got to turn because you got to match that love it love
45:37
triangulating was the only way that we could get even close to where we wanted
45:43
and then if you found your spot if you you had to drop a marker boy you had to make sure you drop a marker boy so you
45:48
don't lose that spot and then you got to stay on your trolling motor all day long if it dies you have to have an anchor or
45:54
something because the batteries were bad back then and it was just a was so different than nowadays right and that goes back to the first part of this
46:01
question from a real lady mhm um what uh what was your um uh the biggest
46:09
differences from 40 years back so back to equipment or technology would be the
46:16
it has to be cool [Music]

47:01
episode all right now our special guest as I mentioned at top of the show uh gentleman I met had the pleasure of
47:07
meeting about I think five or six years ago just pre pandemic uh at iast the big
47:12
international fishing show in Orlando Florida he's a very good friend of our very good friends uh Roland and Walt
47:20
Roland Martin and his manager Walt uh but uh not only is he fascinating but I
47:26
believe he's got one of the Premier Products to be introduced to our industry in in a 100 years and a very
47:33
practical uh product all of us let's find out more his name is Mike Weiss Carver he is the co-owner CEO of weam
47:42
Inc and of course the product is booya clean hey how you doing Mike welcome to
47:47
the show good thank you for having me looking forward to talking with you guys
47:52
today well we're looking forward to it too this is interesting stuff so so as I told the audience I first uh met you
47:59
through our friends and uh they were all excited at the time because it was a new product they wanted to introduce me to
48:06
and it was this wonderful cleaning product uh but that wasn't the big deal although the cleaning part was was
48:12
pretty cool the visuals I saw back then impressed the hell out of me but the
48:18
real cool part was that it had this thing called EPA certificate that
48:24
everybody covets in the cleaning industry South of the Border and soon north of the Border as well may I add so
48:30
maybe you can kind of walk us through the whole the whole U process that you went through to get this thing on the
48:37
market okay well first of all give us a little history on week yep we've been in
48:42
a specialty chemical business for over 50 years we're a licensed EPA
48:47
manufacturing facility and we make probably 90% of all of our products right here at our our uh corporate
48:55
office um what led us to find out about
49:00
the EPA safer Choice program was we do a lot of business in
49:06
the Gulf of Mexico with the offshore industry the osvs the offshore marine
49:12
vessels and they are regulated under the vgp The Vessel General
49:18
permit and five six years ago seven eight years ago they were looking to upgrade the standards on the cleaners
49:25
that are used on the exterior of these boats and so any vessel that was 51 fet
49:30
or longer in length would have to comply with this in US Waters so we went to
49:36
work and we called the EPA and said tell us about the the new regulations for GG
49:42
vgp they told us that uh eventually they would like everybody to move to a hot
49:48
much higher standard which is the safer Choice direct release program so I found
49:54
that interesting I said well if that's where the f future is going we need to get our company to start moving in that
50:00
direction and so that's where how we started with that and as we dug into the
50:06
program we found that there was uh it was not going to be an easy task
50:11
developing line of marine cleaners and recreational cleaners because of the the stringent requirements with the program
50:19
but that's what drove us to get to the EPA uh program as well without getting
50:26
into the details in the formulation was it as simple as taking a product that
50:31
you already had like a good cleaner that you already had and just adding something to it to make it
50:37
environmentally safe or did you have to reformulate the whole thing well we uh with the safe of choice
50:44
uh program there's inside the EPA safeer Choice uh program there's one that's
50:51
regulated for household cleaners so those products will go down into a municipal treatment facility and so they
50:59
have their own set of criteria to meet the direct release is what we focused on outdoor cleaners anything that bypassed
51:06
a public treatment facility so that's where we put our focus on to answer the
51:11
question it's very hard to meet direct release standards because of the very
51:18
stringent requirements that we had to meet for each individual item that goes
51:24
into that product into those products Wow Mike do you make is it just boat products or is it you said outdoor do
