Merry Christmas you filthy
0:07
animal our Christmas edition we thought it'd be uh it' be very cool if we uh
0:12
instead of having one question we thought uh we would fill this episode
0:19
with uh just a uh as many questions as we can answer uh as humanly possible we
0:25
have we have a list of them here and then Dean has supplied us with a backup list over here come on now and we'll try
0:32
and get to each and every one of so Darren wants to know if we were fishing for our lives wow what and Rod set up
0:41
that's a good would we want I'll Forge around every day and I will dig up and I got you enough worms I'll dig up enough
0:48
June bugs I'll dig up enough whatever that acid I always that acid I said no I'm going to I am going to buy a couple
0:54
of Li say what I'm bought a couple with you I looked I looked into all the companies and found one from can
1:00
cuz if you're buying some of these Chinese batteries you need to be really careful they're there's some that are
1:06
out there that are are not real good obviously when they put the town there nobody realized that they must have
1:12
started building I don't know cabins and said hey Mark there seems to be an awful
1:18
lot of bears coming through here once a year I wonder what that's all them they'll probably be gone next year and I
1:24
tell you I ate the other night Sabertooth kitten the podcast is there
1:29
any anything else he could screw up this morning [Music] [Applause] [Music]

Adventures ho ho ho everybody Welcome to the Christmas edition of The Outdoor Journal radio
2:20
show uh he is uh Santa Peter I'm Santa Angelo oh Merry Christmas everybody and
2:26
all of the crew which hopefully we'll get to speak to a little later on in the program uh what a special time of year
2:31
for us we have no guests we have no guests we have each other and our now is
2:36
that because nobody would come on the shore we just didn't bother getting anybody we didn't want anyone to be here
2:41
this is a special moment for us we didn't want to waste it right special moment we can't uh Mar that special
2:46
moment with special people right I I I have to tell you something I mean every every episode we are like
2:54
those little chihuahua dogs that people dress up right we we're told what to wear What Not to Wear
3:00
and then some of them are ridiculous like they are today but God I saw them doing that to a pitbull on the internet
3:05
yesterday I I was going to say it reminds I feel sometimes like those little Chihuahuas because they're the
3:11
ones who get dressed up all the time where the owners put on you know all kinds of frilly stuff and and you can
3:17
clearly see in the dog's eyes my my daughter has a Chihuahua as you know yes
3:22
and she insists on dressing this thing up now I don't have a love for this dog anyways but I got to tell you I feel so
3:28
bad every time she brings him over and he's got a new outfit andit yeah and and and my daughter oh
3:36
Dad look at isn't he cute I look at the dog and the dog looks at me and I swear
3:41
to God I swear to God I hear the dog saying don't you say aing word okay this
3:48
is not my idea yes that's the only time you feel good for the dog oh I know I don't get that I know
3:55
when my when my lovely wife who is Awesome with our dog she bought the dog it's her buddy and all that but even
4:02
when she puts it the wrong colored collar on them there something stupid I say what are you doing to this dog
4:07
you're embarrassing him what are you doing he's a big beast he's 80 lbs of bone crushing machine and you're putting
4:12
that [ __ ] on him I I get you I I get you 100% you know they don't want to they don't want that however have seen that I
4:19
think we look pretty snazzy I think we yeah for we did it ourselves right nobody made us do it and I just feel I
4:26
just feel like a chihuahua when I you feel sorry for that dude what's his name oh great question man wow you don't
4:35
know it's not like a was Mexican a Mexican name yeah no it's let's say
4:41
Snoopy or no it's not Snoopy or Spar Sparky my daughter's goingon to hate me for not dog's name this oh I know I've
4:49
heard it too now you heard it too yeah is it like they've had it for a while right yeah yeah yeah yeah anyways we'll
4:55
we'll uh Sparky no but it's like that uh it starts with a
5:00
if Nick was here he would be able to tell us obviously so Nick's out dogging it too wow very
5:09
similar anyways our Christmas edition we thought it'd be uh it' be very cool if we uh instead of having one question
5:19
answered on the show from you the wonderful by the way we are thankful for each and every one of you making another
5:25
great year for us thank you very much we appreciate your
5:30
your I don't know whether it's uh your loyalty or stupidity but regardless you've hung in there for yet another
5:36
year with us and we do appreciate it give me a hell yeah they are loyally stupid or stupidly loyal which one is it
5:43
uh not sure so we thought uh we would fill this episode with uh just a uh as
5:49
many questions as we can answer uh as humanly possible we have we have a list of them here and then Dean has supplied
5:56
us with a backup list over here come on now and uh we'll try and get to each and every one of you so want to want to make
6:04
sure that uh we do remind you that we are very appreciative of the time that you spend with us absolutely come now
6:12
thank you they spend more with us than we spend with us I don't listen to our podcast as much as they listen to our
6:17
podcast there a bunch I do no it's not I'm fallen off the the trail a little
6:22
bit and I'm not I'm not caught up I I don't know I think it's my my podcast listening a lot of my podcast listening
6:29
is in the gym right and I found that I can't concentrate in the gym on the podcast wow because I'll say I got to do
6:36
12 reps of this and I want to make sure I get some good form and blah blah blah and then all of a sudden I say what the hell did they say and so now I'm just
6:42
putting on some music and and I work out to music which is easier and then the podcasts are more like in a truck when
6:48
I'm going fishing or something like that I got a two-hour drive to wherever it's nice then but so it's not often I and I
6:54
don't just listen to them at home or anything like that you know what I mean so I do do you on the treadmill I'll
7:00
treadmill yeah treadmill I'll often do that or if I'm just hanging out somewhere yeah the treadmill I could see that I I I yeah aside from the treadmill
7:07
though I can't I can't listen to a podcast and do something for example I do a lot of cooking as you know yeah
7:14
that's when I listen to them right you would think do you yeah yeah that's why I listen to all mine okay see you would think that that during preparation of a
7:21
meal which you know takes me an hour an hour and a half two hours sometimes you would think that'd be perfect place but
7:26
much like you I've seen prepare meals here much like you I can't focus and concentrate yeah you lose you lose
7:33
little Parts you hear bits of it and then all of a sudden you lost [ __ ] what what you know yeah next thing I know I got turn up where the
7:39
pars onions are burnt oh it's just a mess just a that's why I wish I sometimes I wish I had a commute to work
7:45
for a couple of hours every day cuz I would consume you don't want that buddy you do not want that don't want that is
7:52
not a good thing I poor pity anybody that's got that every day uh by the way uh a big shout out to the uh designer of
7:59
this set today wow it looks like in the North think I saw the guy who did that
8:06
did you a big hand for me a big attab boyy come now there you go uh so before
8:14
we get to that and talking about Garb and and uh uh all kinds of interesting clothing items uh if you have not been
8:21
to the shop that's shop. uh where where are we what's our Shop fishing
8:26
canada.com thank you very much I wasn't sure yeah um you can get all of your
8:32
there is I believe oh I could be wrong
8:37
but I think today is the first day for a special new item a a new one of custom
8:47
fishing Canada hat oh that one that came in the room the other day that's correct
8:52
trucker I think that goes on sale today wow if I'm not mistaken wow so Prett
8:59
slick looking hat did we talk about it for a second I guess I think we showed it didn't we on a previous podcast when they came in we said we were all excited
9:05
about it that's in the future oh that that that episode's in the future that's why I say I think it's coming out today
9:12
I'm like kresan I can always see kres remember that was a great the
9:19
amazing kresan uh carac is the one that comes car
9:25
that yeah that was really good that that was funny [ __ ] we do have a limited uh
9:31
Special Edition fishing Canada cap that's in the fish and Canada colors and
9:37
it's totally different than the one that we've had on the market for a number of years and I'm not really sure in terms
9:44
of how limited it is but I can tell you right now based on the information that I got right now it's pretty limited come
9:50
on now so um go and check it out I don't know whether is that the one that we
9:56
with the signatures on it we these are autographed personally autographed fishing can C in special color and they
10:04
and we do it's not printed on there we sign these we we are every one of them
10:10
yep wow cool come on now uh fishing Canada is
10:15
currently uh embarking on its 39th broadcast season which uh uh airs in a
10:22
couple of weeks January I think it's the 8th of January the fourth thank you Dean
10:27
I appreciate that fourth of January uh will be the uh first episode of the 39th
10:34
season of the fishing Canada show so you don't want to miss that some exciting got some good shows great shows we just
10:41
did a podcast what number of podcast is that Dean but that's coming up that is coming up that's what I said we just did
10:46
a kresan p podcast about all the shows coming up and that's what I'm saying if
10:51
you listen to that podcast when when it releases you'll you don't even have to watch the shows piss on it just listen
10:57
the podcast is there anything else he screw up this morning dude yeah we have a couple other shows he could talk about
11:03
okay what we got that I've already that I've already done like that's no different than the fish and Cannon show
11:09
we shot it about three three months ago and I forgot about it now my God you're K see that's the problem with being too
11:15
efficient we're too efficient around here and I'm I'm not a good efficient guy know all the Hollywood magic we do
11:21
with these podcasts exactly hey being ahead being ahead of the game hey all of our other podcasters you need to listen
11:27
to this guys we want stuff ahead of the time you know let's get them all recorded up quick and be two ahead at least are you all excited about the
11:34
Christmas party tonight give me a hell can we talk about that I don't
11:40
know okay so it's tonight on our recording but not on our releasing ah I
11:47
got you I had a real badass hangover after this one after tonight everybody just to let you know that was not in
11:52
good shape tomorrow anyways uh as you could tell it's a festive season here here at uh
12:00
we're going to do some guitar post Productions I think we should I I I I haven't touched mine I'll be honest with
12:06
you I have not touched the guitar in well since March of last year holy [ __ ] oh
12:15
