Hiya folks,
I want to talk today about standing out from the crowd. Y’know, many times when we’re fishing we talk about “find the bait, find the fish.” Sometimes we look at the bottom of the screen on our sonar units if we’re fishing for Bass or Walleyes, and there’s so much bait down there it’s tough competition when all you’ve got is a single lure.
Now, how do you make your bait stand out from the crowd? One good way is actually speeding it up, making it run much much faster and much, much more erratically. Then it stands out from the crowd. Another way is to dead-stick it—pause it in the middle of the water column if you’re ripping a jerkbait. Another way is to use a bait that’s bigger or smaller than the bait that you’re fishing around. And of course, changing colour; that’s another ideal way to make your bait stand out from the crowd.