51:31
you make any for anything else or is it all boat cleaning related uh we do have a line of uh Automotive cleaners RV
51:37
cleaners and the Marine cleaners as well uh we do uh working on a couple of
51:43
exterior household cleaners uh that would meet that profile as well cool now
51:50
you mentioned the difficulty in formulating this stuff and getting getting it approved and certified
51:57
um in terms of competition how are you fairing there's got to be other
52:02
companies that are at the same level as as your product booya clean I'm assuming
52:09
in US yeah so that that's a great a great question there Angela we we looked at
52:17
the space that was really intriguing to us was the safer Choice direct release program there are a lot of customer a
52:24
lot of competitors are people that make household type cleaners that are in the
52:31
safer Choice program that meet the the consumer market for stuff that goes
52:38
through the public treatment facility for example there's a lot of people that have glass cleaners a lot of people have spray and WIP cleaners they have a lot a
52:45
lot of laundry detergents and things of that nature that are in the safer choice but when you go to the outdoor criteria
52:53
for direct release there's not a whole lot of people in that space especially
52:59
in the recreational Marine market and so and the automotive Market they might
53:06
have some allpurpose you know car washes in there but we built out a complete line we have a a non- acid instant hole
53:14
cleaner we have a a boat wash we have a a a boat and vehicle wash with a carneal
53:20
wax in it we also have deck cleaners we have allpurpose cleaner degreasers and
53:25
theist goes on and on and on and it took us at least seven to eight years like
53:33
you had said early on when we first met yeah we just had the boat wash but now we have a complete line of products that
53:40
meet that outdoor profile for direct release H hey Mike can you you mentioned like these big 51 plus foot boats and
53:47
that is there a way of cleaning a boat that's still in the water is that a ridiculous question I mean do they have
53:52
to pull their boats every time does everybody have to pull their boats or is there a product that you can actually just washer down in the water well
53:59
within within the safer Choice direct release program uh the criteria is so stringent
54:05
that you can actually wash your boat on land or in the water wow and it can be
54:11
discharged directly into land or water and the reason for that is because of the ingredients that are that are used
54:18
they are all scrutinized to meet very stringent requirements some of the
54:23
requirements that that are very hard to overcome come initially are the Aquatic
54:28
toxicity value so we have to meet aquatic toxicity of every single ingredient of 10 milligrams per liter or
54:35
greater we also to give you a a a roundabout definition about a
54:41
gradability it's basically 28 days it's got to be 100% gone there can be no
54:47
assimilation into Aquatics or left in the environment uh that has to be greater
54:54
than a a a milligrams per liter or greater certain pH requirements uh
55:00
between 2.5 and 11.5 um no hazardous air pollutants no
55:06
TR reportables toxic reporting inventory chemicals um can't have any uh Fus
55:14
chemicals in there forever chemicals so it is a very very stringent program and
55:22
every single ingredient has to meet that criteria okay and I got ask you something at this point though I mean
55:29
you know God bless you I mean you guys have figured it out you put all this wonderful stuff in there that doesn't
55:34
harm the environment and it doesn't do this and it's meets that and it like
55:40
it's fantastic but I'm interested in cleaning my boat I need my boat clean I
55:45
mean it's all well and good to think in terms of you know protecting the environment and we we all should but at
55:50
the end of the day the category is boat cleaner does your stuff clean boats that's the bottom
55:57
line well that's the good part about the EPA safer Choice program is that we had to on the final
56:06
step after we built it out you know it's hard to build these products out because
56:11
of the um you know we had to meet certain price points with these raw materials they cost more to put those
56:17
formulations together and we were very successful in doing that but the final
56:23
step was that we had to send the our product in a leading
56:29
competitive brand competitive brand to an independent lab and the independent EPA
56:35
lab tested it side by side to make sure that that product worked as good or better than the leading competitive
56:43
brand and so the program wanted they wanted a program that would meet all of
56:48