well maybe we shouldn't exactly you're our anchor man you're exctly since Mar
12:20
you call what's your guy there party Mar you're our party party Angelo party Marty I love that guy I wish I could be
12:26
him just think about it other day I never watch him but I watched him what
12:32
were you what were you going after I was looking uh rooster by uh Allison Chains
12:37
is it chains he had it he had that some [ __ ] had it he's got everything he had it and he had it down nice and easy you
12:44
know he had three cards three cords um four backs yeah maybe four yeah start
12:49
it's but there was some notes D D D D he dides that kind of stuff in there too so
12:55
he did a good job of it I love him and he played it in the proper key y I would love to be him when I grow up I want to
13:01
be party Marty yeah think about it you just you your guitar you can go anywhere you want and within 10 minutes you have
13:07
you ever heard him play anything but that stuff like you've ever heard him rip or anything like that have you ever ever seen his true talent I wonder the
13:13
guy's probably wicked good he could maybe he's not I don't know you never know right that's a great question I
13:19
don't know whether he is or not or whether this is his level I mean first of all first of all he's he's a true
13:25
talent I don't care what anybody says's great teacher yeah he can take a tune he can dumb it down and it sounds like the
13:31
real deal but like I said he's using three or four chords he's gone as high as five chords one time like he he was
13:39
how dare you Marty how dare you um but he makes him sound real he just
13:45
does a a really good job he did a good job in this one why are we promoting party Marty I'm sure he doesn't say hey
13:50
those guys on Outdoor Journal Radio podcast you go you have a huge fan with
13:55
Angelo Viola Marty so you might want to pay him a compl or twoo just to let you know he's he's all about you and Vegas
14:02
Matt too I just want you to know that I'm a huge fan so he watches too yeah I
14:08
might as well just throw all that stuff out there I kind of like Alex terrible who who the hell is that Alex terrible
14:15
just don't worry about him in the event that you don't know where season 39 will
14:21
be premiering on the 4th of January let me just take a moment to let you know obviously global television network in
14:27
Canada Coast to Coast to Coast 8:00 a.m. in its regular spot has been there for
14:32
39 years come on now come on now um that will be the main broadcast that's on a
14:38
Saturday and then uh immediately following that you can enjoy The
14:45
Telecast on um Sportsman Channel on wfn on
14:52
YouTube at that point it just goes did we not deviate off the path of 8 on
14:59
Saturdays or we always been .m. uh CBC for 5 years from
15:05
1989 or 88 89 or I know that on global
15:10
we were always 8 a.m. on global always yeah always that's been uh that's been in stone our number even when it was
15:18
they should be paying us tell me about it I go through this every year with them geez even when it was a a block
15:25
right we we had a block for the longest time it would start at like 6:00 in the morning on Saturday mornings and end
15:32
about 11: if I'm not mistaken where all all the fishing show everybody sat down
15:38
with their coffees and let's go right speaking of which excuse me there you go
15:43
yeah and then the YouTube of course everybody can get it on YouTube I mean that's that's the uh the easiest way if
15:48
you can't get it on any of your channels if you don't have TV anymore cable TV anymore which some people you know what
15:54
I mean there's uh there is that you don't have your special networks then you can get it on YouTube on the Monday following the the Saturday so there you
16:00
go uh all available stting the well it's available now but it's in reruns and you
16:06
guys say comeing s run still well because that's just the nature of the base right you have to kind of we have
16:12
to leverage the asset as it's called in the business leveraging the asset called reruns that's the number of the Beast we
16:20
should we should have music references through this whole show that's how we pay for these lovely costumes I love these come on uh speaking of listener
16:27
feedback were we talking about listener feedback I believe we were were we not yes we were as we always do uh brought
16:34
to you by fishfindermounts.com hell yeah hell yeah fishfindermounts.com
16:41
what a wonderful experience this year has been with those folks who's it from
16:46
fishfindermounts.com give me a hell yeah such an
16:51
idiot uh if you require anything in terms of a fastening device connector
16:58
hey hey they've changed their website too no way sir it's really nice it's looking good I know do you and I found
17:04
it yesterday or whatever looks pretty good yeah they've done a nice job cleaning it up there's still I mean
17:10
there's so many SKS as you would call them skus in there um but yeah looks a it's getting a lot better yeah looking
17:17
good looking good wow I got to go check it out now nice yeah so there you go why
17:22
didn't you tell me I would have checked it up before we well you're reminded me as we started talk because this segment is brought to you by
17:27
fishfindermounts.com it's like after the third time you said it I said oh wait a second see it it
17:33
takes me a while like the previous episodes that I've been blowing so far here just like that I just I need once I
17:39
get on to something I'm good if there was one weak spot in fishfindermounts.com
17:45
be Pete Bowman promoting them CU not one weak spot at would have been their
17:50
website look look look anymore look at this oh my God
17:59
pretty good eh holy moly boys uhhuh I got to have to reach out to the boys and
18:05
hey wait wa wait where's the fishing Canada in affiliation with fish okay we have to talk to them a little bit just a
18:10
little it's not there I see there it's coming coming look at that look at that stuff it is nice stuff folks I'm telling
18:17
you that one there oh my God new for 25 we don't even have that one
18:22
yet we don't even have that one yet no no no that's gen four yeah with a new yeah yeah yeah baby
18:30
we do have that okay this is all nice stuff folks we've been experimenting on working with the the peoples there and
18:36
uh what the hell it'll come back you'll understand in a sec yes all right
18:43
anyways uh so uh listener feedback John Jackson I love that you doing hi
18:50
everybody I'm John Jackson there's a musician name right there uh from Ontario via email Joe Jackson now now
18:57
does this Michael Jackson thinking of I'm thinking of all the mus quit are you
19:03
Jackson Guitars I'm thinking of all the Musical names with Jackson here so um Dean correct me if I'm wrong because
19:11
this is via email but is there a YouTube bonus something oh this is listener
19:17
feedback you're thinking of the fan question see now you're starting to blow it now no fan question because we're
19:23
doing a lot of questions I didn't want us to to go broke okay so I instead
19:29
sponsored The Listener feedback yes and moved the question period without a
19:34
sponsor and without reward well is that fair I mean I I think like I would have it's the
19:40
Christmas spirit they're given to us okay we don't they're given to us with no expected return no expect a return
19:46
well I would okay it's fine you you make that decision that's good but if I'm a a listen loyal listener of the show I'm
19:51
saying hey wait a minute if there's any time that you should give me a bonus or a present would be Christmas we're going
19:57
to give them a full episode we're going to give a one later on all right okay I'm just saying
20:03
Hey listen uh John Jackson from Ontario via email writes in uh hi y'all I love
20:10
that hi y'all hi y'all uh love the podcast and have listened to every single episode unlike you by the way
20:17
John you're a better man than me that's for sure uh early on in the show you guys did an episode or two about your
20:22
adventures filming your other show Outdoor Journal television uh
20:29
that's what that is uh could you get an occasional story about your experiences doing of this show I'm sure there's
20:36
plenty of funny scary amazing moments you've had and I for one would love to hear more about it from time to time I
20:43
agree with you I agree with you you know do we not we should try and throw one in every every podcast maybe that'd be nice
20:50
to do you know I'm in we certainly have new year you know thousand do we not
20:55
have them on YouTube Dean we we've rolled out one season I believe oh yeah
21:00
so if John hasn't seen that polar bear one is on there yeah it's cool polar bear that was a good that was a cool one
21:06
what a great story that is those things are huge that bus is a massive bus with the biggest tires you've ever seen in
21:12
your life those things put when they stand up they put their heads right in the window right in the window like how big a polar bear is scary uh but we do
21:19
have a ton of stories and and the one with the polar bear I think we've said it before we might as well you've got
21:25
took the time to put the polar bear up there this was in Churchill Ontario Churchill Manitoba Manitoba Wella there
21:30
is a Church Hill Ontario by the way is there I found out there's a Church Hill cigar too and there is that too yeah and
21:36
Winston Churchill was the uh involved in some kind of a I where they got the name for that Cigar by the way war was it
21:44
yeah Churchill used to smoke the cigars remember he used to smoke cigars okay so was there a Church Hill cigar before there was a Church Hill or was Church
21:50
Hill first and then they invented a cigar that's the if he was smoking cigars he could have been smoking a
21:55
Churchill Cigar you might have named it after him they built one say hey you know what if you were smoking these cigars let's build this beautiful long
22:02
stick and we're going to name it after you maybe I don't know but I just know that there's an association and Church Hill if if I let me see if I get this
22:09
right Church Hill is the length of the cigar is it not is it a type of length
22:15
and and width all cigars are rusto big and thick or short exactly there there's
22:21
Maduro wraps and there's Connecticut wraps which are totally different but then when you have the name of the cigar the Toro size you know a lot of cigar
22:28
blido there's all kinds of would you take this for a puff what I said you know a lot about cigars I take you for a
22:35
puff I but trust me if I saw you anywhere I see there's a puff right there there's no doubt about
22:43
that uh where were we oh anyways uh Churchill Manitoba where it was minus 52
22:50
degrees for 7 days straight oh it was ridiculous the windchill Factory when we shot this show uh and as you can see
22:57
it's windy yeah your skin uh if I remember correctly un or Exposed Skin
23:04
unprotected uncovered skin had I think 10 seconds before
23:11
frostbite right you remember that oh I remember CU had we had to wear covering and the whole bit it was crazy what a
23:18
great show though that was we went to Polar Bear jail I don't even know whether it exists anymore because I bet
23:24
you it does there's got to be I mean Churchill the town of Churchill is still there polar bears still exist unless
23:30
they got rid of all the polar bears I don't think they did I think it might have happened organically um because of global warming
23:38
