On this Fish’n Canada episode, Angelo Viola and grandson Nikolaos visit Northern Rockies Lodge in Fort Nelson BC. Not sure how his grandson will handle being disconnected for a week, they travel by float plane to test the waters. To Angelo’s surprise, Nik fishes like a seasoned pro, making it the greatest adventure they have ever been on!
Angelo returns to British Columbia’s Long Mountain Lake with revenge in his mind (from the previous year’s butt kicking), and a good luck charm in his corner… that’s Pete! They take on a school of Lake Trout that will blow your mind… every fish is a giant that pulls like a tractor! It’s an entire episode of massive fish!!!
Nowhere else in the world will you find such a vast array of color, shape, and of course size, as you will with Lake Trout in Canada. This fishing Mecca has posted, held and broke more world record Lakers than anywhere else on the globe! So it’s pretty obvious this episode is all about Lake Trout… big… nasty… carnivorous… Lakers.
Here is a Hotspot we just lucked into with Steve Hardcastle of Fishmaster Charters. Troll around 15+ feet of water with spoons and believe it or not Dipsy Divers to get them down! It’s a unique spot because of the shallow water. Remember though, when the water temps go up, the Lakers go down!!!
February’s HotSpot is a rare and easily accessible open water fishery during the cold winter months. This is a turn (point) in the Niagara River that will concentrate Steelhead, Brown Trout and sometimes Lake Trout. Bottom-bounce either roe bags or minnows along with the current trying to keep your presentation as close to the boat as possible. If you’re planning a trip to the Niagara, make sure that the days ahead of your trip are not full of blustering wind. If Lake Erie gets churned up, it spills through the Niagara making fishing very tough. Keep an eye on the weather.