the the certification requirements but you know Green products have gotten a wrap in the past that they didn't work
56:55
well this program makes it sure hold that it does work it will absolutely work according to label directions H I I
57:03
I don't know whether you saw the video or not but I saw a video of uh four or five years ago of a guy cleaning his
57:11
boat at the it was on a trailer but it was right at the dock area and it was a
57:17
mess and I'll tell you this this stuff just clean that Grime mark off the Hall
57:22
of the boat like crazy that's why I'm asking I want to ask Mike and and I want everybody here listening this is a big one is that even in our Canad beautiful
57:30
clean Canadian Lakes there's a lot of our Lakes you go up north a little bit that tea colored water you pull your boat out of there and it has that stain
57:37
on the side of your boat and when you try and wash that stain up I don't care what you're using you can't wash it off
57:42
with soap and water car soap or whatever Mike you have a non- acidic product that takes care of that without even touching
57:47
it right when you spray it on yes sir what is that tell tell everybody about that so the industry has an overall um
57:57
when you look at these bottom hole cleaners or you look at these hole cleaners in particular most of them are
58:03
made with a solic acid their their range is about 8% um but then there's also some heavier
58:10
ones uh that are designed to remove Barnacles and things of that nature and
58:16
those are are extremely hazardous ingredients they contain sulfuric acid
58:21
they contain Hydrochloric phosphoric various blends of acid so we T decided
58:28
to take the choice or the path that we didn't want any of these type of acids
58:33
in our formulations and so that's what led us to develop the non- acid hole
58:39
cleaner you can it'll spray it on it instantly removes the tan and stain it
58:44
doesn't damage any wax or ceramic Coatings that are on your vessels or your boats and the product you can clean
58:52
with on your trailer because it won't damage your galvano or your aluminum or your painted trailer you spray it on it
58:59
instantly takes a stain off and you rinse it right off so it absolutely
59:04
works it's a much safer alternative and we're extremely proud of that in our
59:10
product line uh we have two patents that cover the whole product line on uh the
59:16
technology that we use uh with these products we just recently filed for a
59:21
third patent on our salt remover uh by the way took the Liberty of doing a bit of homework uh because my
59:29
question my next question I'm kind of answering it already but was going to be
59:34
um the fact that we don't see that product your product uh booya clean or any of the other products you just
59:40
mentioned uh on the shelves here in Canada which leads me to ask the next
59:46
question why the hell not I mean we are so anal up here about protecting our
59:52
environment and our pristine areas and our Wilderness you would think you would think that it would welcome the product
1:00:00
that reason I did a bit of homework and the agency that is the equivalent of the
1:00:06
EPA South of the Border is the ECCC which is the environment and climate
1:00:12
change Canada and I understand that they work in concert hand inand with the EPA
1:00:18
um in the US so I think that um I think that somebody needs to talk to somebody
1:00:25
because we need this product in Canada probably more so here than anywhere else in the world because of
1:00:31
the fact that we've got so many so much water uh it's hard to avoid having a
1:00:38
chemical spill over somehow whether it's etching through the Earth or whether it's just direct uh into the water it's
1:00:45
so difficult not to make contact with water with cleaning chemicals and solutions I think this is almost a must
1:00:53
AB I don't know what you what you I know you're bus doing your thing in the us but we need to get this stuff up here
1:00:58
man I'll tell you are are Canadians is there a way that a Canadian can buy this stuff now um maybe do you
1:01:06
have do you have an out online service online some place that they can get it
1:01:11
and is it legal for it to be shipped across the border if the EPA and the
1:01:16
ECCC have not come up with some sort of a an agreement Lots there to un unbundle
1:01:22
for you buddy yeah so that's that's all good information uh that we need to
1:01:28
address right so I think what's happening is is that the consumer today
1:01:33
is much more educated and has a lot more uh information at their fingertips and
1:01:40
so people are now wanting to know why cancer rates are so high why autism is
1:01:45
such a problem and so it comes down to uh exposure right and so as we're
1:01:52
looking to deal with climate change we also have to look at the issues with clean water and clean water is extremely