maybe the the be sea what happened just as a as an FYI what happened with
23:44
Churchill it was put in the direct path of the migration route for every single
23:52
polar bear that lives in that part of the world so once a year when the Isis
23:58
forming on uh on the ocean every polar bear and I I've
24:04
forgotten the actual numbers but every polar bear within let's call it a thousand miles just for the sake of
24:09
argument I don't know that to be true but every polar bear within a certain geographical uh uh area would have to
24:18
migrate to where exactly the heart of Church Hill the town of Church Hill in
24:24
order to access the ice flows and obviously when they put the
24:29
town there nobody realized that they must have started building I don't know
24:34
cabins and said hey Martha there seems to be an awful lot of bears coming through here once a year I wonder what
24:40
that's all they'll probably be gone next year Henry yeah yep you got lot of bear
24:45
poop around here on obious that didn't happen uh because from that point on
24:51
every year the inhabitants of Churchill realized uhoh we may have built this in
24:56
the wrong place so I think it was in the uh early 80s they actually had to build
25:04
a compound where they would take these bears that would come through of course once the Bears are migrating through
25:11
town they they discover all kinds of cool stuff including including people and food and uh all kinds of stuff so
25:19
they tended to linger yeah they're inquisitive right not necessarily going to kill everything they're just going to
25:25
check things out although there's been a few encounters obv yeah um so the Bears started hanging out to the point where
25:31
somebody had to say hey we got to do something about this and maybe what we need to do is start relocating these
25:36
bears and bet they thought at first of shooting them right I bet they had and they did and they probably did right but
25:42
somebody you know jumped in and said we can't do that so how about if we relocate them so they had this program
25:49
where they would fly in uh helicopters and they would tranquilize these bears and they would pick them up and airlift
25:56
them to you know if that geographical area I just said was a th000 miles they
26:01
would move him 500 miles away figuring okay this will be fine close enough boom drop them there they'll be good well lo
26:08
and behold these bears were coming back and because they had no option this was their route they couldn't just up and
26:15
change so consequently they discovered that they needed to um be a little more
26:21
Asser of the not short of dispatching the Bears so they built what became
26:27
known as polar bear jail and they would take and they still might be doing it to
26:32
this day they would still there is it so they would take delinquent Bears who had
26:38
been relocated three times so on the fourth
26:43
time that these bears would come back they'd go to jail and they would spend
26:48
the rest of the term and that term is because what the Bears do they don't know that the ice has formed they just
26:56
instinctively know it's a time of year where we have to migrate towards the ice because sooner or later it's going to be
27:01
formed we can go out on the ice and we can feed for the next 90 days on seal
27:06
right so what polar bear jail was was a place to keep these really delinquent
27:12
Bears because a lot of them did not come back they would find another route somehow but the ones that would come
27:18
back uh three times they would actually go to jail for 90 days until the ice
27:23
formed and then they would release them and they'd rush out to the ice not to be seen for another eight months which was
27:31
kind of a bizarre the whole thing is the story I mean I'm telling the story it almost sounds like a fairy tale but it's the truth and it happens every year and
27:39
in the jail they fed them seal meat yes they did feed them in there they weren't like oh my God we're going to wait and
27:44
wait wait and then they'll run away and get the seals no they fed them seal meat then that create another problem and
27:49
that bears outside would smell that seal meat and think hey check it we got to go
27:54
find out where that's coming from right so so they uh they uh curbed that
28:01
feeding the year that we were there they were on I think year two where they they were trying to not have that happen and
28:09
so they I won't say the Bears were being starved um they were fed but very
28:14
limited and it was tofu I don't know what it was but they were trying to curb
28:20
them of of of the seal meat and uh to try and avoid the other Bears outside the jail from wanting to get into jail
28:27
so so anyways um then the do gooders God
28:32
bless you if you're a doood I love a tree hugger we love when you hug trees absolutely they look so nice every tree
28:38
needs a hug every now and then okay I don't care what you like a human right we need hugs trees need hugs tooly and
28:44
so they would uh these tree Hoggers got wind that and once they found out that the Bears were being St not starved but
28:50
you know cut back in their normal intake which by the way bears are used to it
28:55
anyways cuz they can go weeks if not months with without consuming protein but regardless anyways there was a big
29:01
uproar and uh protests and all that stuff in front of polar bear jail and in
29:06
fact when we got there the day we got there there the the compound known as
29:13
Polar Bear jail was surrounded with folks who were up there protesting and had placards and signs and all that
29:21
stuff I love those protesters they hug their signs too and they have no real tree they just used the Stick of their
29:27
sign and they hug that so anyways um yeah uh that's just one tiny little
29:33
story from that shoot there were so many Adventures that happened in that period
29:38
of time that we were there that uh we'll we'll continue dialoguing on them as time cons VI but that's just one little
29:45
tidbit of polar bear jail in you eh look me you a polar bear expert I've been known I hugged a polar
29:52
bear would speaking of hugging remember we we had to airlift a couple of little cubs with m so cute man oh my God they
29:59
were so damn cute yeah Pete and I had the privilege of actually working with the polar bear Patrol unit um which is
30:07
basically like I don't know any other police enforcement agency they're
30:12
sitting around waiting for the for the call to come in and then they would dispatch uh their their trucks and
30:19
people and go out and take care of business we were fortunate enough to be riding in the back of one of those
30:24
Vehicles a couple of the nights um that that very cool and they tranquilize the
30:30
in the Cubs sense they tranquilize the mother they don't tranquilize the Cubs cuz they're docile and they'll just stay
30:36
with mom when she's sleeping or whatever like that and it's pretty amazing to see that you know Mom would go absolutely apeshit if you didn't tranquilizer and
30:42
try to get near the the Cubs but they tranquilize the mommy and they put you know it's all sleepy and then the little cubs are just looking cute as hell
30:49
looking at you and hey mister what are you doing here it was pretty yeah mom
30:54
sleeping can you leave us alone hey it was it was fantastic great episode you say that's on uh on YouTube
31:01
right now Dean that one's up there yep on the fishing Canada YouTube channel on fishing Canada YouTube channel they can
31:06
go there right now what do they just look up polar bears yeah it'll come up Y what do you mean it'll come up like it doesn't just come up it knows it'll
31:13
it'll find it for you oh my God all right that's a bunch of [ __ ] that is
31:19
a bunch of [ __ ] uh anyways uh that's uh great question or great Point great comment we will endeavor to uh do it on
31:26
a regular basis on the show yeah that'd be cool good stories what was your highlight from that shoot you
31:32
remember the Highlight from that shoot I mean the low light was a highlight
31:38
wasn't that one got killed right so I guess that's probably the but but just seeing these magnificent animals when
31:45
you're in that when were in those buses we went in those buses and just looking at them out there and they're and they're play fighting and wrestling
31:51
these thousand PB bears are play fighting with each other in the snow in the worst weather that we'd ever ever
31:58
encounter and they're out there having fun and they're just laying there hey and the mom and being a snow bank with
32:03
the two Cubs laying there and they're such a beautiful animal they really are a beautiful it's hard to believe that
32:09
they are so dangerous right it's hard to believe yeah they're badass as a tiger or a lion or anything like that you know
32:15
what I mean but they don't look it they don't look the part uh conservation
32:21
Corner am I correct here Dean I'm seeing the notes uh conservation Corner brought
32:26
to you by Asian carp do whatever they CA that's right uh is
32:32
this the last one of the grass carb well uhoh are you screwing things up now
32:38
you're a little bit ahead of you just did Pete Bowman you just where to go Pete yeah enlighten me Enlighten in the
32:45
future in the future we will be doing a different ad read oh somewhere in the future we'll be doing that yeah and we
32:50
we've recorded some of those so you're you're just a little bit ahead of yourself in the metime metime I would
32:57
like to inform folks it's Christmas the that they are um they can participate in
33:02
a wonderful Workshop that's happening uh in the wisor area of Ontario at the
33:08
Windsor Sportsman Club on the 28th of January coming up in a few weeks uh at 6
33:15
uh from 6:00 to 900 p.m. at the Windsor Sportsman's Club in Windsor and the good
33:20
folks will be there um from invasive species Center uh with uh all kinds of
33:27
interesting uh setups with q&as and demonstrating stuff and you can talk to
33:33
folks ask questions more importantly you can hear the scientists and the professionals talk about the need to be
33:40
vigilant when it comes to grass carp yeah they're they're they're given us they're warning us of a possible bad
33:46
thing in the future but we can we can help do our part right because it could be it could happen so and as well I
33:53
believe Dean we were talking about this earlier you might be able to watch this online as it's happening too so they had
33:58
a way you could check in online if you to wind wind's a long ways away for us GTA people so but oh we keep you posted
34:05
on that yeah we'll try and post something on our website maybe or something about the the actual links Etc
34:11
but then you'd miss out on the fun and and you can't win the
34:17
yeti the food and refreshments which are included uh to get in and then as Pete
34:22
said he uh yeah if you go you can actually win a Yeti 400 Buck backpack my
34:30
cooler value to 400 bucks yes value to $400 yeah you just don't like you don't like any foreplay do you like to just
34:37
get right to the point you know what I'm foreplay at this point in your life you figure like I mean there's a there's a
34:43
point when you're young there's no foreplay when you're Midway there you're look at me ladies hello there's foreplay
34:51
and then now it's just like okay let's get her done get her dead get her done cuz I would have dragged that out you
34:56
