On This Weeks Show – January 11, 2020

The most deadly predator on earth is the mosquito. Best selling author Timothy
Winegard has traced the impact of mosquitoes from the earliest days to the
present. He previews his book titled “The Mosquito: A Human History of Our
Deadliest Predator.”

Steven Cooke from the Cooke Lab at Carleton University shares the results of his
research, on the challenges for bass under the ice covered waterways of Ontario.

Can algae reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from industrial
smokestacks? Steve Martin is the CEO for Markham based Pondtech. Their
technology is being tested on cement and steel plants, and holds promise in the
challenge to reduce emissions.

Do birds suffer from frostbite and hypothermia in winter? When the mercury drops
at night, how do these little creatures adapt to bitter cold temperatures? Ted
Cheskey from Nature Canada joins Angelo to shed light on these questions and
more.

She’s the mother of six children, a hunter, fisher, author, and accomplished chef
with her own TV show. Tammy Wood joins Angelo to talk about her love of the
great outdoors in British Columbia and she shares some tips about preparing wild
game for the table.
