Did You Know? – Group of Seven

Did you know Lake Nagagami is at the north end of the fabulous Algoma region, a large district in north-central Ontario? It’s an area so picturesque, the Group of Seven made regular trips up here. They went so far as to rent a boxcar from the Algoma Central Railway for their excursions. All to capture the natural beauty of this region on canvas.

The Canadian Shield: 22,000 square miles of boreal forest interspersed with thousands of lakes. This is the backdrop that enticed these extremely talented artists to return time and time again. Ultimately to produce a portfolio of artwork unrivaled in Canadian art.