know that you could enjoy the complimentary food and refreshments all the wonderful Beverages and stuff that you could consume U for going down and
35:04
participating in this wonderful event on the 28th of January and as an added
35:10
bonus you could win a Yeti backpack cooler see Noti what I did there did you
35:18
notice what I did there I just kind of eased them in and they s and then all of a sudden wait a minute there's more
35:27
but no you want to throw the more in there up front and then try and sell might there might be a couple people
35:33
listening that have that that's a bunch of [ __ ] button there and they and they might just say shut up give let's
35:38
get on with this show whether you're a season egler just starting out uh and passionate about protecting Canadian
35:45
great lakes and other wild places uh you need to make yourself aware of what's
35:50
going on and that's the perfect place to do it Mark the calendar January 28th of 2025 coming up couple of weeks
35:58
uh 6: to 9:00 p.m. Windsor Sportsman Club be there and Dean I understand you
36:03
will be there is that correct I'll be there yeah you can come meet me if you want oh perfect and who would not want
36:08
right now looking at you with that wonderful outfit you have on how did you
36:13
escape uh wearing the full monty B I haven't got mine yet I've been here a while now I haven't got mine all right
36:19
yeah I think maybe our wardrobe Department could take note of that and we'll load up at least Dean Nick we
36:24
don't have to cuz he's rarely here we'll get him half a jacket and then vaa Wella doesn't like to be on
36:30
camera right that's going to change in the new year yeah this time next year that's right all over camera any we give
36:37
us a hell yeah give me a hell yeah yeah there you go in the news uh scientists
36:44
find a 35,000 check it check it check it that's the state it was in when they found it
36:50
wow it's crazy 35,000 year-old Sabertooth kitten in the Siberian
36:57
permafr FR Mr B it's insane mhm the researchers found the mummy of the
37:02
35,000 year old Sabertooth cub in what is now Russia's Northeastern saaka Saka
37:09
Republic saaka Republic known as the Yuka Yak you've been
37:15
studying would understand all these words pretty sure he would a study published last in this past week in the
37:21
journal a scientific report shows that the cat was just 3 weeks old when it died this little guy here 3 weeks old
37:27
kitten saber-tooth tiger right I'm assuming is it a saber-tooth tiger or sa yeah there's no such thing as a
37:32
saber-tooth lion or is there maybe there was I don't know there is a lion that looks like a sabertooth tiger by the way
37:37
the cause of death was unknown they can't figure out there also a wolf that looks like a saber-tooth all the animals
37:42
back then cool to be what ice and freezing can do you know
37:48
what I mean like look at that Norm did I tell you I ate the other night saber-tooth kitten a chunk of meat meat
37:56
that I froze at least 6 years ago Siberian what do
38:01
you got call Siberian cat and I ate it I consumed it the other night you did tell me about this dry and it was no it's
38:08
good Dean it was the most succulent now it was great quality going in so
38:13
obviously if you start with good quality meat it was so good but just talking about you know how how you can preserve
38:20
things for in this case 35,000 years I preserved a chunk of meat for 6 years I
38:26
ate a turkey breast out of mine that was like half a turkey breast that was like four years old and it was the driest
38:32
thing I've ever eaten oh well you didn't do a very good job good job my it's your it's all in your vacuum ceiling and
38:38
vacuum packing right that has to be so airtight perfectly airtight sealed perfect and then and yeah then you can
38:44
go cuz you have moisture sometimes when you're doing this vac sealing and all that stuff you got to if you do a great job of vac sealing which you did on that
38:50
one obviously otherwise I wish I could take credit for it but uh the good people my good friend Sean Kelly he did
38:57
the job did the uh the the VAC ceiling a professional machine does that cuz the
39:04
these the ones we buy nowadays are good but they're not like that so wow I haven't talked to Sean for a while we've
39:09
been trying to you told me that you were trying to get them the other day or something I still I've said back and he sends back we just don't connect wow
39:16
yeah we're destined to be two ships in the night beautiful wow pirate
39:21
ships Sean's case it'd be a pirate ship for sure sure Davy Jones he'd be a Davy Jones for sure interesting so this story
39:29
is on fishing canada.com yeah all right we had some poaching stories and stuff but I thought we'd keep the mood up for
39:35
this that poaching story we got we have to talk about that poaching story at sometime though in the future because
39:41
that is a n that's a weird one a know that one is like whoa is that on our site now or no uh next time we record
39:48
we're going to talk about that so wait you got we got to tune in for this one folks because it's going to blow your mind as the you want to talk about weird
39:55
poaching stories woo so just to finish this up if you go there you'll read all about but anyways
40:01
Sabertooth uh sabertooths have been known to actually
40:06
they have been confirmed to have lived in parts of Canada Alberta come on now
40:12
where was it that we did an outdoor Journal episode in western Canada and
40:18
it's the hub for drum drum thank you very much WoW Dino it's the the hub for
40:26
North I think North American uh uh paleontologists they all dream of one
40:32
day working there and going there well we spent I think a week or so there digging around messing around is that
40:38
the place where we walked up the mountain um up a mountain it was at Alberta Frank
40:46
slide that's where it was Frank that wasn't the same area no no actually Saskatchewan is it not de no it's
40:53
Alberta Alberta Alberta all right all right they have the the hudo there whatever too what's that what's the uh
40:59
in Alberta um maybe it's drum I'm not sure they have those formations made in the sand whatever they are whatever
41:06
they're called hoodoo I probably way off with they also have a buffalo jumping off cliff there or something it's called
41:11
Buffalo Jump or something where yeah they used to Buffalo yeah no no well
41:16
they were being forced to jump on but similar to very similar to the L 12200 lb
41:23
leming anyways it's all there we're just making fun of this but it's a wonderful
41:28
story uh about uh radiocarbon dating of uh 35,000 years that's pretty good
41:34
pretty good all right now the main uh section of the show brought to you by
41:39
sale sale uh sale is your home to all things outdoors especially ice fishing
41:46
folks ice fishing ice fishing including rods reels
41:51
tackle uh outerwear Footwear clothing listen there's there you can have as
41:58
good a Time fishing on hard water as you can on Open Water all you have to do is
42:03
just be prepared for I know in your case a better time although I don't understand that but anyway Doo is a bit of a psycho you just need to be well
42:11
prepared and you know what I will say that it is really Advanced since you and I were young Lads doing it I mean there
42:17
back in the day twig you tie it to your line to a twig uh nowadays the rods like
42:24
the rods it's incredible the array of uh ice fishing rods and for different you know walleye rods even the section of
42:30
different size walleye rods then you got Lake Trad you it's it's insane so it's a it's neat to go into an ice fishing
42:36
section you know in sale and just say just to see and absorb what they have there for that for the modern day angler
42:43
so uh if you don't have a s store in your neighborhood uh you can still access access them uh that's Sale s
42:51
a.ca sale.ca go in there and check it all out
42:56
uh you can even get the discounts that are featured in the stores you can get them online as well up to 60% off on some items a lot of the
43:04
items by the way are not available in store you have to do them online oh yeah there some online only a lot of that I
43:11
found that uh recently I found something that was not available in this and and
43:17
and and I'm wondering why would that be why would you not make them available they probably don't have them there
43:22
right they have them in a warehouse in warehouse and want they want to send them to the store maybe for some reason I don't know why wouldn't you think that
43:28
that would be kind of might be easier just to load her in a truck once and get her to the vers versus load in the truck
43:34
there and then I don't know I don't know man I I see I believe in my heart of hearts if if it's not available in the
43:42
store you shouldn't be able to buy it wow that's well I'll tell you why I'll tell you why Barkley in well I'll tell
43:48
you why I say that because then it's an unfair advantage to to folks um who shop
43:55
online versus people who don't shop online like why are you punishing people
44:00
who don't shop online but not making it available to them maybe it's a very limited amount or very size Orient like
44:06
we only have Tri XX left over and they don't go in this they don't sell very well in the stores so we I'm talking
44:12
about you know pasta corn pasta okay that one went pasta me like
44:19
that I'm talking about corn pasta not being available at a store that is selling them online only
44:27
I do not understand that I'm very upset I'm upset it's a huge store really I'm
44:33
very upset is it an independent type of store oh nothing independent about it oh okay I am very upset at them right now
44:40
to the point where I may boycott them I doubt very much I know I know you
44:46
and the way you shop and that and and you're not boycotting I'm because of that you're you might find elsewhere to
44:53
buy your corn pasta but I'll tell you one I'm not boycotting I'm not boycotting sale because they got the
44:59
goods they maybe they'll sell that pasta for you well I'm going to going to call my buddy maybe those little packs you know those little heater packs you get
45:05
those little uh they got great to have you seen some of their selection yeah it's good if you've never tried tasting
45:11
no we if you've never tried uh dehydrated freeze-dried uh all of the
45:16
different types of uh foods that are prepared for uh Outback Adventures where
45:23
you cannot bring in size and weight some of the meal that are available now
45:28
versus the days when you and I were doing that stuff holy oh they were nasty back in the day oh right they weren't
45:34
good they were used for emergency only let's put it that way if you couldn't catch fish bring out the uh hydrated
45:41
stuff but now they're actual gourmet meals that you you re rehydrate ones
45:47
we've tried they're not bad at all exactly anyways all available at sale.ca uh your One-Stop shop for all
45:54
good things outdoors at sale . CA come on now okay all righty then let's get
46:01
into the meat and potatoes see the way I threw that food rehydrate meat and
46:07
potatoes let's get into the meat and potatoes of today's show Mr Bowman I like it first question this is the Q&A
46:14
these are a bunch of questions that have uh you the great listeners of the Outdoor Journal Radio podcast appreciate
46:21
have sent forward to us and we decided to do a little uh Q&A here so we're
46:26