1:02:00
valuable because we can't live without water and so when you look at when you
1:02:07
look at uh public treatment facilities today and things of that nature what you see is they they process and they take
1:02:14
all the all the uh suspended solids out of the water and things of that nature
1:02:19
but whether there there's chemicals that are still in there that don't break down or whether there's antibiotics that
1:02:27
somebody had used or different you know types of me uh medicines that's all
1:02:33
recirculating back into the waterways and we do know that that's having an impact on the aquatics and also on human
1:02:40
health now to answer your question about going to Canada uh we have had um a lot
1:02:46
of people request our product and uh we are working diligently to get to Canada
1:02:52
we have uh reached out uh to people people that are distributors in Canada
1:02:58
but before we actually go there we need to make sure that um that we work with
1:03:05
the the the Ministries up there and some of the provinces to make sure that this
1:03:10
is uh going to be acceptable to them going forward and what I mean by that is
1:03:15
if you look at a competitive brand that you guys are using up there I did some research and I'll see some of the
1:03:20
products that we using all of these boat washes and hole cleaners and things of that nature with they say is use this
1:03:27
product 2 to four ounces per gallon or spray on the surface let it react wipe it rinse it with water well our products
1:03:35
we go a step further we say uh give the application for the use of the product
1:03:41
but we also say that it is safe to rinse directly on directly on land and in
1:03:47
waters and that's because we are certified by the EPA so we could we want
1:03:53
to we want to work with the Canadian official to make sure that before we bring the
1:03:58
product in there that there're that that will be acceptable to them with that label with the requirements on the label
1:04:05
so are you saying that the products that we're using now let's make an assumption
1:04:11
here that that the products are available in Canada do not have this EPA
1:04:18
certification are you saying that every time that we do wash our boats if it happens to be even on land but if it
1:04:25
happens to be near a body of water that in fact we could be damaging the environment each time absolutely there
1:04:33
the leading competitive brands that we've seen that we've gone up against to give you an
1:04:39
example uh there their boat watches people make different boat watches they make them where they have an orange
1:04:46
smell to them a pine smell whatever right um we researched out and pulled up
1:04:53
their safety data sheets and on the safety data sheets that list the principal hazardous ingredients that are
1:05:00
hazardous according to OSHA which regulates the the human exposure here in the United States but what we found is
1:05:07
is that when they when you look at the Aquatic toxicity on the SDS sheets there was nine aquatic hazardous toxicity
1:05:16
ratings on these boat washes that are being used in Canada and throughout the
1:05:22
United States that's scary should be no-brainer it should be no brainer to bring something like this in then you would think like the way Ang was saying
1:05:30
the way Canadians and and Canada is so stringent and anal about all this stuff and moving forward it's going to get
1:05:35
worse and worse and worse there should be a no-brainer there should be just hands down and there that's right and there's also uh a leading competitor out
1:05:42
there that uh has a deck wash and a engine flush that has uh forever
1:05:49
chemicals in it thevis chemicals in there wow and so uh they proudly put it
1:05:55
on there table contains poly Tetra FL aylene so the industry's got to change
1:06:01
you know we we're we got ahead of it we think that we're in the right space right now uh our our business is on fire
1:06:09
in the United States we are taking market share from uh all these other
1:06:14
brands that have these aquatic toxicity issues and biodegradable issues and so
1:06:19
we we feel really good about what we're doing to protect the environment wow good for you guys Mike if we can be any
1:06:25
help to you at all obviously you've got our interest uh I think products like this I think I'd love to try it I would
1:06:31
love to use it really by the way before we sign up the people that are listening a lot of times and an and I are in this
1:06:38
group and I think a lot of Anglers and Canada are in this group is that we trailer our boat's home we put it in the
1:06:43
driveway and you wash it well you know what when you're washing your boat in your driveway and all that water is Flowing down it's going into the storm
