Ang & Pete are true advocates of the Algoma region in Ontario for many reasons, but the 2 that stand out most are Walleye and Brook Trout. The more they fish this area, the more they love it! Which brings us to this blog’s subject, Blue Fox Camp, one of Ontario‘s premiere Brook Trout fishing destination. We can think of no other destination within 6 hours of Toronto that can produce Brooke Trout of this caliber. Blue Fox is accessed by about a 20-minute flight via Lauzon Aviation in Algoma Mills.

Angelo was up to bat as far as on-camera appearance, while Pete took care of the second camera boat and underwater video.

The ATV only access lake was tiny and could quite honestly have been fished end to end with a small 12 volt Motorguide, but they did have Mercs to make the job easier.

The first morning didn’t produce any Brook Trout for Ang, however, it did produce a bunch of Lake Trout, which is a bonus on small trout gear. After a quick lunch break and with the appearance of a bit of cloud cover, the Brook Trout decided to start eating. Angelo proceeded to smack a bunch of nice 3 pounders on an inline spinner.

As the clouds slowly dissipated, the boys thought the bite would be over, but as often happens, the evening is when the magic occurs. While drop shotting a Yamamoto Shad Shape Worm, Ang boated one of the biggest “Specks” of his life, a giant, which he estimates between 6 & 7 pounds!

Brookies in Algoma… OH YEAH!