going to go to our first first question from Nick Trion Nick is a big fan Nick is a fan of the show of the shows so all
46:34
of our Network and the fishing Canada show and I know Nick is a fan of uh how do you know all this a fan of musky as
46:40
well because Nick's very active he's he went out with Jamie ptil yeah he did oh
46:45
wow a couple of times Nick and his wife they went out her girlfriend I'm not sure went out they've got musky almost
46:51
every time more than once maybe you shouldn't said anything D have you ever think of that no no they're pretty
46:56
they're pretty those two you know what I mean nickel forgive me if something happened I hope not because she's she's
47:01
a sweetheart too so but they're musky addicts too they love and they're hardcore they go out there in that [ __ ]
47:07
weather that we try try to avoid for musky uh next question with the Liv
47:12
scope slf front forward facing sonar technology breaking new ground in the fishing industry what piece of equipment
47:19
was groundbreaking in the film industry back in the day wow good one who that's
47:25
a good question so the first real
47:30
groundbreaking piece of equipment that I recall that we we had to get into was
47:39
something called beta Cam and oh wow yeah I see I was thinking a little later
47:45
than that too but you're right but the very first one was beta Cam and beta cam what the beauty of beta cam was wol is
47:51
laughing at us right now I guar I know he know he's just a young Puck he's still he's still wet behind ears I don't
47:57
know anyways um beta cam was the transition that allowed us to go from 1
48:04
in and or 3/4 inch tape so literally it was that thi literally that's how thick
48:11
the tape was and it was in a cassette this big ass cassette you had to have in
48:17
the field Bunches of them and and and you bring a box or two out in the field which was like heavy duty this big so
48:25
this was the first time that we really got into compact ultra light uh gear
48:31
because from that day forward we were dealing with little cassettes that were like this big and a half inch thick so
48:40
about 50% smaller and lighter than what we were used to but the real up um tick
48:47
on using beta cam at that point was the quality yeah the resolution quality is so much oh my God it was
48:54
breathtaking compared to today looks like somebody was it was absolute crap
49:00
but at the time it was fantastic and be like HD compared to 4 8K right now 4K 6K
49:07
something like that and the fact that it was a compact in that you had
49:12
camera and recorder and battery for said camera recorder all in one nice tidy
49:18
little package that weighed around 50 lbs complete
49:25
so that was a down uh we really lost a lot of weight in uh in the equipment that we had well that 34 in they had a a
49:32
pack for the remember the 150 with the cable looked like a CRA and then you had
49:39
the bow the Anton Bower battery God those things were heavy as hell a poor
49:44
camera like Toto he was he had a workout every time he shot with us yeah it was
49:50
unbelievable so that was really the first breakthrough obviously the lenses glass and then it kept going like that's
49:55
it's a it's still progressing to this day cuz we went from beta Camp to DVC Pro yeah DVC Pro which is a tiny tape
50:01
little we tape like it was such a and the quality wasn't a whole lot it was
50:08
better probably but not a whole lot the big buzz there was that we now this was a
50:13
hybrid digital front to an analog back and they were able to downsize the
50:20
package and as Pete said now the media uh itself the tape was was of the size
50:27
May of the size so that that enable us to get more uh inventory out in the field we could shoot more we could shoot
50:33
longer it was lighter you could pack it up and the fact that we were now in the digital world was a huge thing right so
50:41
still tape but yeah we went from uh the
50:46
3/4 in and 1in cameras and lenses that were like this big to Beta Cam that was
50:52
like this big to DBC Pro that was now like this big and then the next Evolution was full flaton digital yeah
51:00
uh which was half the size of the DBC prob I mean now now vaa is out shooting
51:06
with us and it's basically a DSLR camera so look if you look at the guys that take pictures with the nice cameras
51:12
that's what he's shooting our great video with some that's the size of that basically so um it's insane how so B
51:19
when you say that you've had a long hard day in the field holding a camera he doesn't even hold him he puts them on
51:24
Fishfinder mouse.com things exact fishfighter mounts.com holds a camera viva viva vaa supervises the
51:33
process okay that's a bunch of [ __ ] right boa a bunch of [ __ ] boa does his job
51:39
he does a good job that's just one of the items it's probably the most important item obviously underwater
51:45
photography started opening up a little bit then immediately after that the
51:51
drones became popular and here we are today so very quickly we'll shoot like
51:56
vaa shoot a lot of times maybe all the time now in 4k so when you hear this 4K and you know your TV is not in 4k and
52:02
why we're not Distributing it in 4k why are you doing that well 4K resolution is so good that now that vulva can take a
52:09
section any section of that uh base video and crop in a little little piece
52:16
you know that fits the TV size he takes like a quarter of that 4K and he still looks perfect right so it's you can uh
52:22
you can do so much of the stuff nowadays the resolution is insane a guy in the production world in the film production
52:29
World once told me in a in a way that I fully understood this whole thing
52:34
because I you say well why it back time it wasn't 4K it was 2K I was talking about you know I said why are we you
52:41
know shooting 2K when the broadcasters are still at you know basically 480 that
52:47
they were pumping out and he says Angelo here let me see if I can simplify it if
52:53
you took two different uh quality of Oats oats oats and you fed them to a
53:02
horse and then you analyze what came out of the other end of the horse which of
53:08
the oats do you think would be yielding better product the crappy oats no pun
53:14
intended or the good quality oats then I understood it wow I understood it what
53:20
goes in the level of quality that goes in is directly proportioned to the level of quality that comes out we need a new
53:26
white that's a bunch of hor [ __ ] that's a bunch of [ __ ] that's the way I fully understood that that's good who
53:33
did that to you who told you that I got uh his first name was Jeff oh so I
53:38
wouldn't know OB no he was with uh CTV okay slash
53:45
TSN Okay yeah very good uh next question is from
53:52
Darren Alexia Alexia via Facebook Alex yeah
53:58
sorry about that Darren if we get that wrong no I think I did a good job on that one he Dean what did you say Alexia
54:03
that seems right oh look at now now he's waking up now what is it B is it good Alex o l e k how does that first
54:13
part I think I think he's gotex very close I think that's good
54:19
enough I think D have no problem with you just saying his name like that uh Darren uh wants to know he says uh Pete
54:26
and Survival Story oh he wants Survival Story uh it's a steamy hot July in the
54:33
Canadian wilderness okay this is steamy hot steamy hot no connection to what I said about the oats been there done that
54:39
steamy hot July in Canadian wilderness plagued by Misfortune and poor decisions
54:45
oh Pete's there there'll be poor decisions don't trust me on that one Edge are stranded on an isolated
54:50
Northern Island surrounded by endless fresh water mosquitoes and H that sounds
54:57
like Quant Lake okay hey was that qu Lake close all right we had Steve they
55:02
are bruised and banged up but not beaten uh they must fish to survive however
55:09
only have one lure each which lure and rodetta would they want to have now so
55:17
our life depends on it now this is not sport fishing anymore this is sustenance
55:22
fishing so Darren wants to know if we were fishing for our
55:27
lives wow what and Rod set up that's a good one would we want now I'm assuming
55:34
that everything is on the table right we can we can select whatever we absolutely
55:41
want yeah and we don't know I mean we're talking Canadian North so there could be wall could be Pike could be Smallmouth
55:48
could be whatever in there let's let's assume that it's all of the above in terms of species mhm holy [ __ ] that's a
55:56
great question so here's I I I know I know I
56:03
know I know I don't want to go down this road because well I just don't like it but I'm going to have to go down this
56:08
road cuz I want to be as honest as to DAR roughing it right there that doesn't look like we're roughing much those boys
56:15
haven't missed too many meals on that looks like we're having a bit of a tiff is what it looks like to me yeah I don't want to talk to you anymore piss
56:23
off well I mean at the end of the day let's be very very honest if we're fishing for sustenance and not for
56:31
sport and my life would depend on me being able to get a fish into the frying
56:38
pan I got to go with a a dropshot and uh and uh a chunk of something on it that
56:45
that that is that is real I mean I know I know I know but but if it gets pulled
56:51
off then you're going to have to go find more bait well no but I I that's why I said everything's on on the table and
56:57
I've got an endless supply of live bait okay endless supply of live bait and the
57:03
only thing I want to do is catch fish for the frying
57:08
pan if I have to be honest because it's the last thing I would use if I wasn't confronted with
57:15
those circumstances but if I'm confronted with those circumstances yeah a drop shot
57:21
only because it's the uh most effective way to get a hook into a fish cuz you're
57:28
you're setting straight up and there's no no misunderstanding the hook set that's out 100 feet or 50 ft away from
57:34
the boat right so I'm dropping it straight down I got a chunk of something on it and I could probably see with that
57:41
hookup I could probably Forge for my own bait whether it be worms bugs uh minnows
57:48
I could probably trap minnows right so really when it comes right down to it uh
57:54
a little drop shot hook a little drop shot weight on um a rig that would
58:00
handle that so a spinning rig 7ot spinning rig with with relatively light line cuz I'm not looking to catch a
58:06
trophy fish here I'm looking to eat every day so six PB maybe 8 PB test line
58:13
uh fluorocarbon preferably and uh that's it and I'm in business I'm going to feed
58:19
myself for as long as I need to ah see I'm going to go literal to him
58:25
cuz he said which lure oh okay I'm not okay now you're you're cheating you're cheating no I'm not cheating I'm you
58:31
cheated with the live bait [ __ ] there's a bunch of [ __ ] by the way by the way U Darren I'm going to
58:38
have a drop shot set up too because I'm going to build a spear and I'm going to kill an right off the Hop and he's going to be gone so I don't have to worry
58:44
about him anymore so now I got two rods in re I got an's rod and reel and you're going to die um I got to I'm so I'm torn
58:53
between two I'm torn between a tiny little CR bait mhm or a or an inline
58:58
spinner a number two spinner and and I I I say that
59:04
only my lure is attached to a wire leader too by the way cuz if I lose that
59:09