1:06:48
sewer system which is actually going back out into the Lakes you know what I mean so you have to think keep that in mind too and that's a big that's a big
1:06:54
issue that people oh it's just going to in the ground it'll never be seen no no no it's not going to do that it's going somewhere it's not funny how we don't
1:07:00
don't even think about that that's a good point because people listening now saying well I don't wash my boat at the
1:07:06
at the lake lake yeah not even why would I do anything dumb like that go right into the storm sewer system people you
1:07:12
know so so I will tell you this we're coming to Canada we just need to make
1:07:18
sure that we get our label requirements uh straightened out you know with them make sure that they're
1:07:23
all in agreement with that yeah and and if they tell us not to say that on the label we're still coming we'll still
1:07:30
have the the safer Choice direct release on there we'll just people will still know that that's the safest alternative
1:07:37
to use and we'll just take the verbiage off to meet the requirements for the Canadian officials perfect uh Mike thank
1:07:44
you very much for sharing this time with us today and sharing this this wonderful story this wonderful information and as
1:07:50
I said before or I was saying if we can be of any help to you at all uh please reach out uh for the audience if you
1:07:56
want more information you know get a hold of the the the product is called booya clean and I'm sure if you just uh
1:08:05
look it up they'll direct you to uh websites that will allow you to make
1:08:12
the purchase if it's legal to come acoss what if Canadians can actually put in a complaint to somewh say hey we want this
1:08:17
stuff here I don't know probably do that maybe send emails to Mike and the company and they will forward it op for
1:08:23
sure with some backing God Only Knows We complain about enough things it would be nice if we complained about something
1:08:29
that's good for us for change uh Mike thank you very much once again uh we'd
1:08:34
like to get you back on the program especially when you start introducing the stuff into Canada yeah maybe we can
1:08:40
get a little more into detail the various products yeah and whatnot we would love to do that and we are coming
1:08:48
all right EXC about coming to Canada awesome buddy all right buddy we look forward to it thanks for joining us
1:08:53
thank you all very much WoW um that is the fact we are coming here
1:08:59
the products that we're using right now have tox chemical in them that are not
1:09:04
even legal to be released into the environment that's the scary part that's insane so how the hell is that and yet
1:09:11
they won't let booya in well no that's not the case I just don't think they've they've actually even thought about
1:09:17
coming into Canada I mean I probably I think there's a good market for them I mean I might not be the US market but
1:09:23
I'll tell you what there's a good there's a good chunk of people that own and clean their boats right well I was encouraged when I went and did uh this
1:09:29
bit of research is that we do have the a department that is equivalent to the EPA in the US so it's not like they have to
1:09:37
they have to do any hard lift heavy lifting and researching to find out who to talk to it's called the
1:09:44
ECCC and and they work in concert with the EPA and also with the uh Mexican
1:09:51
version of the EPA because the three countries it's a tril Al agreement and
1:09:56
three countries America kind of use the EPA as a guideline as to what they
1:10:02
should do in their own uh respective countries so this should be a no-brainer for for Mike and I'm looking forward to
1:10:08
getting the stuff up here so we can that spray I've seen the video of that spray that you just spray and and and and that
1:10:15
that line of it just goes away and you can't get that off when you try to scrub it off with anything you'd have to use
1:10:20
an SOS pad I think you still couldn't do it and you'd scratch the hell in your boat you know what I mean maybe we could and and I like that it doesn't take your
1:10:26
wax off or your ceramic off and all that stuff but go ahead maybe and they also a version for aluminum by the way yes we
1:10:33
need that for sure now for sure but I think maybe what we should do never even
1:10:40
thought of this while he was on but maybe we should see if we can put it on uh fishing canada.com on the store and
1:10:47
we can sell it on the store on the store hey we could be Mike's first retailer wow that's a great idea glad you thought
1:10:55
of that yeah buddy I'm here for you uh that are it folks another
1:11:00
wonderful episode of Outdoor Journal radio the podcast thank you for joining us on behalf of the entire team vaa over
