Hey everyone, and welcome to my first blog post. As I start to write, I can honestly say that up until a short time ago, I didn’t know what a blog even was. I was told by Joe, our web guy, to write about anything I want. Which seems weird to me but, hell yeah, that’s right up my alley! (By the way, now I know the term “blog” is a portmanteau or, in other words, a combination of the words web and log—I’m moving out of the ’90s, people!)
THE NEW FISH’NCANADA.COM
I’m really excited about our new site; it’s been a long time coming. The old one really needed a makeover. Hopefully, we can keep up with the times and not let this one slowly fade. Of course as time carries on, we will be updating different elements of the site, and hopefully, we can have a great interaction with anyone who logs on. I’d really like to get the swag up there like t-shirts, hats, hoodies, etc. available to our fans. I need you—our “peeps”—to be wearing our colours! If anyone has input or suggestions for the new look, please forward them to [email protected].
We worked the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show, and it was great to see all the fans show up at the Province of Ontario booth. Thanks to Jim Grayston and all the rest of the Ontario staff for making it an enjoyable workday. And special thanks to all who stopped by for t-shirts, autographed pictures, or just to talk fishing.
NEW TRUCK, MEGADETH, SHIVERS-DOWN-THE-SPINE
I just picked up a new truck this week which has my two most important options: Four-Wheel Drive and a loud stereo. It’s smaller than my last truck, but I’m told it will pull my Bass Boat and our big Princecraft Deckboat with no problem. The good thing is it will get a lot better gas mileage than the petrol-eating pig I just traded in! I’m going to hook up my Sirius Radio to it so I can bump back and forth from Hard Attack to Howard Stern.
I recently went to see the Black Sabbath, Megadeth, and Down concert at the Air Canada Centre, and it was freakin’ awesome! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Down, which means I’ve yet to see any members of one of my top three favourite bands of all time, Pantera. That said, I did get to see the other two of my top three, Sabb and Deth.

Megadeth took the stage in their usual shredding fashion with Mega Dave ripping up the fretboard and raunching out the vocals. An exciting new aspect of the band are the two Toronto natives, the Drover Brothers.
When Sabbath (with Dio) hit the stage, it was one of those “shivers-down-the-spine” moments for me. I’ve been listening to these guys for over thirty years, and they have shaped my musical taste—which, by the way, is a very personal thing. I want to add here that it was great to see some Fish’n Canada fans at the concert. Thanks for taking the time to come over, say Hi, and give the thumbs up for our program. You guys truly do rock!
THE ULTIMATE FISHING MACHINE
We should be getting our new Princecraft in the next few weeks, and I can’t wait. As soon as we get it, I’ll give you the lowdown. All I can say is we’re going to have some Fish’n Canada modifications done to it (aside from the wild graphics), which should make it the ultimate fishing/TV shooting machine.