lure I'm dead so I have to have a leader ah so I can't break it off right so I have my lure tied to that leader and the
59:16
the rod set up I don't care it'll be a it' be a spinning rod 6 foot to 7 foot doesn't matter to me uh that way I'd
59:22
have a line a braided line and a steel leader to my little spinner or crankbait
59:29
and if I had to choose one of those two that's the toughest one of them all
59:34
I'm going to have to say the spinner although I hate to say the spinner because I love fishing crankbaits but I'll say this little number
59:40
two silver spinner okay in line all right well I
59:47
mean uh we could do something here if if so inclined we could put this to the
59:52
ultimate test on the upcoming season ahead I'm not going against Li bait with a spinner oh well you just said you
59:59
would I got Li bait I killed you oh that's what I'm saying I got the stuff I got I want to clarify I just want to
1:00:06
clarify that and I and I I did already but I just want to say this is a matter of life or death I have to survive for I
1:00:13
don't know three months there's a Survivor right there yeah he knows lunch when it's lunchtime Joe survives because
1:00:18
it doesn't matter whether it's 30 seconds you can throw a drop shot it doesn't matter what he's doing he's out
1:00:24
of here okay the only one of the bunch who will survive except when uh Darren
1:00:30
and his friends come in the apocalypse and the The Walking Dead people come
1:00:37
then Joel won't survive Joe won't survive then no he won't last that one at all but he'll still get up and go to
1:00:43
lunch five minutes before it's time so ah you might as well have a lunch you're going to go down and with a
1:00:49
fight saying though I just want to emphasize this if my life depends on it
1:00:56
mhm and I don't want to take any chances because artificial baits work extremely
1:01:01
well as you know we've made a career of it so I don't want to make it sound like
1:01:07
I'm not a believer I'm a huge believer but you put the survival part into this question I have
1:01:14
to survive yeah I got to go with a little drop shot and and and and even if I
1:01:21
don't have live bait as part of my kit I will get my own live bait I'll Forge
1:01:26
around every day and I will dig up enough enough worms I'll dig up enough
1:01:31
June bugs I'll dig up enough whatever you got one drop shot hook though no no I got a box of them no he said one lure
1:01:38
each I got one spinner you get one you get one I get one hook and one I think
1:01:43
so if you gives us an endless amount then that's even better then I don't give a [ __ ] about my leader then I'll get rid of the leader but if it would be
1:01:50
like give me 3,000 Spinners May I'm thinking what do you braided line and steel leader and [ __ ] you want to catch
1:01:56
some those little that's the only reason cuz if I had one spinner if I was only allowed one I want to keep that spinner cuz the Pike's going to be taking it
1:02:02
gone first shot you know what I mean that little spinner but if it's not if he's uh if I have an in a supply no no
1:02:09
hell no that's gone that's a whole different story so all right but hopefully we've answered your question I
1:02:15
was I wanted to say jig but I'd lose the jig on the bottom I'd be pissed off I say ah [ __ ] I got one jig gone the first
1:02:21
between the Rocks I'm done so I didn't say The Jig that that's why I want a drop shot as oppos to jigs I want to have a chance and by the way I could
1:02:27
probably rig up I'm thinking about this the most important element for me would have been that hook so I do need a box
1:02:34
of hooks oh yeah but as far as the weight the sinkers go I could probably probably figure out make something
1:02:41
something natural to tie on you know rocks and stuff so there you go
1:02:47
hopefully Darren uh we got and I don't even need a rod now that I think of it if I can sacrifice the rod for for a box
1:02:54
of hooks I'm probably happy with that see there absolutely with a rock if
1:03:02
I tie a rock I could flick that baby out there no problemo uh there we go Robbie G guo via
1:03:11
Facebook Robbie g go row via Facebook Mr Bowman two-parter it looks like to me a
1:03:17
two-parter Ab now they allowed de I allowed it for him I allowed it for Robbie okay all right okay A Part A from
1:03:24
Robbie Robbie G guo by the way I get it most people won't watch an ice fishing
1:03:30
show on a rerun in August yep however We crave the ice content put it on YouTube
1:03:37
do a podcast with Jay in the ice tent or one of those fancy trailers he uses just
1:03:43
please say you'll get out and give us some ice content okay thank you Robbie
1:03:48
for that and be part of that the good and honorable Joseph Melly doesn't ship
1:03:54
his merch to Canada hello Joe come on now what there a bunch of [ __ ] get
1:03:59
get him on the phone and strike a deal I cut and rettie tea
1:04:05
and t-shirt right and a fishing Canada tea in one
1:04:10
shop one overpriced shipping cost and one overpriced shipping cost I know
1:04:15
that's not on you guys bring our countries together do snakehe heads and
1:04:21
walleye t-shirts and is snake heads in walleye oh hard time reading I don't
1:04:26
edit these anymore cuz you guys said you want to see them raw do snakehe heads versus walleye and the shirts and then
1:04:32
Walley versus snakeheads so either one I'm assuming that he wants to fishing Canada one way and the picture of his
1:04:37
merch is behind you I think we could do a cool collab oh yeah damn I like that bow fin yeah is that a bow fin I think
1:04:44
so y that looks pretty cool we could do a cool a cool collab maybe we'll talk to Joe about that's a good that's a good
1:04:51
that's not a question but it's a good uh make a note Dean a good uh Point thanks
1:04:56
The Honorable Nikolai me hell yeah is in the room certainly hope we're not
1:05:02
disturbing your peace and quiet on us got a new haircut and a pack of smokes look at that and some seagars W kba you
1:05:11
know we you know where his priorities are for tonight I kind of like that guy's attitude right now to be honest
1:05:16
with you oh here we go um Alan valeris I
1:05:22
don't think we answered that question oh we didn't answer it was not a question said we're going to do it we're going to
1:05:27
try and collab with ice fishing part oh the ice fishing I was avoiding that one but all possible I know what we're
1:05:35
GNA do I know what we're gonna do Dean's a new guy right well I know what we're going to do we're GNA send vva
1:05:41
out um to uh let's nipping start start calendar starter
1:05:48
point for in about uh I don't know another couple of weeks when it's good hard frozen over and we've got likeus
1:05:54
28° mhm I think we're going to send him out with the camera and document some of that wonderful ice fishing go around to
1:06:01
different calendar Bay has so many Bungalows and stuff like that ice bu and uh we're going to have him go and knock
1:06:09
on the doors of the huts and say hey uh Angelo and Peter are in the studio
1:06:15
watching this right now say hi to them and so we'll have all these guys say hey Angie Pete how you doing we see yes and
1:06:22
we and you put it all together like a collage Roba and then I want you to put it up on YouTube all right see he's okay
1:06:29
that might not be bad I know I bead idea I think it's a great idea Dean gets the worst if you want to go with him on that
1:06:35
you can de go love it go steal everybody's walleye right from under their holes there
1:06:41
exactly all right there you go Robbie obviously that might not happen Robbie
1:06:47
la well you go then I don't know hey have you seen those trailers they're using lately oh ones they drop down it's
1:06:52
unreal they're they're freaking I could do beautiful I could enjoy that yeah you
1:06:58
can if you can hook me up with one of those I'm in I'll hook you up with one of those that's no problem all right I'm
1:07:03
in no problem in fact we should do that when we send these two guys out walking
1:07:09
across you and I will have Drive beautiful trailers are out in Winnipeg
1:07:14
there Lake Winnipeg big old eyeballs yeah uh elain Ela elain Valas via
1:07:23
Facebook now we met apparently we met El at Lodge 88 yeah he and his wife were at
1:07:28
Lodge 88 I remember that you do yes this this past trip yes they were sitting at
1:07:34
the table two couples exactly which C which was
1:07:40
La watch this this is where I good politically speaking the goodlook
1:07:45
couple oh you shouldn't have said the couple you should have just said the good-look guy cuz now you slagged his
1:07:51
wife the other wife the other wife hopefully they're not
1:07:56
listening hopefully it's I found them both very ravishingly beautiful oh my God if I can remember oh yeah I know why
1:08:02
CU they said they said they guessed your age at 40 or something it I remember
1:08:07
that now is that that's the group okay I love I love you buddy uh elen says this
1:08:15
is for both of you so it must be answered separately and in truth no
1:08:20
[ __ ] there's a bunch of [ __ ] LOL I love it he's a listening
1:08:26
if you had one very last trip to make uh before you were too old I don't know when that's of course he's only 40 so it
1:08:33
could be forever that might that might last I'm going to be like that that hairy Mammoth thing there Sabertooth
1:08:38
monkey where would you go back and why El wants to know where would you go back and why we've been there before but it
1:08:45
must be a for here's now this was a great question up until there cuz then
1:08:50
he goes on and says but it must be affordable to the average fisherman a trip that was your most memorable uh in
1:08:58
this country only fly in train in or drive to it doesn't matter so the
1:09:04
problem I have is there's too many variables there first of all what is Affordable to the average fisherman do
1:09:10
we have a benchmark is there an affordability meter that we can well I think I mean if you if you looked at
1:09:18
let's just take a couple of lodges here like Northern Rocky's Lodge I don't think that's affordable to the average
1:09:23
fisherman what is AFF exotic trip it's expensive and it's built to be that way
1:09:29
right it's just a worldclass trip that's expensive so you got Lake Hawk lake is
1:09:35
obviously off the table yeah that's not really affordable either even uh uh Bray band that's that's pretty expensive
1:09:42
Lodge we met uh alen and his wife at Lodge 88 so I'm just wondering is Lodge
1:09:48
88 in the affordability sector of let's say that's let's would you say so I'd
1:09:54
say that'd be a good for me no but the I agree with Dean I mean if I'm looking at
1:10:00
affordability to me like you got a $200 a day limit okay right so let's then we
1:10:07
got a oh my God this is $200 a day limit which
1:10:13
which which uh quite frankly you know unfortunately and I and I mean this with
1:10:19
all due respect to Lodge owners out there for like $200 a day there's not
1:10:25
much much they can do with that okay you can't be too proud of that you can't work with that you cannot give the
1:10:32
comfort and amenities and all of the wonderful food and the wonderful new
1:10:38
boats that are always pristine with the outboard motor that runs all the time
1:10:43
with you know you you just can't like you have to sacrifice something
1:10:49
but would would Pine Portage be in that they're probably in that3 to $400 a day
1:10:56
really yeah and and why wouldn't they be with the food that they put up in that Buffet every day I I'm thinking of the
