Fish Talk – Dropshot Weights

Hiya folks,

It doesn’t take balls. That’s what I want to talk about today.

Dropshotting—probably the hottest technique of the last decade—works for everything. Not just Bass but Walleye, Lake Trout, Speckled Trout, and Rainbow Trout; it works for almost every species of fish. While we’re looking around, always looking for different soft plastic baits to tip our drop shot rigs with, the one thing we’ve found that stays consistent is the weight at the back.

You can get them in a variety of shapes and sizes, but nothing beats the straight up-and-down cylinder-shaped tungsten drop shot weight. The ball-shape weights, they get stuck on the bottom. The cylinders, they slide through weeds; they’re much more snag-resistant. They’re just so much better overall.

So when it comes to dropshotting, it doesn’t take balls—it takes cylinders. That’s the way to go.
