Hotspot – Old Mission Temiskaming Walleye

Lake Temiskaming – N 47° 17.351′ W 79° 28.331′

Today’s Garmin Hotspot is a breakline that’s just upriver of the famous “Narrows” on Ontario’s Lake Temiskaming. The waypoint on the screen will put you right on it.

Although John and I mostly concentrated on the north end of the lake, we knew there’s great fishing to be had very close to the Old Mission Resort and had to give it a shot, too. Since this is a breakline or drop-off, I highly suggest trolling the area, covering as much water as possible. Incidentally, don’t be afraid to stray out to the deep water immediately adjacent to the break, as Walleye and Smallmouth often will suspend looking for roaming bait there. Trolling crankbaits, spinners tipped with worms, and even the old tried-and-true Canadian Wiggler are by far the best presentations here. However, drifting minnows works as well.