1:11:02
of the lake KB lake is it's a it's a producer KB's got a bunch of other A's KB cabins they probably not they're not
1:11:09
full uh they're all inclusive they other than other than a Flyin part because you
1:11:14
had to add that to the trip cost well he he knows that if you say fly in there
1:11:20
that's that's bringing the whole package up right compared to a drive two that get you have to so I don't know I'm
1:11:28
going to here here's what I'm going to do I'm going I'm going to before I let you take this and answer it your way
1:11:33
here's what I'm going to say I would feel comfortable if we were using Lodge
1:11:39
88 as our base and say that it is afford because you don't have to fly into Lodge
1:11:44
88 you can train in y right there's a wonderful train opportunity which is like super cheap that drops the price
1:11:51
down for sure I would say that my comfort zone for the average
1:11:57
person no it's a Once you're not going to do it every every year it's once every three or four years OB say here
1:12:03
though too like the question is about if you were too old and this was going to be your last one basically so you're not
1:12:09
really thinking affordability at that point no you're makes it throws a real wrench into that question doesn't it
1:12:14
yeah there's so many variables here live 88 would be my my my place that I've always felt comfortable sending folks to
1:12:23
Dave mlock Dave mlock onario that that own and run that place I've always felt comfortable sending people there because
1:12:30
it truly is a wonderful experience like you would have to work so
1:12:36
hard at not having a wonderful experience at Lodge 88 that I feel comfortable see here's my problem when I
1:12:42
recommend places to people I know I I take that responsibility very
1:12:48
serious because I know that these folks are counting on our experiences to lead
1:12:53
them to the right place right and at Lodge 88 I know that I can send people
1:12:59
there anytime and I know they're going to write back to us and say guys I just
1:13:06
came back and it was everything that you said it was going to be and then some the fishing was outstanding I caught my
1:13:11
biggest I've never seen a 10 pound walleye or a huge bike and I went into Rock Lake and the speckled Road fishing
1:13:18
was like like like all I know it's going to happen mhm right yeah it's a little
1:13:23
bit more expensive than the average PL our land knows how much it is well yeah
1:13:28
exactly if if he's saying that that's the place that's the Benchmark then you're hard pressed to to find that
1:13:37
experience at that price in a whole lot of other areas even though there are
1:13:43
some great operations out there some great places uh finding that kind of
1:13:50
consistency at that price is pretty hard oh I have to be
1:13:56
honest yeah 100% for sure I I don't even know where I another one that's one that
1:14:01
comes to mind one that comes to mind and I'm thinking more of the
1:14:07
fishing I like brace brace Lake too brace Lake Outfitters I like them I like the big Pike that are available right in
1:14:13
front of the lodge I do like that and I I've always wanted to go back to that main Lodge main Lake area and
1:14:20
just not even think about Walley just concentrate on those big Pike cuz I think if you got onto that deal with
1:14:25
your Liv scope etc etc I think you'd have a a hell of a good trip so I mean
1:14:31
this Alan this is a question that an and I literally have to look at every Lodge that we've been to and say cuz we're
1:14:36
forgetting stuff I guarantee you we're forgetting all kinds of trips that remember the fishing there was incredible for the price so um so those
1:14:43
would be two off the cuff places maybe something like that but uh yeah it's a tough question now if you said the sky
1:14:50
the limit then I would say either Bray bent or Rocky's Lodge be right side and
1:14:57
something else we take into account here too is you know if a lodge is is
1:15:04
um hits all of the right marks in terms of affordability and Creature Comforts
1:15:10
and food we also take into account the fishability of the water what I mean by that is it's inevitable it's inevitable
1:15:18
you waited all your life to go on a trip and you get there and the weather is just crap the winds blowing from the
1:15:25
Northeast the whole time you're there and it just makes it unfishable
1:15:31
that's part of the decision-making process that we go through when we're
1:15:36
recommending places lakes that afford you the opportunity to be fishable every
1:15:42
day because of the geography and because of where the fish are and I I'll go back
1:15:49
to Lodge 88 once again for the most part I can't even imagine how bad it would
1:15:55
have to be not to be able to find fishable water get out on the Sagi it to be coming right down that shoot and even
1:16:01
then you just take it up go up a little bit north exactly so there's always
1:16:06
fishable water right there MH the another one I I said that Bray band and
1:16:12
Northern Rocky Lodge for the sky's a limit one that's a little closer to us right here and an already mentioned it
1:16:18
is Hawk lake lodge because because of just what he said there you can get out anywhere that lake is not a big lake
1:16:24
it's nice size Lake and and Ted's got a ton of out lakes that you can go to if there's if the lake was too rough so but
1:16:29
that's sky's the limit those are expensive same as Will's Place yeah right that's the other thing about
1:16:34
that's a great trip right there see what I mean we're starting to just we're just going boom boom we could we we got a
1:16:40
thousand of those we could probably think of because it's fishable in the sense that if the wind is blowing coming
1:16:46
down the Chute and you can't get out on the main Lake you just Trail your boat someplace else and you'll you'll catch
1:16:52
fish so so places like that uh come to mind I mean it's areas
1:17:00
ala or Northwest Ontario you got I mean anything if you take it an area those are two fantastic areas that you can't
1:17:07
really go wrong in you could find something that you're looking for in those two areas just that par down to what you want then but out of out of out
1:17:14
of 1 to 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 yes yes
1:17:23
yes no I can't do that to you not going to do that I take that back I appreciate
1:17:28
I take that back throw me under the bus there I kind of feel I was almost temped that what was that big bust that we saw
1:17:34
with the polar bear under the tire I know how easy it is to push you at the door under
1:17:40
the no I won't do that no parachute for py no there's there's lots of places we
1:17:45
just we're using those because they just come to mine and we've been at them recently and and uh it's easier for us
1:17:52
to do that than try and dig into this old old Archive of places we've been to
1:17:57
so many wonderful places so many wonderful places um next question Wendy horn via
1:18:04
Facebook that's a Facebook questions coming in E why doesn't anyone want a
1:18:10
real relationship anymore well Wendy what the hell is that
1:18:15
Wendy I have to tell you ah Wendy Wendy she say where no just Wendy horn
1:18:21
Facebook is that a real question Dean like yeah we had a post that said that they didn't have to ask you anything
1:18:26
about the show or about fishing they said we you can ask angent Pete anything
1:18:31
this like first of all I I I I'm curious you know because she puts
1:18:37
anym meaning that at some point somebody people did want a real relationship so
1:18:44
this is in her opinion this is something like recent you guys are both married yes happily for many years the count of
1:18:51
Santa stes and I have been uh I think she's right I mean I think because cuz
1:18:58
back in back in the day back in our day was we're not young that's for sure it was about real relationships really it
1:19:03
was about you know you're trying to find that long Las an that's an AI relationship I I got I was going to say
1:19:09
I'd go out with either of those I don't care they're both fake hands some [ __ ]
1:19:15
there why lot of real relationship that's you mean you're the wrong guys to ask that because we don't know but I'll
1:19:22
tell you what we have some young single dudes here around us that we could probably Dean
1:19:27
has a microphone right now is is there anything to this that you could uh you could say not for this show what state
1:19:33
ye no no you can get a hold of me after hours I'll talk to you about relationship okay Dean Dean's an after
1:19:38
hours guy he's kind of like Dr Ruth or whatever that yeah he does private private sessions only yeah and Wendy
1:19:45
horn thank you very much we do appreciate sorry about that Wendy we can't uh we'll give you Dean's personal uh info you can give him a shot write to
1:19:52
Dr Dean he'll straighten you out or Dr V would probably be some assistance in that area and Dr Nick too
1:20:01
if Nick was here he probably take a shot at it oh he'd take a shot at it for sure not much he won't take a shot at
1:20:06
[Music] it here you go Wendy give Nick a call oh
1:20:12
God Mike mcclarney from Michigan hey our Southern neighbors via email there you
1:20:18
go email uh Mike mcclarney do you like lithium batteries enough to justify by
1:20:24
the cost and and that's a really good question W fantastic fantastic question the only uh I do have to say they are
1:20:31
getting lower and lower they're getting more and more affordable but Pete and I
1:20:37
were just talking about lithium batteries the other day because we've got a new boat one one of our new boats
1:20:42
is going uh that's sold and another one's coming in so we're trying to go over what we're going to do for the new
1:20:48
one and in terms of batteries and stuff and when it came to batteries we both
1:20:53
said yeah we got to have lithium in that one as well because um and we haven't
1:21:00
used I I think we've had lithiums on our boats now for the last I'd say five years yeah I'd say so for sure and they
1:21:06
are just you put them in you can lock up the compartment and just not worry about it
1:21:15
they are that good and the biggest reason we put them in to start with was their weight the weight
1:21:22
Factor so a lot of people don't take into count that weight and it's not about speed it's about performance and
1:21:28
performance and speed are not necessarily the same thing but if you lighten the load on your boat
1:21:36
I know some of you out there that have got four and five acid based or lead
1:21:41
based batteries in your boat and each one of them has got to away close to 60
1:21:47
no 50 to 60 lb now to 60 lb for for good one you know heavy duty 27s 50 to 60 lb
1:21:53
let's call it 50 and you have six of them in the boat which some people do
1:22:00
wow that's 300 lb that's like a person and a half to start with before you put
1:22:05
any other weight in the boat MH MH so by jettison that weight uh the performance of the hull is
1:22:12
going to increase exponentially and that increase will
1:22:18
show up at the gas pump that's that's the thing that most of us don't even think about coal shot
1:22:25
it's going yeah everything everything less throttle when you're running I mean there's all kinds of stuff that that
1:22:30
I'll tell you Mike coming from I a couple of years ago maybe last year whatever two years ago now two years ago
1:22:36
