Fish Talk – Don’t Be Too Quick

Hiya folks,

Don’t be too quick. That’s what I want to talk about today.

Y’know, most anglers are skilled enough and smart enough to know that if they get into a school of Walleyes, Yellow Perch, Black Crappies or Bass, and they catch five, six, or seven fish on a spot, before they leave it—if they want to catch an extra fish or two—they change up their baits. Change the size, change the profile, change the retrieve speed.

But before you do any of those things, I’ll tell you a little secret: Take the bait that’s working and change the angle of your presentation.

If I was fishing from shallow out to deep what I would do is go out deep and then throw shallow, or just reverse the pattern. All you’ve got to do is change the angle of the presentation and it’s often like the fish have never seen your bait before.