now my old deep Cycles went on my on my personal boat and I had lead acid and
1:22:42
them and I always ran lead acid and I said no I'm going to I am going to buy a couple of lithium say well I'm bought a couple of lithium I looked I looked into
1:22:48
all the companies and found one from Canada cuz if you're buying some of these Chinese batteries you need to be
1:22:54
really careful they there's some that are out there that are are not real good
1:23:00
and and I bought a couple of trolling motor batteries and I put them on my boat and this is the best thing i' I've
1:23:06
bought for my boat in a long time they are they hold their power for days not
1:23:11
just a day or a day and a half for freaking days they last until they're
1:23:17
dead so you don't have the slow drop down in power and they get weaker and weaker and weaker they're just there there there there and they're done you
1:23:24
have nowadays almost all of them have Bluetooth capacity so you can see the charge on them so you can say oh my God
1:23:31
I'm at 86% I've went all day long and I'm still at 86% you got two more days of fishing on them um there's so many
1:23:38
pluses to them and like an said that the weight factor is huge in that one but but the uh yeah I think the efficiency
1:23:45
of them alone is just it is worth the money and if you shop around you can find you know you you get them for a
1:23:51
decent price nowadays I'm not saying they're cheap you know you're probably going to be spending 500 bucks per per
1:23:57
battery for 12vt battery you know if you have a 24 you got to buy two of them and I got a feeling that these things are
1:24:03
going to last a lot longer than lead acid those lead acid and then we always like to buy cheaper ones if we can too
1:24:09
right they last a couple years maybe at most that's these things are guarant a lot of them say they have a 10 year guarantee they have a 10 year cycle so
1:24:16
if you think of it in terms of 10 years whether it's a 10year warranty or just 10year cycle let's assume for a
1:24:23
moment that it's not warranty but they do last from 8 to 10 years you'd probably be replacing them at least
1:24:29
twice maybe a third time yeah if they were just we've been running for 5 years we still got some of the original
1:24:35
batteries in your boat and they're perfect they run perfect to this day so the efficiency level is unreal because
1:24:42
even a regular cheap battery is 120 bucks yep right no matter how you look at cheapy yeah right so you're still
1:24:48
looking at you know $400 or $5500 for for conventional batteries over the course of a 10year period where you can
1:24:54
put one in never mind the Savings in energy because of the performance of the
1:25:00
hull but just in the purchasing of the units themselves the difference is phenomenal so if we're talking about on
1:25:07
the ice as well I'll just add there you have to do it you have I converted last year I probably went through 12 of like
1:25:14
the little uh like the lead batteries before I converted now I run I I like
1:25:19
I'll run a live cycle for for eight hours a day or more and it'll be like
1:25:24
like like like halfway down on a lithium battery on a lead acid I'd be carrying like four batteries with me there you go
1:25:31
there so everywhere so there you have three different people who use them and um yeah yeah they're expensive there's
1:25:39
no but the the they're expensive because your cost is up front as opposed to the
1:25:45
Long Haul EXA exactly if I said to you that it was going to cost you 500 bucks 600 bucks for the next 10 years in lead
1:25:53
batteries versus 600 bucks today you'd probably say well hell yeah I'm gonna
1:25:59
buy it today give me a hell yeah yeah so there's your answer they're they're very good Mike they are they are worth the
1:26:05
money they really are and they're a treat to lift in an not from the store into the boat yeah
1:26:13
that's the beauty yeah yeah yeah for sure Kyle Benning from uh Iowa yeah wow
1:26:20
that's two us backto back de that's just a coincidence wow you put your arm in there and you pull those things out now
1:26:26
who would have thought that yeah and email as well from Facebook Facebook to email email uh uh I'm always blowing
1:26:33
away how different the color patterns on the same fish species can look from one body of water to another good walleye
1:26:40
colors seem to vary greatly but northern pike may take the cake H it's
1:26:47
interesting it's interesting he's Blown Away by the different color patterns of the same
1:26:52
fish so he goes on to say the Pike in my area typically have silverish sides with yellow spots along with the occasional
1:27:00
true silver Pike strain if you're lucky but Pike coloration I've caught from
1:27:05
other areas vary from greenish sides to downright Brown I have a picture of two
1:27:11
examples of behind you oh not picture but that's pretty a pretty good contrast there you got that right yeah now look
1:27:17
at the the spotting on the tail of that silver one what the Yeah that's bizarre
1:27:23
so that is so you got the same here but from here up yeah so are these fish
1:27:29
truly different strains is what he goes on to ask or are the color differences purely the result of natural camo based
1:27:37
upon the Water Clarity and soil type of the waters that they call home I think all of the above and and we forgot one
1:27:44
very important element that is the food whatever they're feeding on has a lot to do with their coloration as well there's
1:27:50
three items there that's a good point yeah and I'm not so sure that
1:27:55
coloration doesn't vary from season to season in some cases and also the state
1:28:03
that the fish is in has a lot to do with right the state that fish in it's in
1:28:08
take smallmouth bass for example you can you go from from dark to light to from
1:28:13
Stripes no Stripes from green to Gold to Orange gender of the matters a lot too
1:28:18
like brook trout different well yeah that's a whole other ball game right yeah true enough when it comes spawning
1:28:24
season yeah yeah for sure I don't know like I I've seen this exact like the
1:28:29
bottom Pike in this picture if you're just listening it's a typical Pike in the greenish yellow the greenish yellow
1:28:35
spots and all that the very typical Pike that most people catch but the top the fish in this picture is that silver
1:28:40
color that he's talking about and uh we've seen a few of them like that right not a lot not many but a few of them but
1:28:46
as far as if we're going Pike well in Northwest Territories we got a lot of
1:28:52
Pike on that trip they look pretty similar did they not in that and that the skin tones even from the big ones to
1:28:58
the small ones I mean the big ones maybe a little more muted maybe that may be because of age whatever compared to the
1:29:04
small ones yeah beat up maybe a little bit too but um I find Pike to be quite
1:29:09
similar as a rule I've always thought they were pretty clone is as well yeah
1:29:15
maybe from where he is maybe he's got some different lakes that have where quality in Iowa Iowa see maybe maybe
1:29:21
that's something that's he's talking a lot about silver colored Pike so maybe he's got a lot of those there which makes it you know
1:29:27
which down I have heard we talked to a biologist I think when we were at Nordic point that they can only reproduce with
1:29:34
each other so that's right so they are actually I think they're they will reclassify it as a new species subra or
1:29:41
something because they're they can't spawn like with anything outside population why is that I think they've
1:29:47
genetically varied enough now where they can't successfully reproduce with a
1:29:52
normal Pike and that is like I thought technical that is the definition of
1:29:58
species wonder I thought maybe they wouldn't be attracted to each other not the same speaking and I was going to say
1:30:03
speaking about attraction attrative there you go lovely cice just walked through the room now wonder now here you go we would
1:30:12
could these silver said silver Pike then spawn with a Musky to be a tiger like a
1:30:19
silver tiger musky or something like that you know what I mean cuz cuz regular Pike can spawn with musky
1:30:24
depending on the male female relationship obviously I think one one or the other I don't how it works so how does this work what I want to say is
1:30:31
like if you can't spawn with a pike but a k with a Musky that would be really bizar though that would be like insane
1:30:36
why would nature allow that I know I don't get it we need a biologist
1:30:42
on this one for sure this is this is biology 101 for sure there so so so nature just I guess it's a it's a a
1:30:50
safety valve I guess because think about it if all species of fish in any body of
1:30:57
water could just intermingle and breing with each other
1:31:03
we would lose the wonderful uniqueness of each species yeah you'd build a cool
1:31:08
new one but you you'd lose well you build a whole bunch of different new ones it wouldn't be a cool new one it
1:31:13
would be a whole pleora of new ones every week me bass or splake or
1:31:18
something like that like by the way I was listening to I'm sorry to get off topic but I just I have to bring this up
1:31:24
so I was reviewing one of the Roland Martin episodes and he says that fresh fresh
1:31:30
water something black bass fresh water fresh mouth fresh mouth large water bass
1:31:35
or something yeah black bass fresh mouth large water black bass that's that is a
1:31:40
Apparently that is a little stick that Roland and some of his buddies had made up a while back and they literally try
1:31:47
to say that that's what they call him now he's saying it more often now that Jimmy Houston show I know the one you're talking about yeah the the first time
1:31:54
Rick the editor Rick delishy U said to me Hey listen should I fix this up
1:32:00
obviously Roland screwed up I said hell yeah of course you got to fix I remember that the first time we heard it and so he fixed it all up so it sounded real
1:32:06
but then I realized he does it all the time now so anyway sorry about that I
1:32:12
digress well that's that's the mixed species you're talking about right kind of but that's how nature looks after
1:32:18
things right she she she makes sure that that everybody stays between the lines
1:32:24
right in their own duck bird Ducks they never intermingle like a crow with a
1:32:29
cardinal like why couldn't that happen redheaded Crow well that's the definition of a species pretty much once
1:32:34
you once you stop being able to reproduce with so is it right is it right is should we frown upon maybe what
1:32:43
Pete said beastiality yeah yeah we should we should frown upon that okay
1:32:49
I'm just I just I just thought I'd bring that up just heard the two personalities of De and Angelo right there folks you
1:32:55
dig into that one take it how you want I just wanted to bring that up because I I find that fascinating so why wouldn't that fish Angelo
1:33:04
spawn spawn with that fish they could try they could try it just wouldn't work some weird ass [ __ ] going on there uhhuh
1:33:10
they could do it every day just no results anyway I I I don't know whether we've answered your question or not um
1:33:18
Kyle Benning from Iowa hopefully we have him thank you very much for sending that into us by the way yeah cuz it kind of
1:33:24
does brought that conversation up right there of the silver to regular pipe that's cool woo I'm wore out buddy I
